after i watched and rewatched ginny & georgia one too many times ntflx has been seriously pushing gilmore girls on me, so i finally caved and started a rewatch. i havent touched this show since like spring 2016 during my textbook writing days when i binged watched it for the first time on ted's ancient 90s tv which was the only tv we had in our burgh rowhouse bc we were Hipster like that. and literally it was like every day straight for weeks on end id spend twelve hrs sculpting and programming for the book in my office and then come home at like 3am and collapse on the couch and eat peanut butter out of the can with a spoon and watch gilmore girls to get my mind to Stop-Obsessing-Over-Textbook-Writing till i passed out wrapped in one of those red clingy d*lta airplane blankets ted stole collected, and then wake up at 8am when jon left for work cause the art store always opened early and his footsteps on the wooden stairs could wake the dead. (Or sometimes at like 6am when ted would come downstairs to make his 'midnight' snack of cinnamon toast and then our whole house would smell like cinnamon till morning)
anyway no point to this except you know how nostalgic things can become and how vividly one can remember sources of comfort? ridiculously little things like still remembering the texture of ted's ugly carpet, or the feel of the wood floor and the rough cotton couch, and the looming presence of that huge stone fireplace that took up most of the room. i really did enjoy my early mornings spent sitting in our cozy little house watching an old tv show on our silly old tv knowing my friends were fast asleep upstairs.
