The Road to Reliability: How Regular Maintenance Prevents Costly Auto Repairs
Owning a vehicle is a significant investment, and ensuring its reliability and longevity should be a top priority for every driver. While auto repairs are inevitable as vehicles age, many costly issues can be prevented through regular maintenance. In this article, we'll explore the importance of regular maintenance in keeping your vehicle running smoothly and how it can help you avoid expensive repairs down the road.
The Cost of Neglect:
Neglecting regular maintenance can lead to a host of problems, ranging from minor inconveniences to major safety hazards. Failing to change the oil regularly, for example, can result in engine damage due to inadequate lubrication, leading to costly repairs or even engine failure. Similarly, neglecting to check and replace worn brake pads can compromise braking performance, putting you and your passengers at risk of accidents.
Tumblr media
Preventative Maintenance:
Regular maintenance serves as a proactive approach to vehicle care, addressing small issues before they escalate into more significant problems. This includes tasks such as oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, brake inspections, and engine tune-ups. By staying on top of these routine maintenance tasks, you can identify and address potential issues early, saving you both time and money in the long run.
Oil Changes:
One of the most critical aspects of regular maintenance is changing the engine oil at the recommended intervals. Engine oil lubricates the engine's moving parts, reduces friction, and helps dissipate heat. Over time, oil breaks down and becomes contaminated with dirt and debris, reducing its effectiveness. Regular oil changes prevent engine wear and prolong the life of vital components, such as the pistons, bearings, and crankshaft.
Fluid Checks:
In addition to engine oil, other fluids in your vehicle, such as coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and power steering fluid, play crucial roles in maintaining optimal performance and reliability. Regularly checking and replenishing these fluids ensures that your vehicle's systems operate smoothly and prevents costly damage caused by fluid leaks or low fluid levels.
Tire Maintenance:
Proper tire maintenance is essential for safety, fuel efficiency, and overall vehicle performance. Regularly checking tire pressure, rotating tires, and inspecting for signs of wear or damage can help you avoid blowouts and premature tire replacement. Additionally, maintaining proper tire inflation levels can improve fuel economy and prolong the life of your tires, saving you money in the long term.
Conclusion:
Regular maintenance is the key to keeping your vehicle reliable, safe, and cost-effective to operate. By investing time and resources into preventative maintenance, you can avoid expensive auto repairs and enjoy a smoother driving experience. Whether you perform maintenance tasks yourself or rely on the expertise of a professional mechanic, prioritizing regular maintenance will pay off in the form of increased reliability and peace of mind on the road.

The Top Challenges Faced by NEMT Providers
Understanding the Importance of NEMT Services and the Challenges They Encounter
Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) services play a crucial role in ensuring that individuals with medical needs have access to safe and reliable transportation. These services are specifically designed to cater to patients who require transportation for non-emergency medical appointments, such as doctor visits, dialysis treatments, or physical therapy sessions.
In Houston, Texas, NEMT providers play a vital role in bridging the transportation gap for individuals who may not have access to their own vehicles or are unable to drive due to medical conditions. These providers offer specialized vehicles and trained drivers who can accommodate patients with various mobility challenges.
The importance of NEMT services cannot be overstated. They help ensure that individuals can receive timely and necessary healthcare by providing them with a convenient and accessible mode of transport. Without these services, many patients would face significant barriers in accessing essential medical care
1. Regulatory Compliance: Navigating a Complex Landscape
Navigating the complex landscape of regulatory compliance can be a daunting task, particularly in industries such as non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) where adherence to specific rules and regulations is crucial. From transportation compliance to Medicaid transportation rules, and even considerations like HIPAA compliance, staying on top of these requirements is essential for businesses operating in this space.
Understanding and complying with NEMT regulations is vital to ensure the safety and well-being of patients during their transportation. These regulations encompass various aspects, including vehicle standards, driver qualifications, insurance requirements, and more. Failing to meet these standards can result in penalties or even the suspension of operations.
In addition to NEMT regulations, businesses must also navigate the intricacies of Medicaid transportation rules. These guidelines outline the eligibility criteria for Medicaid beneficiaries requiring non-emergency medical transport services. Compliance with these rules ensures that services are provided only to those who qualify under Medicaid guidelines.
