Mx Kendra sorry if you've been asked this before but do you use references when your making your art??? Specifically for poses because your poses are always soooo good and its definitely one of my favourite things about your work. I still can't draw poses well even with references so I really respect that like oh my god your hands are always gorgeous I just know you'd kill drawing Leo's big old yaoi hands ugh I know the skin highlights would be killing it too

🥺anon tyyyyyyy. esp complimenting my hands i always try so hard to have my hands looking decent gkakgkagk. but yes i use references A LOT. like 99% of the time. i LOVE references. when i get home to my laptop i can pull up side by side comparisons of my little reference collages nd the pieces i’ve done but for quick practice things i will take something out of my pinterest board as a reference nd for bigger things i use a 3d poser thing called design doll where you can manipulate the figures etc etc. which really helped me learn how to break poses down.

as for improving working with references its a matter of time nd practice (boring advice ik) as well as taking your time nd really refining things as you go along. when i was doing my practice portraits of leo even while using references i got off regularly nd had to fix things on the fly! you may benefit from trying this exercise we did in school a lot which is like taking a pose nd trying to capture it in a few minutes. but however you practice its definitely something that will improve as you keep making art!
