Minecraft 1.18 Release Date: Bedrock and Java Out Now
Minecraft has gotten so much bigger over the last year and Minecraft 1.18 is the most significant of the game's growth. Here are the details on the update
Latest version - Minecraft 1.18 out now
Minecraft 1.18 is now available globally. It is available for download and can be downloaded right now.
We'll keep you up to date in the coming weeks with the most recent mods, textures, and other cool stuff.
Confirmed Release Date
We have now learned that Minecraft Caves and Cliffs Part two will launch on November 30th, and later this month.
There are just under two weeks to have everything prepared and downloaded in time.
Minecraft 1.18 Release Date
So far, we had a few pretty accurate guesses. We finally know that it will arrive on November 30th.
The team has been releasing tonnes of new snapshots, trying out new ideas. The team should be on track if all goes according to plan and there aren't any major issues. This means that we can expect the update sometime between November and December of this year.
Release Time
Similar to the release date, we don't have an official release date, but we have a good idea. Caves and Cliffs Part 1 was updated at 1pm ET / 6pm BST Tuesday 8th June.
We can expect something similar for the second part.
What's it all about?
Minecraft 1.18 is all about caves and cliffs. Where part one was setting up the groundwork and constructing the caves, this is the time to finish it off. We should see significant changes in the ways structures are constructed and caves should be much larger, with new biomes and new places to explore.
There's even a terrifying creature called the warden in a brand-new biome dubbed the deep dark. You can see a little of what the team are working on in snapshots now.
What is Snapshots?
Snapshots are a way for the team to try out new features with a small portion of the player base. It treats players as bug testers and encourages players to report any problems to assist the team in improving the game.

Minecraft Says it Wants nothing to Deal With NFTs, Blockchain
While certain industries are figuring out their thoughts on NFTs, the video game community is making it clear: NFTs stand for "No F'n Thanks" in their industry.
The most recent company to take a stand against non-fungible tokens: Mojang Studios, the developer of the hugely popular video game, Minecraft.
In a statement that was released today on the official Minecraft website, which is titled "Minecraft and NFTs," the company stated that it would not permit any form of blockchain or NFT integration into the game.
Mojang Studios and Minecraft laid out a few reasons for why they are against NFTs. For one, they clarified that fake scarcity plays an important part in it. NFTs, also known as digital assets or non-fungible tokens, are digital assets stored on a blockchain. The statement explains that Minecraft is not against monetizing and cites the example of users paying for access to a Minecraft server as an acceptable use scenario. However, because NFTs would alter the game's gameplay dynamics and give players who have monetary advantages in the game the game, the Minecraft developer is against the technology.
"To ensure that Minecraft players enjoy an enjoyable and safe experience, blockchain technology is not allowed to be used within our Minecraft client and server applications. Nor can they be utilized to create NFTs for any game-related content, such as skins, worlds, items, or other mods," declares the statement.
The developer also raised concerns about the credibility of third-parties who mint Minecraft-related NFTs, and their tendency to drop projects, and fraudulently inflate prices on the NFT aftermarkets.
Molly White, the Web3 is Going Great website, has succinctly stated that "No blockchain for an online game" The website tracks the various scams, frauds, and drama going on in the Web3 world that includes cryptocurrencies and NFT projects.
As White mentions that the value of the existing (and unauthorized) Minecraft NFT projects tanked on the news of Mojang Studios' statement. NFT Worlds, which also has a token with it and a token associated with it, saw the value of both the token and its NFT floor prices fall by more than 70 percent.
Minecraft's Mojang Studios is far from the first video game company to be far away from NFTs. Gamers have made it clear that they do not like the idea of purchasing NFTs on top of the video games they already purchase. The industry has followed suit and listened to their negative opinions. Just this month, Sony announced a loyalty program known as Playstation Stars which will reward gamers with digital collectibles. Sony has made clear that these digital collectibles were not NFTs.
"It's definitely not NFTs. Absolutely not. They cannot be sold or traded. This isn't leveraging any Blockchain technologies and certainly not NFTs." Grace Chen, Sony's vice president of network advertising and loyalty said in an interview with The Washington Post.
Mojang Studios did end its statement with a promise to keep track of the development of blockchain technology for any possible future use scenarios and leave the door open based on currently non-existent possibilities. However, those who aren't a fan of NFTs are likely to get another win, at least for the near future.

