Pet Food Fundraiser for Storefront Repair
On April 12th and 13th, Personal Beast Pet Supply invites people to shop at the store to help fund significant storefront repairs after a person smashed most of their windows. Since January 2024, staff have had to progressively cover the storefront in plywood at 8119 SE Stark Street, replacing broken glass from the acts of a vandal. Artistic pet images decorate the wood panels, while a…

Quarantine Q&A - 13, 15, 16?
13) What is your dream job?
I don’t know if I really have a dream job anymore. I had lots of them growing up, but at this point the dream would just be somewhere where I’m safe. If we’re talking unrealistic, unachievable goals, I’d like to run an indie bookshop that’s both cute and a little creepy.
15) Favorite podcast?
Absolutely impossible for me to narrow down, so I’m gonna give you several:
The Adventure Zone
Justin, Travis, Griffin, and Clint McElroy play a bunch of different rpgs. Admittedly, the only arc I’ve listened to is Amnesty, but damn it’s good. Episodes are 1-2 hours long.
Astonishing Legends
Do you like deep dives into weird shit? Scott Philbrook and Forrest Burgess have the podcast for you. In each episode, they talk about a different crazy story - anything from cryptids, ghosts, and UFOs to bizarre historical mysteries like the disappearance of Amelia Earhart. This is an unusual one among shows of this type because of how much research they do. They go all-out, exploring every possible avenue and discussing every possible solution, from the mundane to the woo-woo. I’ve been listening since almost the beginning, and they’re five years old now. Episode length varies wildly. Can be anywhere from 1-4 hours long.
My top 10 favorite episodes/series (no particular order):
-Tamam Shud: The Somerton Man Mystery (4 parts)-Skinwalker Ranch (3 parts)-The Mothman (5 parts)-2nd Chances-The Kelly Hopkinsville Encounter (3 parts)-Black Eyed Kids (3 parts)-The Sallie House (4 parts)-The Near-Death Experience (2 parts)-The Betz Sphere (3 parts)-The Patterson-Gimlin Film (6 parts)
Hello from the Magic Tavern
I love the fantasy genre, improvised comedy, and badgers, so of course this one is on the list. The premise: several years ago, podcaster/comedian Arnie Niekamp fell through a dimensional rift behind a Burger King in Chicago and found himself in the magical, fantastical world of Foon. Somehow, he’s still getting a slight wifi signal, so every week he hosts a podcast from the tavern The Vermillion Minotaur where he interviews any interesting creatures or adventurers who pass through. Joining him are his best buddies Chunt, the shapeshifter/talking badger, and Usidore, wizard of the 12th Realm of Ephysiyies, Master of Light and Shadow, Manipulator of Magical Delights, Devourer of Chaos, Champion of the Great Halls of Terr’akkas, known to the elves as Fi’ang Yalok, known to the dwarfs as Zoenen Hoogstandjes, and known in the Northeast as Gaismunēnas Meistar. Episodes are between 30-60 minutes.
Jim Harold’s Campfire
Jim Harold has a ton of different podcasts, but this one is something special. It’s formatted like a call-in radio show. Listeners call in and share spooky things that have happened to them, whether it’s ghosts, cryptids, UFOs, or something unclassifiable. There are always some really interesting stories in each episode. Episodes are typically 1-2 hours long.
My Brother, My Brother, and Me
I think everyone on tumblr knows this one but just in case: Travis, Justin, and Griffin McElroy sit down and give an advice show for the modern era. If you have a really boring job, listen to this while you work. Episodes are generally around an hour in length.
My Favorite Murder
I don’t consider myself a true-crime kind of girl, at least not compared to my sisters. But Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff are fantastic hosts. Each week, they take turns teaching each other about a different murder, and their dark sense of humor is very much my thing. I only started listening to them recently, so it’s too early to have a favorite episode, but I love this show very much. The show alternates between full-length 60-90-minute episodes and 30-minute minisodes.
Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project
Every week, Adam Savage of Mythbusters fame sits down with cohosts Norman Chan and Will Smith (not the one you’re thinking of), and they talk about everything that interests them, from technology to parenting to pop culture. Each episode is around 30 minutes long.
16. Favorite musical artist?
This one’s tricky because I haven’t listened to much music in recent years. I generally opt for podcasts, unless I’m focusing on something else (in which case I need instrumental music). A few of my favorites are Queen, Hozier, Sara Bareilles, Imagine Dragons, Lady Gaga, Barns Courtney, Mumford & Sons, and Fleetwood Mac, but honestly I tend to like individual songs more than the artists themselves. I’ll pick out a handful of songs from each artist that I really like, and then ignore the rest of their catalog.
Thanks for the ask, friend!

