(From Team 8 4th Anniversary Book)

The 45 members of Team 8 (Minus Fukushima and Kochi) took a large survey. And so, we’ll share the interesting results! Let’s get right into the news and rankings!

News #1-

Feelings that make you overflow with tears without thinking!! Words from other Team 8 members that moved you

Through our survey, we could see the deepness of Team 8’s bonds, and these words showed their love and kindness.

“The rank might be second, but Team 8’s performance is number one!”

-Kuranoo Narumi (when “47 no Suteki na Machi e” ranked second for the second year in a row at Request Hour)

“Is the bath too cold? Is it okay?”

-Okabe Rin (To Sakaguchi Nagisa, who had been sleeping while the bath was warm and took one after waking up)

“Hinanon really grew a lot!”

-Hattori Yuna (To Noda Hinano after a lesson for “Eight no Hi”)

This year, what member moved you the most?

After our kennin positions were announced, she asked for us to all circle up. (Tanikawa Hijiri)

She never whines or complains. I think that’s admirable. (Okabe Rin)

On the day our kennins were decided, while crying she said “Let’s all do our best.” I was moved, she really loves Team 8. (Yokoyama Yui, 8)

News #2- “I saw this member!” Corner! Interesting things Team 8 members have done

Until now we didn’t know! We asked about surprising things about other members.

Whenever I go to the theater, she’s cleaning the dressing room. (Shitao Miu)

When I was depressed, she and Misakki said “You don’t have to push yourself” and brought me my favorite cream puffs. (Honda Hitomi)

She watches the other members carefully, and supports me, I’m always happy and moved by her actions. (Utada Hatsuka)

The number one popular Tanikawa Hijiri and also popular Yamada Nanami both wrote each other for their choice of girlfriend, but…

Tanikawa and Yamada are both very popular among the other members and chose each other in their surveys. However, Yamada also wrote down other members. On top of that, she also wrote “And even more!” so there may be some cheating.

Team 8 Anything Ranking -- Special Edition by Top Lead

These two big brothers will evaluate the members’ growth over the past year!

Co-stars of “AKB48 Team 8 no Anta, Rokeroke!” (TV Asahi) will do their own personal ranking. They will discuss their thoughts after watching over the members for the past year.

“The most improved member is Hayasaka, who has become accustomed to variety.”

--Out of the members you’ve watched over this year, who is the member that you think has grown the most?

Niizuma: Tsumutsumu (Hayasaka Tsumugi) has grown a lot.

Waga: She’s really started to be able to communicate like an adult. At first she wasn’t talkative at all, but lately during recordings she will talk to us even when we’re not filming.

Niizuma: During the filming she had to say who she preferred between me and Waga-san and she said Waga-san, but afterwards Tsumutsumu went up to me and said she also likes Niizuma-san, it was very nice of her. (laughs) Also she’s gotten good at gourmet reports.

She was good before, but her word choice has really expanded. Over this past year she’s gotten a lot better at saying things for herself and using her own words. It also means she’s gotten better at variety. She’s not as silent anymore and she’s really just absorbed knowledge from those around her.

Waga: If we’re talking about gourmet reports, Sato Shiori is also amazing. When she speaks there aren’t any pauses and she’s not just speaking like a kid either. She really expresses how the food is.

Niizuma: As their senpais on television, we can really see them working hard.

Mizumaari (Shimizu Maria) has also grown to a high level. Lately it feels like she’s taken a big step forward, it’s still only one, but I feel like she has a long way ahead of her. Rather than just saying everything is delicious, she clearly thinks about what to say and puts all her effort into it, even if she thinks it will lose.

Waga: Speaking of, when we were filming with her on location for two days, Shimizu got angry that I was having contact with a female performer.

Niizuma: In those two days we saw Shimizu do so many un-idol like things. (laughs)

Waga: The member I was most surprised at was Kuranoo and her solo concert. Her singing and dancing were both amazing. Because it was a solo concert, she also had to do all the MCs alone. She was speaking alone, but with the audience and her timing all of it was perfect. Not a bad job.

Niizuma: Shippo-chan (Kuranoo Narumi)’s comments are amazing. She always makes comments that are specific and well-thought out and are very unique. Like during talk segments, Shippo-chan will always be able to do it in one shot. In comparison, Shimizu looks like a fool and Tanao (Ota Nao) looks clumsy.

Waga: Oh, I almost forgot Fukuchi Rena. She also got really good at talking. During lives you can see her carrying the MCs, which you don’t really get to see idols doing, so with her there’s no need to worry. She’s like an idol who can just talk by herself. It makes me really want to listen to her when she speaks. I think I want to listen to a radio program where she MCs.

Niizuma: She really does have the power to make you just want to listen to her.

--Next, could you please make a comment about members that make you think “This kid is an idiot”, or in other words, didn’t change at all? (laughs)

Waga: Well the number one member who didn’t change would be Chou-chan. (laughs)

Niizuma: Whenever they appear on television, you can tell they’re thinking of every mistake and reflecting on what they can change in the future. But Chou-chan doesn’t think about anything but the guitar, I don’t think she changes at all. (laughs) Although it’s probably not entirely right.

Waga: She probably thinks about other things, like the weather.