2. Cost Management: Balancing Quality Service with Efficiency
By implementing effective cost management practices, healthcare transportation providers can optimize their operations and minimize unnecessary expenses. One key approach is to identify areas where operational costs can be reduced without compromising the quality of service. This could involve streamlining processes, improving route planning, or implementing technology solutions that enhance efficiency.Another important aspect of NEMT cost management is fostering strategic partnerships with vendors and suppliers. Negotiating favorable contracts and pricing agreements can help reduce procurement costs for vehicles, fuel, maintenance services, and other essential resources.
One effective way to manage costs is by implementing routine vehicle maintenance and fleet management strategies. Regularly scheduled maintenance not only ensures the longevity of your vehicles but also helps identify potential issues before they become major problems. By staying on top of maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks, you can prevent costly breakdowns and reduce the risk of unexpected repairs.
3. Transportation Network Coordination: Building Strong Partnerships
Collaborating with healthcare facilities allows NEMT providers to establish a network that can cater to the specific needs of patients. By working closely with hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare organizations, transportation providers can gain valuable insights into patient requirements, scheduling preferences, and any specific medical considerations.
Through effective communication and coordination with healthcare providers, NEMT networks can ensure that patients receive timely and appropriate transportation services. This collaboration enables the smooth transfer of patients from one facility to another, reducing delays and improving overall patient experience.
Successful network coordination also requires a proactive approach in identifying potential challenges or gaps in the system. Regular meetings with healthcare partners can help identify areas for improvement and facilitate problem-solving discussions. By addressing these challenges collaboratively, organizations can enhance their ability to deliver high-quality care while optimizing resources.
4. Driver Recruitment & Retention: Addressing Workforce Challenges
In the non-emergency medical transport (NEMT) sector, the shortage of drivers has become a pressing challenge. As the demand for NEMT services continues to rise, it is crucial to address the workforce challenges faced by companies in recruiting and retaining qualified drivers.
To tackle this issue, implementing effective driver recruitment strategies is essential. One such strategy is targeting specific demographics that may have an interest in this line of work, such as retired individuals or those seeking flexible working hours. By tailoring recruitment efforts towards these groups, companies can tap into a potential pool of dedicated and experienced candidates.
Providing ongoing training and professional development opportunities is another key strategy to attract and retain drivers. This shows them that the company values their growth and wants to invest in their success. By offering training programs, certifications, or other educational opportunities, companies can help drivers enhance their skills, stay up-to-date with industry trends, and feel more confident in their roles
Overcoming Challenges for a Successful NEMT Provider
As a non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) provider in Houston, Texas, there are several challenges that you may face. However, with the right strategies and solutions in place, you can overcome these challenges and ensure a successful operation for your NEMT business.
while there may be challenges involved in operating a successful NEMT business like Royalty Medical Transportation in Houston Texas , by implementing efficient systems for scheduling and communication, prioritizing professionalism and customer service, building strong relationships with healthcare providers, and utilizing effective marketing strategies, you can overcome these challenges and thrive in the competitive NEMT industry.

Doing The Daily: Tasting Real Life Together In Your Christian Dating Relationship
Tackle a Chore: One Way To Experience Real Life In Your Christian Dating Relationship
My idea of superwoman is someone who scrubs her own floors. – Bette Midler
It can be easy to get completely swept away by the tide of romantic thrills. When a relationship launches everything can seem euphoric, sensational and surreal. Getting inundated with fantastical notions is quite possible.
One of the biggest reasons why so many of the couples established on The Bachelor(ette) shows split following the season is that their relationship was founded on fantasy. Before the much-hyped fantasy-suite, they are systematically regaled by a sequence of surreal dating experiences. Skiing in the Alps, private concerts in city squares, and seaside candlelit dinners become common-place. They dine in style while someone else cleans the plates and sweeps the floors. There isn’t a hint of the “real” daily rigor that would be encountered in any daily home and work environment.
TV Fantasy Dating Land
Seriously, have you ever seen the Bachelor or Bachelorette contestants tackle a chore together?  During these first thirty days, we recommend that fun permeate your time together. You should be vibrant and youthful, but also a bit grounded. By adding a dose of your every day to the happy pep of marriage pursuit, you begin to incorporate accurate slices of your life into your relationship. Let’s be candid for a moment; everyone’s life has elements that are routine and unglamorous. There is plenty of tide detergent and toenail clipping, tire rotations and tooth cleanings for all of us.
