I think it’s safe enough to finally talk publicly about it.
Basically the vday video was a video Phil made for Dan for Valentine’s Day. He uploaded it privately onto his YouTube channel which Dan had the password to so Dan could see it. At this time, Dan was on vacation (pretty sure in India) and he wouldn’t have been able to see a video of that quality just through text or email. Shitty luck, the same time he privately uploaded it, infamous YouTube glitch happened where all private videos became public. And one of the videos that went public was the v day video.
There’s a lot of jokes about Dan in 2012, but it’s actually really depressing. Dan wasn’t out yet and he had a fuck ton of trauma surrounding his sexuality. 2012 is when dnp started blowing up enough to where they became part of popular early YouTube so people saved the v day video when it was uploaded.
They’ve only addressed it a few times in which they said it was an April Fool’s prank, which obviously doesn’t make sense, but what were they supposed to say? According to legend, people would keep reuploading the video and Phil would spend hours taking them down one by one and it would say “AmazingPhil took down this video for copyrite.”
It was a catalyst to just a really shitty period for dnp. All aggressively heterosexual clips from Dan’s liveshows are my 2012. “FYI I like vagina” is 2012. People were contacting his 14 year old brother to ask about him and Phil. That alone is both fucked up to drag a kid into this, but remember that Dan still wasn’t out to his family. It was probably so fucking terrifying when his YouTube life, especially regarding his sexuality and relationship, clashed with his family life for the first time.
There’s a noticeable difference between their relationship in videos from 2009-2011 and 2012-2015. And it is most likely because dnp blew up pretty big in 2012 and started going from making YouTube videos for fun to doing it as a job with the added pressure of millions watching. And the catalyst, or at least metaphorical catalyst, from the switch between being openly touchy feely giggles to strict, five feet apart mates is considered to be the vday vid.
It was a big problem in the phandom since it was leaked to around 2017ish. A lot of people were circulating it and word was that they were still being taken down years later, implying that Phil was still searching for the video years later.
The phandom used to be primarily 12-16 year olds. And when you’re that age, speaking from experience, you don’t understand the complexities of the situation and just kinda thought “teeheehee phan is real XD.” When in reality, it was a very sensitive and serious thing that wasn’t meant to ever be seen by the public. It’s literally where the cherry lube and kissing at the Manchester Eye reference is from.
Rightfully so, the video became more and more taboo to mention and most people caught on that it was a shitty thing to upload or share it. It used to be really taboo and affectionately was often referred to as “the video that shall not be named.”
It honestly has a backstory that is so story-like that it seems unreal. So much had to happen for it to be leaked and the impact it had on them was so large it’s like a black hole in phandom history.
It’s possible not all of this is accurate, this is just the basic lore of it. So while I don’t think the internet police will drag you to prison for saying you watched the vday video, this is the context behind it. Do with it what you will.

Hello World!
First posts are always the worst. Acouple of things will happen, either there will be so much to say that I don't know where to begin or I will draw a complete blank as I start to write. I have a feeling that this will fall somewhere in between.
Let's start with the easy things first shall we? Words that can be used to describe me: lesbian, geek, middle aged, technical, gamer, creator, nerd, different. That's a good start. So what should you expect to see here? That's a bit tougher to nail down really. I suspect at times it will be about my life and the twists and turns that are happening with it at the moment, but also about what I am trying to accomplish in spite of what is happening.
There is a lot going on atm. Most of it is incredibly scary. I can honestly say that I never imagined that my life would turn out to be like this. The timing is especially bad, but that is how it is in my world. It seems that every time I try to accomplish something life decides that it's time to shake things up. This week I have a feeling will be the biggest shakeup of all. if I am lucky, it will be the week that I find out if I have cancer.
Let's go back a couple of years for perspective. It's nearing the end of 2017 and is just another day at work. I work from home and have just finished my lunch and am preparing to teach my second class of the day. I get everything all set up to go when I start feeling funny. It feels like someone played a prank and wrapped my chest in saran wrap. I thought it was odd but wasn't too alarmed. Two minutes to go before class starts and suddenly I am having trouble breathing and along with the tightening in my chest there is a strange pain that has made itself known. This gives me pause as I watch the timer wind down and hear the familiar beep that tells me it is time to start class. I begin to speak and try to get into the rhythm of my intro but these sensations refuse to be ignored. A few more minutes go by and I decide it is serious and make arrangements for a quick exit.
The closest emergency room is less than two miles away. I calmly head for the hospital still trying to decide if it is really necessary. Most of the first hour is a blur, but I do remember the monitor registering my heart at 130 bpm. A quick EKG showed that I was not having a heart attack but my heart was also not showing signs of slowing down. I remember a silver patch being placed on my chest and a whirlwind of activity all around me. A decision was made for me to stay for 24 hours to see What was going on.
Many things happened that night, sleep was not one of them. the next day was much the same. A heart monitor had been put in place overnight and an ultrasound was done the next day. All of that came back normal. At some point a nurse came in with a pill. I asked what it was and she said it was Xanax. I told her she could keep the pill because I was not taking it. the shift doctor had ordered it but no one could explain why. Apparently, woman with Tachycardia and chest pain equals anxiety. This exchange prompted a visit from the head nurse where we proceeded to discuss how the medical profession causes more harm to women than help because of archaic prejudice.
No cause was found because nothing was done other than standard testing. They did find abnormalities in my lungs that were dismissed as unimportant and should be evaluated every 6 months. They failed to mention the need for re-evaluation. I would find that in my medical records much later.
Fast forward a year and I am back in the ER. This time sent by my doctor because I had been sick for more than a week and was not responding to treatment. More tests were done, and after an aggressive round of breathing treatments and medications the doctor came in looking particularly grim. He told me my white bloodcell count was high. My response was, " Let me guess, it is over 13k." He visibly looked surprised by my response and then proceeded to tell me I was being discharged because there were no beds. At no time did he bother to mention that there were other problems with my blood work. The papers I was given at discharge also said nothing. I would later discover that there were notes stating that I should be tested for CLL. No one said a word. My GP also said nothing.
Another year and 3 doctors later, I was fortunate enough to find the doctor I have now. She is what every doctor should be. I truly don't know what I would do without her. Unlike the others she believed me. I tested positive in the very low range for a type of leukemia. The oncologist I was referred to is a nightmare. Sadly, she is a woman. It's a terrible feeling when a doctor makes you feel like you are wasting their time. This is my current oncologist. Btw, my WBC is now over 15k and has only been climbing higher for the last few months. There are reasons this is more serious than most people but she refuses to believe it.
I have recently discovered that my grandfather was most likely an atomic veteran. I decided to dig around a bit and discovered every story he had told us was not true. Where he said he was and what he said he did just was not possible. Not to mention that most Indians were sent to Europe or Japan. Note, when I say Indian I am not speaking of those from India. Grandpa always called us his little Indians and that is what we are. Like him, I have a Federal Identification Number that is required to say that you are legally Indian.
It is very likely that Grandpa was exposed to radiation and that caused the cancer that killed him. Indians don't die of cancer, they get diabetes. Further complicating things, I too am a Veteran with possible exposure to at least multiple myeloma and who knows what else. In 6 years I can make a FOI request for his records because the statute of limitations will be lifted. I am confident that his records like 80% of veteran records for that era were lost in a fire.
So here we are at today, where I am waiting to hear the results of the CT scan and waiting for Insurance to approve or deny the bone marrow aspiration that I am supposed to get done ASAP.
All while trying to finally graduate from college with a Bachelor's degree and dreams of a Masters. Convincing myself that it's not too late and tomorrow will come bigger and brighter than yesterday.

Prompt 92: When Peeta's brothers pass on getting the bakery, Mrs. Mellark decides to find Peeta a wife she approves of AND to get in some immediate free help by posting unpaid summer internships at the bakery. Lots of girls hoping to land a husband with a business show up, none really interested in working or learning. One by one they dramatically quit or get fired until only Katniss who's only in it for the free day-old bread survives. Will Mrs M honor the bargain? Possible fairytale ending? Prompt 93: Peeta and Katniss having never spoken graduate at 18 without getting reaped and must find work or a spouse to support them or else report to the mines. This drives one to devise a way of working as partners to start a business drawing on each other's strengths to become a team. They pretend to marry to get Peeta housing and to keep men away from Katniss. Will they work as business partners? Or screw it up? Or work through their problems and feelings to become more? Prompt 94: Hate group vows to drive all olive skinned people over the fence and keep them out of D12. Katniss prepares for the worst. Does she ask Peeta, the kindest man she knows, to marry Prim? Does she fight back with her voice, the law, her bow? [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 97: Peeta is promised to marry Delly, or another merchant girl, but she ends up getting pregnant by Gale. Peeta must marry to keep the bakery in the family, but there is no one available but Seam girls. His mother tries to convince Mrs. Everdeen to let him marry Prim, but she is too young and of course he really wants to marry Katniss. Secretly she wants him too. Prompt 98: Peeta is pining for Katniss, but is about to give up because he can't figure out a way to get her to notice him and he is being pestered to marry a merchant. He also thinks Katniss is already with Gale. Somehow, he ends up following her or he is already in the woods when Katniss shows up. Katniss, believing she is alone, pleasures herself. When she is finished, she says Peeta's name. Of course he realizes that he needs to pursue her. [submitted by Anonymous]
Prompt 99: Canon-divergent. Katniss develops a habit of sleepwalking which she only realizes when she discovers love bites appearing on various areas of her skin from seemingly no where. Embarrassed by the stares she receives around the District, she grows confused by Peeta Mellark's increasingly strange behavior towards her. [submitted by Anonymous]
Prompt 100: "See, this is why no one lets you make the plans." Pregnant,unwed, underage Prim will be punished unless Katniss hides the pregnancy, pretends baby is hers. Caught and tangling others into deception, Katniss agrees to another plan: marry Peeta, pretend it's his so Prim can move on with her life. But then Rye forfeits bakery, claims child, wants to marry Prim. Only way to keep up lies and to let Prim have her own baby now is for Katniss to get pregnant, too, because of strict antiabortion laws. [submitted by Anonymous]

Prompt 102: I've had this one in my head for a while but know I could never do it justice. Edward Sheeran's Perfect everlarked. 'When you said you looked a mess/I whispered underneath my breath/you heard it/darling you look perfect tonight...' Prompt 110: I know it's too late but it's worth a shot. This prompt popped in my head and I had to try. Everlark are at the beach and Peeta gets attacked by a shark and loses his leg. Peeta is rushed to the hospital where Katniss stays by his side and the story goes into Peeta facing the reality of not having a leg. How does it affect his work life? Sex life?
