Info under the cut

(Never really explained this but the Starsent Au has both Zim and Dib part of the resisty. Dib has been there since he was a baby and Zim joined in their teen years.)

So I've mentioned a little bit about Starsent!Dib and how he's part Vortian. So my idea for this was that Dib was actually born in space. But he doesn't know who either his parents are (aka Membrane and the Vortian who I still need to name and design).

And since in Invader Zim it's kind of obvious that they know nothing about earth or humans (They didn't even know that the planet existed in the beginning of the show) I thought it'd be interesting if Dib knows he's a Vortian but doesn't know his other half and sometimes has small panic episodes over it. He's never seen another creature like him before.

He is grateful for the life he has at the resisty but a part of him just wants to find out who his parents are and at least meet them but since he's unsure of his other half he may never meet his parents.

In this I just wanted to portray Zim walking in on him having one and just giving him some comfort because I said so.

So this is actually Dibs biological mother, Megan. She's a Vortian librarian on Cyberflox who sadly doesn't get paid very well. She was enforced by the Irken Armada and only received 10 monies each month which was practically service drone wage. She genuinely loved her job, wanting to be a historian herself, but when Dib was born her priorities changed.

Dib was the child of her and the one she thought was the love of her life, Eugene Membrane (Professor Membrane). She fell in love because of Membranes drive for scientific discovery and apperently he was the first ever of his kind to explore this far out to space. Megan took this as an opportunity and actually studied Membrane and how he spoke of human culture. She may have had no way to fact check this but Eugene said one day he'd bring her there.

That was until Megan got pregnant and Eugene bailed. She never found out why he did such a thing and was completely alone to raise this baby of theirs. As stated before her priorities changed once he was. She wasn't able to work because she had to stay home. She loved Dib more than anything in the world but she couldn't take care of him especially with their home getting evicted and having to secretly live in the library.

One day while she was walking down the streets of the city, baby in her arms, she saw a Resisty recruiters ship left open as the Resisty member was talking to someone on the side walk, trying to convince them to go against the Armada. Megan looked to her son and knew that he would probably be better off with the Resisty. He'd have shelter, food and would even maybe learn to defend himself.

With a bit of an argument with herself she quickly ran in when the Resisty member wasn't looking, placing him in the pilots seat. She gave him one last kiss on the forehead before leaving, hoping to not be spotted.

She regrets giving him up even if she knows it was probably for the best.