Niizuma: But that sort of unchanging part of her is cute, too. Which is why Chou-chan hasn’t changed. And I hope she stays that way.

Waga: Second place would probably be Hiichan (Honda Hitomi). And I mean it in a good way to say that she hasn’t grown. Like we will be on the bus and she will just play video games. Before she would say “I’m gonna play a werewolf game” and now she says “I’m gonna play a magical banana game”.

Niizuma: Well she is still a middle school student, so when it’s late the staff will tell her “Hiichan, lets take a bus and go back to the hotel” and she’ll respond with “Ehh, no, I don’t want to go back!” . But then they’ll tell her “We’ll give you a video game after” and she’ll just be like “Yay!” and go happily. (laughs) She’s such a kid! Also one more person I’d like to mention is Handsome (Yoshida Karen). She always has this image of just having her mouth open. (laughs)

She’s always spacing out, like you have no idea where she’s looking. But I hope she stays like that, since she’s still so young.

Waga: In the idiot department is definitely Yamada (Nanami). She really is an idiot. She spells “lovely” as “lovere”.

Niizuma: Lovere, isn’t that a yoghurt brand? (laughs) Speaking of, this one time she was trying to write “father” but she wrote the kanji for “parent and child”.

--How about appearances? Which members have grown to look more mature or become very pretty?

Waga: We often don’t have many opportunities to meet with many members very often, so sometimes there will be intervals where we don’t see members for a while. Then when we meet after a while, they’ll have completely grown up. Recently I was really surprised when we met up with Yokoyama (Yui)! She suddenly got really mature. Hitomi (Kotone) also surprised me. She suddenly got this aura of a model.

Niizuma: Speaking of, I finally saw Hiihii (Honda Hitomi) after a while and she’d gotten mature and I was shocked. Even though her brain is still a kid! But I was still so surprised. (laughs)

--Moving on, next please tell us about the members with the biggest image gaps. The ones who seem one way, but how are they really?

Niizuma: Honestly with Team 8 there aren’t many surprises like that. The well-behaved kids are well-behaved, and the energetic ones are energetic. The members are earnest, which I think is what makes this team so fun.

Waga: Yamada and Oden-chan (Oda Erina) are very much exactly how they act. Tanao is the exact same on stage as in the dressing room.

Niizuma: Tanao got on the bus we used for Roke and told the driver “Pleased to work with you.” So now, all of the younger members, even if Tanao isn’t there, will tell the driver “Pleased to work with you.” That’s the kind of adult she is, rather than teaching manners by being strict, she sets a good example and everyone follows her and watches her back.

Waga: I think all of them have grown by watching Tanao.

--Please tell us which members you would like to get more attention.

Waga: I’m always saying this, but Shitao Miu. She’s really good at dancing and even her fingertips are beautiful. Her movements are very neat. When performing “Sakura no Ki ni Narou”, her dancing really looks like the fluttering of cherry blossoms.

Niizuma: For me, Contacts-chan (Hashimoto Haruna), I really love the face she gets when she gets depressed. There was one time in front of the waiting room, although I was busy. Something happened, I don’t really know what, but her face was super cute.

Waga: I wouldn’t know what happened either.

Niizuma: Of course. (laughs)

--There was a Team 8 event, and unfortunately the result as not very good, and it seems Hashimoto-san heard about it.

Niizuma: I see, that was also the Contacts-chan I’d like to see. It was really cute.

--By the way, are there any members you want to see more photo shoots of?

Niizuma: Ahh, BeMei (Abe Mei)! I want to see them. Like facing a school pool, sitting at the edge, wearing a pastel swimsuit, wouldn’t that be cute?!

Waga: Gyouten doing something like that would be nice. Like lunging on a sofa like a cat waiting for you to come home would make for some good pictures.

--And finally, what members do you think people should pay attention to during this fourth year of Team 8?

Waga: I’m not sure if I dare to say it, but I really want to see Nakano Ikumi’s comeback. She was the first center. But then Kuranoo and Sakaguchi ranked in the elections and have been pushed. Then the solo concerts happened and were given to Oguri, Kuranoo, and Sakaguchi. Nakano was left behind and it seems like her frustrations have been biling. I think it’s about time for her to start a counterattack.

Niizuma: I think people should pay attention to the new members. Noda, Utada, Terada, and also Hirano and Takahashi (Sayaka). The other day I got to work with Utada-chan and she was really funny.

Waga: They definitely have a feeling of kids who you can’t find in AKB48. The members are always changing, because they have to if they want to break out. Steadily, Team 8 has developed where they can now work on themselves as individuals, and I think they have a lot of power. The new Oita girl will join soon and these five could become the bridge for her to integrate.

Niizuma: The three new members certainly do have a different sense to them from the original members. But I think the new members will fit in. Since we’ve been able to work with them after all. Of course these members also work really hard and know how important that is, but they have senpai members who can push on their backs. I really think Team 8 can become a wonderful team like this.

Waga: I also think so, and also that we should watch out for Ota. Because Ota definitely wants to keep moving forward.

Niizuma: This year I think they’ll all definitely get a lot of work. With new work the team will be busy, but I think it will be okay. Team 8 is big so if there are problems, they have a lot of people they can talk to, I also hope they can continue to be a big team like this.
