Famous Ukrainian rock band Okean Elzy (Океан Ельзи) performs an Ukrainian traditional song "Ой, чий там кінь стоїть" during the concert on the Independence Day of Ukraine (День Незалежності України) in 2018.
In Poland this song is known as "Dumka Bohuna".
Have I mentioned, that it was the first song I learned to sing in Ukrainian?
The Okean Elzy concert was amazing and my footage for this song ends right as an incoming giant Ukrainian flag came in like parachute day at school
But I just want to say with absolute joy that they chose to do a local callout at one point by playing the opening of Smells Like Teen Spirit and I pogo’ed so hard in my little heeled leather boots that my calves were still sore this morning from my attempts to levitate four feet in the air 😂
Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, Misto Mariyi (live on the bridge that stood)
"Today, 10/10/2022, I sang songs on our Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge in Kyiv, in particular, "Mary's City", which is dedicated to Mariupol. And do you know why? They say that the structure of the bridge is made of Azovstal steel. The bridge is standing!
Today, Russian missiles once again terrorized Ukraine and Kyiv.
But they will never succeed in destroying the bridge between the souls and hearts of Ukrainians!"
Azov - steel!
We will win!
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to heroes!
Life was so much simpler in 1998, when we just had Slavko Vakarchuk sitting in a fridge, singing to a garlic, followed by a cinematic eating of vegetables.
