WITCHCRAFT
1st Wand: Aspen, Unicorn Hair, 12 inches, reasonably supple
Wand-quality aspen wood is white and fine-grained, and highly prized by all wand-makers for its stylish resemblance to ivory and its usually outstanding charmwork. The proper owner of the aspen wand is often an accomplished duellist, or destined to be so, for the aspen wand is one of those particularly suited to martial magic. Aspen wand owners are generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders; this is a wand for revolutionaries.
2nd Wand: Red Oak, Unicorn hair, 11 inches, solid
You will often hear the ignorant say that red oak is an infallible sign of its owner’s hot temper. In fact, the true match for a red oak wand is possessed of unusually fast reactions, making it a perfect duelling wand.
Animagus Form: orange cat/european shorthair
Patronus: kneazle
Boggart: Jacob (later Rowan) saying she is cursed and blaming her for not being able to save their loved ones
Riddikulus: she listens to what they have to say instead of casting the spell

Jessye Norman (September 15, 1945 – September 30, 2019) was an opera singer and recitalist. A dramatic soprano, she was associated with roles such as Wagner's Sieglinde, Ariadne by Richard Strauss, Gluck's Alceste, Beethoven's Leonore, and both Cassandre and Dido in Les Troyens by Berlioz. She made a career in Europe, where winning the ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 1969 led to a contract with the Deutsche Oper Berlin. She made her operatic début as Elisabeth in Wagner's Tannhäuser, followed by appearing in Verdi's Aida at La Scala in Milan. She sang and recorded recitals of music by Schubert, Brahms, Chausson, Poulenc, Mahler, and Strauss, among others. She sang at the second inauguration of Ronald Reagan, at Queen Elizabeth II's 60th birthday celebration, and performed the La Marseillaise to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution on July 14, 1989. She sang at the 1996 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in Atlanta and for the second inauguration of Bill Clinton. She was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and became a Spingarn Medalist in 2013. Apart from several honorary doctorates and other awards, she received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and the National Medal of Arts and was a member of the British Royal Academy of Music. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #alphakappaalpha https://www.instagram.com/p/Cihn7cCLQF2C3aXZHvGpxaNTZSZZVKr1dD81pA0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Vendredi 14 mai
Wow guys I’ve been super productive today. I even got time to make a post on tumblr lol.
Today I joined some friends to study in a library. I’ve almost finished dermatology and I came to the conclusion that I’ll never be a dermatologist. 😫Now I still have to summarize the pedopsychiatry syllabus. Later in the evening I’ll have to finish an assignment in addictology due for today.
Also recently the Queen Elisabeth Competition started in Brussels and I really like to follow my favourite participants. Is there any classical music lover here ?   I feel so lonely  😭
🎵 Currently listening to : Etude d’exécution transcendante S139 n°10 by Franz Listz 🎵

Just today my grandfather told us about how he met my grandmother and how she 'looked like a little canary bird' since she was wearing a yellow blouse. Hope Bulgaria gave him some nice flashbacks.
(he also told us he's enjoying watching "the music competition this week" but we weren't sure if he meant eurovision or the Queen Elisabeth Competition)

in classical music, there’s an organization that hosts a competition exclusively for black and latino string players, called the Sphinx Organization.
Any time I have EVER scrolled by any website or social media site and seen a video or even just a picture of a black person, young or old, soloing with an orchestra... it’s a picture from the Sphinx Organization.
ALL of these playerrs have been good enough to win or at least place in other major competitions like Menuhin, Tchaikovsky, Queen Elisabeth... but I never, ever see them there, and idk if it’s because they’re never chosen, or because they never even bother to compete because they know they won’t be chosen.
and it’s just??? lmfao the classical music community is so laughably transparent.
you can have all these organizations that pride themselves on being ~inclusive~ and in going out of their way to bring minorities to the table, but even as they do so, they bend over backwards to keep those minorities from being at the forefront of anything at all.
literally my entire time in my college orchestra, the director looked for any possible opportunity to make sure i wasn’t concertmaster for anything but the less-important or less-impressive pieces, despite the fact that i was DEFINITELY the best player after sophomore year and beyond. any time there were face-to-face auditions for anything, somebody white or asian got picked. any time there were screened/anonymous auditions, IT WAS MEEEEE!!! I WON!!!! ME!
and like?? that’s how it’s ALWAYS been. not just at that school. at every school, and almost every festival. the only exceptions have been festivals where a majority of the faculty wasn’t American, and it so happens that almost ALLLLL of the ~foreign~ faculty that have been eager to give me credit where credit is due have been russian???? dunno wtf that means, if anything lmao. but it’s true.

Through the Years → Queen Mathilde of Belgium (1,246/∞)
23 February 2022 | Her Majesty Queen Mathilde is visiting the KASK & Conservatory, the "School of Arts" of HOGENT and Howest. The Queen attends a cello master class and several musical interludes, and takes a closer look at instrument building. She will also talk to international students who are pursuing professional music careers at the school. In recent years, the Queen has visited the conservatories of our country to stimulate music education among young people and to further encourage their interest in classical music. For many years she has also supported the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition, which in 2022 will focus on the cello, in Gent, Belgium. (Photo by Bert Van Den Broucke / Photonews via Getty Images)
