You wear a thousand masks and you claim them all. You say they are all you. All parts of you. But some of them you picked up when you needed to be brave, some you picked up when you failed because you were yourself, some of them you picked up because you needed to be stronger for someone smaller, better for someone bigger, useful for someone crueler, and you can't help but desperately scramble for first place, for usefulness, to prove you're worth keeping around, to prove you're the best, to prove you're good enough, valuable, enough.

You just want someone to tell you: You're enough.

You strive for success, to be a role model, to take the lead, to be someone everyone loves, someone who can't fall, someone who can't be hurt the way you were once, the way you're running from even now. Sometimes you just want someone to hold your hand and let you spill all your broken fragments outward but you know you could never let it go. The only thing holding you together some days is the image of perfection and success and security and the worst part is that everyone else needs you to never falter either because you so often are the one holding everyone together too. You can't help but wonder if your emotions are ever your own. If you are just an actor in a life that's not your own, if you were cursed to be a mannequin, a doll, from the moment you were born and placed into a life where you were a child meant to be seen, not heard, to perform, not live, and the jealousy the injustice or the pain is fueled into masks as you take the world by storm.

What’s the lie your character says most often? for Daki!

Daki is one of those characters where her lies are associated with her own identity due to her role as an Oiran. It was always something she aspired to be, both in her human and demonic life... but doing so in the latter one is a touch more work. Her lies are most commonly told when she's entertaining clients during her job. She often gets asked about her life, her hobbies, and if she knows any good stories; fairly standard questions when you're an Oiran or work as an entertainer during that time period.

Daki doesn't fully lie about her hobbies, but she embellishes them. She enjoys playing with makeup and shopping for accessories. However, the lies start to trickle in when she talks about how she dreams of traveling when she's able to leave Yoshiwara and how she aspires to become a beacon of elegance for the younger girls in her home. She still remembers aspects of her human life, primarily that it was lived in squalor and she had to grow up quickly in order to survive with her brother. When asked, she sticks to a story of her family needing the extra money to help with their small struggling farm in a town over the mountain ridge. As for stories.. she knows a lot. Both from reading, memorizing poetry, and of course the myriad of experiences that come with living for a century. Just change out names and make every story that ended in a gruesome death or murder into something the situation called for. A mystery, something to laugh at, a romantic encounter, a metaphor for the greater meaning of life... whatever will make the client want to see her again.

Honestly, they don't know. They never thought about it, they know about heaven and hell, and in truth, if you had to press them for an answer they know they were going to hell. The only thing they care about is being able to stay together, after all, there's no reason to be scared if it's just the two of them.

This song and dance was all too familiar to one-half of the Upper Six title... and quite frankly, it had grown stale rather quickly when Ume decided to view herself as a fully grown woman.

There was a time, decades in the past.. where those feelings of a little girl who wanted nothing more than to earn a smile of pride from the one who had saved the siblings on a whim. Those loving affirming touches to her head when she fed properly, upon mastering a dance to charm and draw in humans, when she climbed the ranks into the inner court of the Demon King. She desired that recognition then.. to be praised for her accomplishments and her ability to use the skills and power cultivated on her own and with her beloved brother. To be seen as more than merchandise, or something beyond a stray plucked from the filth of the streets... Every time she laid claim to power she proudly displayed, and it was brought before Doma... she was shut down. How disgusting.. when their shared Lord and Master, the Demon King themselves, encouraged more.

'You will become the most powerful and beautiful demon I've ever created... never forget that Daki. Drive yourself forward with pride.'

The reward her adoptive father offered was hollow and left a vile taste in Daki's mouth. Dismissal, minimizing, bending the truth to suit them instead of taking his 'daughter' at her word... what a shining example of fatherly respect. She seemed to spit venom with every syllable. The long sashes of her obi wriggling about. Shaking themselves with residual irritation from their Mistress's main body as her elegant figure remained cold and still.

To think he had called her away from her nightly routine to chastise her for once again securing food and once again, keeping his little stronghold from being discovered by patrolling Demon Slayers. Dropping both of at his doorstep to prove a point of her bitterness. If that wasn't enough, every corpse left as 'tribute' was male.

Dawning masks and dressing in beautiful silks to lure in foolish men and offer false hope to desperate women chasing the illusion of a better life... So many had already signed their life away the moment they stepped in here. Before her.

That samurai.. if she could go back to that fateful day and properly stab that wretched man to death, Ume.. likely would have. Even if it robbed them of their status... would it have made their life better? At the very least, it would have given her comfort to know there was retribution. He insulted the one and only good thing in this world that she had, even as a child, Ume knew that was something utterly unforgivable.

