So, am I the only person who’s a little concerned for Isabeau Levito’s career in the future? Don’t get me wrong I am a big fan of her skating. She’s extremely graceful, her artistry and extensions are phenomenal, and she’s easily the most promising young American skater right now, but it’s her jumps that worry me.

Her technique just isn’t great, it seems like she has some trouble with getting the correct edge, and the entry and exit on jumps are surprisingly… not great? It’s all things that could absolutely be fixed, especially at her age, and she should blossom into an amazing, iconic skater, if the judging panels would just acknowledged these issues!

Watching the NBC commentary of her SP Johnny and Tara seem to gloss over any flaws, and the judging panel doesn’t point them out.

I desperately want to see her fix those flaws. With the right circumstances she’ll be an iconic skater, and a powerhouse for America, but with the wrong circumstances? I’m just worried we’re gonna end up with another Tara Lipinski.

They’re replaying Isabeau’s free skate and it’s so annoying to me that Johnny and Tara blatantly ignore all the issue in her skating. I like Isabeau a lot, she’s super talented but she has a lot of structural issues in her take offs and landings and they ignore them like they don’t exist. They’re great hype men but they’re not very fair or accurate commentators. Which of course, isn’t like news.

Thoughts: I thought this would be my first time seeing her skate but I remember that dress so I think this might actually be the second time. She’s very flexible. The thing she does with her other arm during the I position, um wow.

Gracie Gold

Thoughts: not the best camera work. And I meant to touch on this earlier, something else that threw me off. This venue is VERY FULL.

Thoughts: Is this Tara commentating, yuck. Anyway, I think this is the first high collar dress in a while that I am completely neutral about. I love the navy blue accents. But she does still have this awkward, nervous sort of smile.

Gracie Gold

Thoughts: she dug her heels in here. This was a battle and she should be very proud.