The hardware itself is now more like the remote. A new feature known as "Live Tune In" will allow users to switch between live streaming channels like ESPN, Disney, and many others. There's also a dark theme available, and Automatic App downloads mean that when you install a universal application on your iPhone or iPad it will also be there on your Apple TV too.
Apple has also addressed the issue of one sign-on for all of the network TV Everywhere apps. Sign in once with your information and you will be authenticated in all apps that support it. This is true for both Apple TV and mobile iOS devices.

Using Bazel to Create Minecraft Modpacks - Evan Pratten
Back in 2012, I got in to Minecraft mod development, and shortly thereafter, put together an almost-plain client-side modpack myself that mostly contained rendering, UI, and quality-of-life modifications. Although this modpack was never published or given a name it was maintained for several years until I quit playing Minecraft in 2016 using Minecraft 1.9. I was so used to this modpack that it was difficult to play vanilla Minecraft.
Recently, a group of friends invited me to join their private Minecraft server even though I had not played the game in about four years, I decided to join. It was a mistake on their part since they now have the privilege of having a user who played main 1.6.4 and is constantly asking questions about it. I am now beginning to accept the new blocks, the complicated combat system, and the bizarre rendering system.
But there was something that was missing. Where was my modpack? I decided to build my old modpack and finally gave it a name, CorePack. Nothing has changed, the majority of the rendering and UI mods are back, along with the identical GLSL shaders and similar textures. However I made an "major" change from the Forge Mod Loader and to the Fabric Loader because I prefer Fabric's API.
Curseforge & Bazel
Curseforge didn't exist back when I was playing regularly. It's an enormous improvement over the PlanetMinecraft forums. Screamyguy.net Curse offers a simple method to access information about every published Minecraft mods and even an API! Fortunately, I switched to Fabric and all the mods I needed were available through curse. NEI seems to be gone.
My primary goal for the new version of CorePack was to design it in that I could have an CI pipeline produce new releases for me whenever mods are updated. This involves programmatically pulling information from mods and their JAR files using the buildsystem script. Because this project involves dealing with a lot of data from various external sources, I've decided to make use of Bazel, a build system that excels at these types of projects.
Curseforge is a fantastic API to work with mod-data, however @WynPrice (a fellow mod dev) has created Curse Maven which I chose to use instead. Curse Maven is a serverless API, acts similarly to my Ultralight project. Any request for artifacts to Curse Maven will be redirected to and served by the Curseforge Maven server without the need for me to figure out the long-form artifact identification numbers used internally by curse.
Curse Maven makes it easy to load mods (in this instance fabric-api), into Bazel.
The above snippet uses a Bazel ruleset developed by Square, Inc. called bazel_maven_repository.
Modpack configuration
Two sets of configuration files are required to allow my pack to work with MultiMC. The first set of configuration files tells MultiMC which versions of LWJGL and Minecraft to use. The second set is the game's configuration files. Many of these files contain information I would like to modify from Bazel during the modpack build process. Fortunately the Starlark core library comes with an action called expand_template.

Technoblade, 'Minecraft' YouTube Creator, Dies Aged 23
Technoblade the top Minecraft YouTuber, has died aged 23 following a battle with cancer.
Technoblade the creator's father posted a touching video to YouTube on Thursday titled "so long geeks". It also included an e-mail from Technoblade. His father said that the video was created in collaboration with his family during his final days. However, Technoblade wrote it eight hours before his death. The rapper revealed his real name in the message: Alex.
"Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you're watching this. He wrote, "I am dead," in a message that was read by his father. "Thank you all for supporting my content throughout the years. If I had another hundred lives, I think I would prefer to be Technoblade again every single time since those were the most enjoyable years of my life."
His father stated in the video that he was "the most amazing child you could ever ask for." Technoblade is my absolute favorite.
Technoblade, who has 10.8 millions YouTube subscribers, announced his August 2021 cancer diagnosis to them on YouTube.
Technoblade's family released a statement that appeared at the end of the video on Thursday.
"We as the Technoblade family wanted you to know how the great respect and love he had for his colleagues and his fans." Since the beginning of Technoblade's online presence the founder was constantly figuring out ways to please and reward his followers," it read.
"Even after his success, he managed to keep his charming humility. He competed with an endearing balance of his confidence and self-deprecating with. He was determined to keep his identity a secret and stayed away from fame. We ask you to honor his wishes to keep his privacy as well as that of his family.
Technoblade's online store also includes a message paying tribute to the singer, stating that a portion of the proceeds from online purchases will be donated to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. Technoblade's family will run the store online. We are grateful for the joy he's brought over the years, and we want to continue spreading his message," it says.
A black T-shirt is one of the items found in the store. Screamyguy's blog It has the words "so long geeks" under the design.
Technoblade's fans and associates have also posted touching tributes to him online. Some are co-creators and collaborators, while others have watched the YouTuber for a long time.
Hypixel, an online Minecraft server for minigames, also posted a powerful tribute to. He was a frequent player on that server. Simon Collins-Laflamme, who was the founder and CEO of Technoblade stated in a statement that Technoblade was "one of the most loved YouTubers."
The post read, "He will be remembered in a way, but we will miss him deeply." "He was a kind, talented, passionate young man with extraordinary potential. We are extremely grateful for him and are grateful to have him as such a prominent part of our community. In many ways the success of a lot of us is directly related to the success of Technoblade.
Technoblade's family members were also encouraged to pay homage to "any mainlobby" on the server.
Technoblade started his channel in 2013 and quickly gained attention. Technoblade has been described as "one of the best Minecraft players in the space of content creators".

