this is apparently supposed to be a BAD dream, like half of the people playing pokemon haven't imagined being captured in a pokeball.

(okay, maybe not HALF, but definitely a very non-zero number.)

what up gay nerds! so, yeah, this is a super fillery episode where ash shows up at professor oak's to ask where the pokemon league is, because apparently his two ACTUAL GYM LEADER PARTY MEMBERS have no idea for some reason??? again, not gonna harp on this too much given that this show is literally for babies, but on the other hand WHAT THE HECK???

gary oak turns out to be there, too, and the two snipe at each other a bit, but with a bit more respect than in the past! it seems like the mutual respect they gained for each other in "the battle of the badge" is actually sticking around, which i fucking love!

this is mostly a super fillery episode, though it does feature team rocket's hq getting blown up by mewtwo who flies away with his armor breaking off from the force of his flight, as seen in pokemon: the first movie, so there's another timeline anchor for the movie there!

oh also:
