Cuando hablamos del Downton Dubai y de Dubai Marina y The Palms, ya comentamos que en estas zonas, se concentran los grandes hoteles de lujo con grandes restaurantes que se llenan sobre todo para el “brunch” de los viernes; hoy, por contra, nos centramos en otros dos distritos, Deira y Bur Dubai, dónde encontrar una gran parte de los restaurantes más antiguos de la ciudad, dónde no hay tanto turista y sí mucho local y dónde por ende, los precios son mucho más económicos pero la comida está para chuparte los dedos una y mil veces. DEIRA
En el distrito de los zocos y de los mercados, al igual que ocurre en muchas de las plazas y mercados de ciudades españolas, resulta que puedes comprar en el Mercado del Pescado (Deira Fish Market) la materia prima y que en el Grill & Shark, situado en el edificio de al lado, te cocinen el pescado o el marisco al punto, en unos hornos que están en “candela” todo el día. Es una opción económica para comer un buen pescado o un buen marisco: gamba, langosta,… Debes de tener en cuenta lo siguiente:
√ La mejor hora para ir al Old Fish Market de Deira es por la mañana y vete provisto de calzado impermeable   
√ Precios: 5 dh por cocinar el pescado/ 5 dh si haces uso de la zona de comedor / 3 dh por condimento tipo curry o similar
Otra opción económica, es el Aroos Damascus. Si no quieres “chuparte” unas colas tremendas, evita las últimas horas del día porque es un local que está a reventar hasta altas horas de la madrugada. A nosotros nos lo recomendaron por los sabrosos sandwiches en pan de pita con carne de cordero crujiente.
√ Por ensalada, bebida y sandwiches bien repletitos de carne y muy jugosos, no pagamos más de 60 dh (unos 15,00 euros al cambio). Parada Metro: Salah Al Din
Por si os sirve de ayuda, os dejo un pequeño plano, indicando los restaurantes y el Fish Market:
  BUR DUBAI
En la zona histórica de Bur Dubai, es dónde hay más variedad de restaurantes de esos de toda la vida y algunos más nuevos pero en cualquier caso, buenas opciones, con comida rica y sobre todo, bastante económico; tanto, que incluso nos sorprendió en muchos de los casos. Allá vamos…
⇒Arabian Tea House: su patio es de los más solicitados: sillas de mimbre, colores turquesa y un gran árbol en el dentro del patio que hacen que incluso a las horas centrales del día, uno esté más que a gusto aquí sentado. Muy concurrido por locales pero también por algunos turistas, es perfecto para tomar un té, unos dulces o una comida ligera. Dos jarras de té y dos platos de especialidades de dulce árabe, suponen unos 80 Dh.

⇒Sind Punjab: considerado uno de los establecimientos familiares más antiguos de Dubai, es un ir y venir constante de clientes y de pedido listos para llevarse a casa, al parque o a la orilla del creek para comer a tu aire. Nosotros decidimos cenar en el propio restaurante y nos decantamos por probar su plato estrella: el pollo a la mantequilla. Buenísimo. Dos tipos de pan diferentes, tandoori un pelin picante, arroces, bebidas,… No pagamos más de 50 Dh por dos personas.
√ Lo mejor es que no hay o al menos no coincidimos en ninguna de las veces que pasamos por allí, con un solo turista. Tampoco es fácil de encontrar a la primera, así que tenedlo en cuenta.
Dulces y anises para templar el paladar tras la comida

⇒Al Ustad Special Kabab: desde 1978, este restaurante lleva dando de comer a varias generaciones y se vanaglorian de ello. El local, decorado de forma peculiar, no deja indiferente a nadie: mesas de cristal con billetes de todo el mundo, paredes cargadas de fotos con personajes famosos,… Lo cierto es que no he probado un kebab más rico que éste: ni el pan, ni la carne,… La presentación ya es diferente porque estás viendo como hacen la carne de pollo o de cordero, en unas planchas; el pan recién hecho, las verduras frescas, las diferentes salsas, el arroz como guarnición,… Espectacular! Creo recordar que cena para dos, con bebidas y un té moruno riquísimo, no llegó a los 50 Dh. Otro punto a favor: nada de turistas.

♠ Ya que estás en la zona, no te vayas sin probar el café que te sirven en el Museo del Café, a escasos metros de la Tea Arabian House. 
♠ Recordad que no se sirven bebidas alcohólicas salvo en los grandes restaurantes de los hoteles y clubs pero eso sí, siempre que te sientas en una mesa, te sacan un botellón de agua, imagino que para compensar

FOODTRUCKS
Dubai, también ha sucumbido a la comida que se sirve en furgonetas y es bastante común encontrarte con estas foodtrucks en parques y puntos estratégicos de la ciudad, como por ejemplo en las zonas de los mercados semanales y/o mensuales, en la zona del paseo que bordea el Golfo Pérsico, junto al Atlantis The Palm o en las inmediaciones de los grandes centros comerciales.
En este último caso, es bastante común que encuentras a la entrada del Dubai Mall, junto a la zona del lago, una de las foodtrucks más antiguas de la ciudad : SALT. Su especialidad son las hamburguesas, en todas sus variedades que sirven con bebidas y patatas fritas. Como las probamos, puedo decir que es cierto que están muy ricas, jugosas y las patatas fritas, excelentes. Una costumbre muy americana que triunfa en los Emiratos. Paradojas de la vida

Bueno, pues con esto, sí que ponemos fin a los diarios sobre el tour por Emiratos, aunque seguro que aún tenemos alguna otra sorpresa preparada.