February Loves
This month is full of love! Not only are we so excited that January is over, but we are ready to celebrate all things hearts, candy, and jewels of course. Check out our favorite things about the second month of the year!
Tumblr media
1. Making Modern // Philbrook Museum of Art presents Making Modern America starting February 10. This exhibition examines this paradox of progress through the lens of American industry. It presents the many complex—and often conflicting— ways that artists working from 1910 to 1960 portrayed the social and environmental changes taking place during this pivotal period.
2. Shoes // Planning your outfit for date night or Galentine’s dinner? J. Cole Shoes has the perfect addition for your night out.
3. Customized // Rustic Cuff just launched a Valentine’s Day line so you can pick out something unique for your special someone (or yourself). We’re loving this cuff that you can customize with your own photos!
4. Swim Lessons // Miller Swim School just began registration for their new Jenks location, opening this spring. Sign up before the classes are full!
5. Kiss Kiss // Emerge Medical and Well Spa can help you get kissable lips with everything from lipstick to fillers. Contact them today for a consultation!
6. Yum // Need the perfect place to take your date this Valentine’s? Make a reservation at one of Justin Thompson’s amazing local restaurants. Whether you fancy pasta, steak, or a good craft cocktail, there is a place for you.
7. Valentines // Have you seen Sara Bost Fisher’s adorable Valentine’s Day cards?! Buy one now for everyone you know!

December Loves
The holiday season is well under way and you can’t go anywhere without hearing a little Christmas music. There are so many fun things going on during this time of year, but we picked out a few of our personal favorites. Have a very merry December and as always, don’t forget to tell them The Scout Guide sent you!
Tumblr media
1. Holiday Market // Living Arts of Tulsa is hosting their first Inaugural Holiday Market this month. The market will feature more than 35 local artist members and run from December 5th-9th (with the 5th and 6th open to members only). On First Friday, there will also be an opportunity to help create a community snow globe. Get your holiday shopping done and support local art!
2. Cozy Robes // Baby it’s cold outside! Which is why we live in our JuJu Jams robe this time of year. They also make the perfect gift!
3. Home Redo // We were so excited to see Emily Davis Interiors featured in Style Me Pretty last month! She completely transformed a south Tulsa home by creating a trendy and kid-friendly combination for the homeowners. Check out the article featuring photography by local photographer, Kacey Gilpin.
4. Philbrook Festival // One of our favorite Tulsa holiday traditions is visiting Philbrook Museum for Festival Nights. The museum is transformed with thousands of lights and a light show decorating the Gardens. In addition, they offer live musical performances, train rides, and lots of special programming!
5. Wrapping Paper // We can’t get enough of this fabulous wrapping paper by Sara Bost Fisher. How cool will your gifts look under the tree in this bright print?!
6. Stress Relief // This time of year is absolutely crazy for everyone! Make sure to carve out some time for yourself and visit Sole Massage for a little R&R.
7. Holiday Decor // We love how so many local treasures are transformed for the holiday season. A new favorite this year is Roosevelt’s on Cherry Street. Check out their amazing ceiling installation!
