Orfeas Souris is a Greek composer, guitarist, vocalist and lyrics writer. Was raised in the wildland, son of a woman and a man. Since the early days, art was the only way to get away from people and violence. His compositions combine natural, analog and digital sounds, exploring jazz, electronic, indie rock and garage, always with a twist of a cranky experiment. In the masterplan, music and sound must interact with other forms of art, such as cinema, writing novels, painting, and a general "conjure up" of reality, to a physical imprint. If you search for his work, you will find fragments and parts, in chaotic order and fashion, starting from photography and picture exhibitions, moving up to film and video making and music pieces, that were unexpectedly produced and spread, for no reason whatsoever. 本日は、同じく「Chef」のサントラ繋がりで、Quanticをご紹介。

Quanticとは、英国出身のプロデューサー・ミュージシャンのウィル・ホランドのソロプロジェクト。マルチプレイヤーなので、サンプリング素材もよりも自身のオリジナルで作った音源の方が多いのが特徴的な天才音楽家。自身の名義のほか。ライブバンドプロジェクト、ダブプロジェクトなど、様々な名を冠してコンセプトに合わせて幅広い作品群をリリース。2007年にコロンビアに移住。Nickodemusとのコラボレーション曲「Mi Swing Es Tropical」が2008年のiPodのCMに起用され、彼の名を世に知らしめるきっかけとなった。現在はNYを拠点に活躍中。2019年には久しぶりの自身のソロ名義の作品をリリース。

今回ご紹介するのは、エレクトロにラテングルーヴを入れ空前の大ヒット作となったコロンビア在住時代Quantic And His Combo Barbaro名義の作品「Tradition In Transition」から、「Mas Pan」を。 本来なら過去のサンプリング音源をMIXするDJの手法を敢えての自身の生演奏で、そして”ラテン音楽”という枠組みの中に、オーセンティックさを失わずに自身のオリジナリティを融合させてる、この天才っぷりがすごい。まさにタイトル通りの”変革の中の伝統”。しっかし絶妙なバランスだこと。

ルーツ系の音楽が続きましたが、しばらくはエレクトロ系にスライドしていきます。
