While I think this is a pretty neat-looking cover (it defiately gives me Sonic Battle vibes), knowing that its the last comic set in the pre-reboot universe kind of makes me feel like these overblown titles are a bit too on the nose.

So the main plot is Sonic and co infiltrating a base to get closer to the Mecha Sally. They’re gonna make another attempt to rescue her, I guess, and this time some of the Arctic Freedom Fighters are gonna help.

I’m glad this issue has Evan Stanley on pencils, because her art style fits these comics sooo well, especially with Matt Herms’ colours! I love how ominous the Death Egg II looks in the shadows, and Sonic’s eager-as-hell expression.

These panels are pretty fricking intense! I don’t care much for the Arctic dudes, but seeing Augustus get gravely injured from laser fire and Sonic almost being shot in the face by Mecha Sally is one hell of a thing to include in their sudden last appearances in the comic.

So Eggman’s gonna unleash another Genesis Wave in hopes of rewriting everything again, and he’s gonna have the assistance of a Mr. “Albert”. HmmMMMMMMMM

Also while Eggman was drawn fine and a little bit ominous, I can’t say the same thing for Orbot and Cubot’s dopey-looking faces.

Silver’s such a dork despite hailing from the future, and I’m glad these elements of his character were established just before the comics got rebooted, even if it doesn’t make him any less annoying in how he kept accusing different people of being the traitor in his future time.

I love Stanley’s art style so much, the characters look so relaxed before their big infiltration mission, and Erma hacking into the hologram entrance to make it green and happy is a cute touch.

Also Amy Rose looks fricking adorable in a winter coat!!