"I fight for what I want. For what we deserve."

Passion. Adoration. Ambition. The color of the spider lilies dappling fields of grass with their contrasting hue of crimson. The shade in which blood spattered across a battlefield... so much like those walls containing the wails of a spoiled man now short one eye.

Red. It was an ideal color for words like passion, ambition, and love, wasn't it? This demon would gladly dye their hands such a hue, and paint her lips with the promise to act in the name of such sacred motivations.

Would daki/ gyutaro be able to fight sasuke evenly?

OOC;; Henlo!! Thank you for the ask omg!! This is an interesting one to be sure.. Ok so- I hate to be that person but: it depends. And not on the sibling's end... its more Sasuke's end.

Short answer: Yes they would, more than evenly and it's more of a question of 'when is he able to navigate a fight like this'.

I've written my thoughts out below if you want to see my rationale! Please feel free to comment or message about your thoughts, I'd love to hear your opinion ~

The fight itself very much depends on where Sasuke is in the series when they fight/encounter each other. I think the demon siblings would automatically have the upper hand if Sasuke were to fight them before the encounter with Itachi because that's when he gets strong enough to actually do anything that could hurt them.

For reference: I've finished Shippuden and am working my way through Boruto

Even with the different means of power scaling in their respective worlds, unless Sasuke has a Nichiren sword, and behads them at the same time he cannot kill them. Chakra is one thing, and it's not that it couldn't inflict damage, but it will not be lethal. Taking the power scaling into account, Daki and Gyutaro would be able to outlast Sasuke stamina-wise and put up a challenging fight. Especially if Gyutaro landed a hit with any of his attacks. It would only be a matter of time before his poison took Sasuke out. Any attack made against Daki would only make Gyutaro more motivated to take Sasuke out if he had fought her before. They would just be stalling and focusing on dodging at that point, maybe finishing off this straggler human if there's a chance to land a lethal hit.

As for specific fighting odds...

Daki vs. Sasuke: Sasuke would have the upper hand regarding speed. I imagine anything in her arsenal alone will not be too difficult for him to navigate in a fight; however, she could still outlast him from a physical standpoint. And any direct attack from her is going to have an inhuman strength behind it. Finally, her obi is treated as an infinitely extending set of blades that cannot be can't be cut by normal weapons. Even if he were to burn it with chakra-based ninjutsu, that would not be enough to stop them from regenerating or hinder her ability to make new ones. She may even be able to conduct his chidori into the ground through one blade alone. Either way, they would likely tie.

Gyutaro vs. Sasuke: Gyutaro has the advantage simply because his attacks are a far greater threat on the lethality scale; stats aside. His strength would also be inhuman and his speed of physical and weapon attacks. Think back on the fight with Tengen, if he took on Gyutaro alone the demon would have won. Gyutaro would win.

Both vs. Sasuke: Siblings have the advantage and as Gyu said it best, they fight better together. Everything he would have learned worked to fight against one sibling would be countered or hindered by the other. Daki and Gyutaro would be constantly playing defense and offense for the other depending on who is being targeted; but if they were both fighting, I feel like there's no way Sasuke would get an opportunity to get at both of them at the same time. Siblings claim victory here.

The only way he could win without a blade is to find a way to expose them to sunlight.

A few moments of contemplation held firm from the small girl. Blue eyes, bright and stubborn to the forces of this life that would force her to bend and break to their whims... they turned to her elder brother. Ume's small hand taking the spotted fingers that followed her lead with confusion.

'Brother... One day, let's become stars.'

'Huh?'

'We can grant our own wishes and shine bright. The moon might overshadow us because we're small, and we can't be seen when there's a lot of light... but, we're still there. Waiting to shine.. and inspire someone. Maybe, I can become a star for you? That way, you won't have to work so hard..!'

A small hand would hold fast and tight, a silent promise.. one day.. they would get out. Rise above. Have everything they ever wanted. There had to be hope yet in these young souls..! This wasn't the end... Ume knew she and her brother were destined for something more than this life.

How strange a fate hope and despair could create. Standing here now, an inhuman creature.. with everything she ever wanted now at her feet. A princess in her own right, with her greatest treasure always in her shadowy tow... the reminder of a promise made so many years ago. Her inspiration.

Wiping her tears, the demoness took a moment to compose herself. Meeting eyes that would only soften for their own flesh and blood. A smile blossomed on a beautifully painted face as Ume was reminded... no matter what wall was placed before her, it was not the end.

"You're right. We'll do it together."

"Brother. We both shine. We are stars in the night sky that will shine for centuries over this land. One day... we'll shine brighter than the full moon."