Minecraft will Require a Microsoft Account to Play in 2022
Minecraft players can play without having a Microsoft account for the last six years that Microsoft has owned the game however, this will be changed in 2021, the official Minecraft blog announced yesterday. If you own the original game, and have not yet switched to a Microsoft account then you won't be allowed to play.
The game has existed in two different versions since its 2011 launch on consoles. The original Minecraft: Java Edition had Mojang accounts. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition was the name of the console and Windows Store version of the game. The accounts will remain the same after this change, but crossplay isn't yet possible. It is not possible to play with your friends with a different version of Minecraft.
Mojang claims that players who are moving from Mojang accounts will not lose any data and that the new accounts will offer two-factor authentication (2FA) as well as other security features previously available in the Bedrock Edition of the game such as parental controls, and the ability to block invitations and chats which is a concern for younger players on multiplayer servers.
Players will be emailed in a series over the next months on how to migrate and will also receive a notification on their profile page once they're able to open an account with a new username. Alongside the blog post, Mojang created a video to explain the change and to address complaints from players:
If you're worried this video will provide reassurance about the compatibility between games and content created by users, but it makes some large assumptions about how you'll feel. The video doesn't discuss anything that might annoy players usernames for Java Edition may change.
Mojang made it clear in support articles that the change does not alter your username. However, if you're using your name as a Gamertag, you will need to accept the addition a suffix at the end (e.g. Minecraftfan #1734 or a new one. Names that don't comply with Microsoft's safety guidelines will also require a change. Because there are fewer names to choose from, the added suffix may become more popular, especially considering the time it has taken for console players to acquire these suffixes.
Mojang claims that it was more convenient to make use of Microsoft accounts to offer these new features, rather than create the features from scratch, but in the event that they're so crucial to provide in the first place then why did they take this long to arrive? Two-factor authentication has been requested by players since the game provided a way to sell and purchase content. This is three years if you count. Protecting your virtual objects from theft appears to be an adequate reason to warrant changes however, it hasn't happened until recently. This is a Microsoft issue that I find hard to believe. It simplifies the administration of their biggest game prior to the launch of next-generation consoles.
Although it's not as inflammatory as Facebook's decision to require Facebook accounts to use Oculus headsets for Minecraft however, it's a huge game and many players will need to take action in order to continue to play.

It's releasing a beta version of its Better Together Update that, in addition to cross-platform play (more on this later) allows you to export your work in 3D. If you're running Windows 10, you can make use of Paint 3D and Remix3D.com to show your work from every angle.
Does cross-platform support exist? The beta lets Android and Windows 10 fans play with other testers regardless of what devices they're using. Better Together establishes a common feature set that includes in-game objects like stained glass and fireworks. To play the beta, you'll have to install the Xbox Insider app on Windows 10 or have an Google Play copy Minecraft on Android. However, you can still enjoy the new features immediately.

- Install PolyMC from the Discover Software Centre on Steam Deck or Flathub directly for desktop Linux. Start PolyMC, and add your account in the upper right-hand corner of the. It supports both Mojang and Microsoft logins. In the main PolyMC Settings, click Minecraft in the left panel , and then click the option to close PolyMC when the game window is opened. Otherwise, loading in Game Mode / Deck UI on Steam Deck it will switch between the two windows. Make sure that Java is updated in PolyMC Settings. This is necessary for the latest version of Minecraft. Click Add Instance on the top left, then select normal Minecraft or locate mods using the built-in search feature and it installs everything for you. To be able to launch directly from Steam go to the Games menu up the top -> select Add a non-Steam game and then find PolyMC in the list of games.
Some YouTube comments suggested you try the optimized modpacks. However, I couldn't observe any significant differences in performance or power usage to make them worth it on the Deck when testing on the same map seed.