The introduction of your significant other into this aspect of your life will convey your developing vision for a normal life together. Making a plan to meet for an oil change or stop by the pharmacy shows that you’ve reached a new comfort level, a plateau of reality! You are ready to allow this person to more deeply integrate into your life. Get excited to tackle a chore.
Our First Christian Dating Relationship Chore Together
Jenn and I first tackled a chore by picking up a batch of healthy, ready to eat meals from My Fit Foods19 as it was launching in Houston. I had become a raving fan of the concept (amen for quick, healthy meals to stock my bachelor refrigerator!) and the product line, even developing a friendship with the proprietors. Visiting the original My Fit store on Shepherd Drive became a ritual for Jenn and me when she came to the city. We would visit our pals inside, sample new nutritional products and each leave with a loaded bag of sustenance for the week. Participating in this task allowed us to share our health and fitness goals with each other and jointly increase our nutritional knowledge base. To this day we have great memories of those trips to My Fit Foods.
While taking the step of tackling a chore you might reveal a part of yourself that has made you insecure—the medical challenge, personal care routine, or financial fear that has been nagging you. While you are tackling the chore you will have a window to share and reveal things to your significant other. So get real and serious about tackling a chore in the first month since no marriage is errand-free!
Tackle A Chore:
Drop the fantasy land notions and get real.
Introduce your significant other to your daily life.
Open up while you tackle the chore together.

Walkin' on Sunshine
Tuesday, November 3, 2020
It had been warm enough last night that we left most of the insulating window shades off when we went to bed, especially those to the east. That let the sun's rays wake us gently while we lounged in bed.
Tim walked Amber and made coffee. Jeanne wasn't even out of bed when Tim suggested moving the RV from its level overnight spot to a more tilted one with a much better view of Sand Canyon out the side door.
Driving into position next to the canyon scared the bejeezsus out of Jeanne because from the bed all she could see was the too-rapidly approaching rim of the canyon. Danger averted, we sat outside watching the sunrise and sipping fresh hot java.
Tumblr media
People are always asking us where we plan to go next. Truth be told, we don't know ourselves. Over pancake breakfast, we decided to go on a hike to see the pueblo ruins at the bottom of the other end of Sand Canyon.
Tumblr media
There was supposed to be a scenic overlook at the end of the Jeep road we were camped on. We set out to find the view, but the road was rough enough that we did not expect not get there until lunchtime. Tha would mean we would have to backtrack the whole distance before we could take our hike. We bailed and headed directly for the trailhead on the other side of Cortez.
We stopped to watch a tarantula cross the road.
But first we need water. Cortez has a public RV dump and recycle center. We dumped and cleaned the portapotty, recycled weeks of our cans, and looked for water. They have potable water for $0.05 a gallon. It takes quarters. We had some laughs refilling our tanks. It was a great price — $1.00 — considering that some campgrounds charge $20 to refill the water tank.
Tumblr media
The Sand Canyon hike was wonderful. There were no spectacular ruins like at Mesa Verde, but as we walked up the canyon we spent the entire time thinking about what it must have been like to live there. We saw walls where buildings had been.
Tumblr media
We saw cliff caves that must have been home to generations of families.
Tumblr media
We saw rock ladders carved into the sandstone. We saw a rock window in a cliff that must have enticed many young explorers.
Tumblr media
We saw house-sized boulders that had toppled from the cliffs. We wondered when they had fallen. 10 years ago? 100? 1,000? What had changed since the Ancients had lived there? What was still the same?
Tumblr media
What hasn't changed is our need to start for home. Along the way we plan to stop in Houston to attend a funeral service for a friend of Jeanne’s — the husband of her girlfriend who died 18 months ago. Their son, another gaming friend, has lost both parents in 18 months. It’s important to us to go — particularly since we are available and it is in the direction of home, albeit a major detour.
