#Laundrycore 2022 going well, even if nothing else is. Just handwashed something that’s not underwear for the first time (wool skirt) and next I’m going to learn to iron (I mean I’ve seen my dad do it when we were younger so I know how an iron works but it’s a bit different doing it yourself for the first time and the iron is falling out of favour so fast that it hasn’t come up until I want to actually wear a nice shirt).

I know this probably seems ridiculous but it’s a big step up from chucking everything in the machine on the quick wash cycle and doing nothing else, and it means I can wear nicer clothes. 

#Channelling my inner bean nighe #personal #...and that's been ten minutes time to go see the results #Praying to the god of laundry that I haven't ruined the skirt #Mind you I took the dubious decision to wander around H&M the other day and the state of the things they were selling #really does make you wonder if anyone would notice if we just all stopped ironing #Maybe it's easier in a culture where you can throw away clothes when they start losing their shape slightly or lose a button #Somewhere though I definitely turned into a shocked 1930s grandmother like 'Don't these girls own an IRON' #I am a hypocrite but also like I have never worn a shirt THAT rumpled (mostly because my shirts are polychiffon but I'm working on that) #And by these girls I don't mean the shop assistants they're overworked enough as it is #I mean the concept that you can even sell clothes in such a state because nobody really cares any more and it's Fashion I guess? #I mean most of the time who cares if you iron right #We all have busy lives and many people have various other obstacles (depression; ADHD; just didn't want to; whatever) #But crisp white shirts? Why buy them if they aren't crisp and will never be crisp? They're already see-through as if it wasn't bad enough