To help us get there, we stop at a Jiffy Lube to change the oil and rotate the tires. Leaving, we push the fancy Mercedes button that displays the tire pressure on the dashboard. It is exactly backwards from what we expected, with 70 PSI in the front and 45 in the rear. We return to the shop, where the manager manually checks the pressure in each tire and confirms they are set correctly. We push the fancy Mercedes button that tells the tire pressure system to reset, and slink away toward our boondocking site in New Mexico. Some time later, we recheck the tire pressure, not find the system.has corrected itself.
We reach the Farmington, NM public lands after dark, and drive around feeling for a good site with our now well-rotated tires. We locate a site at the top of a hill that has promise for good views in the morning. It’s a dirt road that heads steeply uphill. We drop into 4WD Low Range and rock crawl up. Tim gets out to scout a dark corner and again to ensure we had a place to turn around before we commit to another steep hill. There was, and we pulled off the road, marveling at the 360° view of hills dimly lit by the gibbous moon.
A tasty sausage dinner and off to bed to dream of blue waves rolling across the Potomac toward the Capitol.

Here are 5 Things Ford Is Doing to Improve Your Customer Experience
Ford has 99 million customers globally, half of them in the U.S., and adds about 6 million new customers a year. But when it comes to offering a good customer experience that will keep them coming back for more, the automaker is mid-pack.
Not good enough, top leadership said. So Elena Ford was appointed to the new position of Chief Customer Experience Officer in October 2018, and she became a champion for how the company bearing her family name can make it easier to buy, own, and operate a Ford vehicle. The hope is happy customers will buy another Ford and tell their friends to do the same. “We live in a recommendation culture,” Elena Ford said. “Word of mouth makes or breaks.”
The commitment to customer service was lacking, she says, but now it is a priority for top leadership and all parts of the company are working on it. Investment in this area has doubled.
Elena Ford
After a year of development, a host of new initiatives will go into place. They range from new types of dealerships to better ways to operate call centers and offer roadside assistance, service, and maintenance, and a new loyalty program for owners.
Benchmarks included Lexus and Toyota, as well as the company’s own Lincoln luxury brand that has made concierge-like service a foundation of its revival. But Elena Ford also spent time meeting with, and taking notes from, companies such as Delta, Starbucks, Marriott hotels, Apple, and JetBlue.
Here are the highlights of what the customer experience team is introducing:
FordPass Rewards
Automakers have never been good at loyalty plans, but Ford is taking a new stab at it with a program that gives you 42,000 points when you buy or lease a new vehicle. Points are also earned with service appointments or the purchase of tires or other parts. The 42,000 points is enough to cover the first three service appointments, or they can be saved for a larger repair later, to buy aftermarket parts, or help pay for a new car. Executives say 100 percent of Ford dealers have enrolled in the program and the points can be used anywhere in the country.
New customer call center in Houston
This is the new model for call centers in the future. Opening next week, a new nationwide call center in Houston brings on 500 people and introduces a model where the customer service rep who answers your call stays with you to address your problem instead of transferring you from person to person. It is a model Lincoln adopted with success.
The automaker is also improving the service you get from calling into the FordPass center because you are locked out of your car, need information on the rewards program, or have a question about your Sync infotainment system. Those who work on roadside assistance are also rethinking how they triage calls from those in distress.
Better service
Ford is running a pilot program with five mobile service trucks, starting with one operated by a dealer in California. Four more will be added this month using a dealer in Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, and Florida. The high-top F-350s have the equipment needed to come to you to perform an oil change, tire rotation, light repairs or maintenance, software updates, and recalls. The dealer owns and operates the van, and sets pricing and appointments.
At dealerships, express service bays will be staffed to handle oil changes and light repairs in 60 minutes or less.
To address the growing shortage of technicians, Ford is working to encourage high school students to pursue this career path. Dealers are working with junior colleges while Ford provides vehicles, engines, and transmissions to classrooms.
Renew that lease
To address the confusing and stressful act of renewing a lease, Ford Credit will have a team of personal lease assistants to help, starting about four months before the lease expires. A new Drive New Now website will have personalized information. Knowing the model you are turning in, it will find a vehicle with the same trim level and features that’s available at a nearby dealership. It will also show upgraded models that are immediately available for consideration.
Better dealerships
Traditional dealerships or Signature stores are being redesigned to be more inviting and user-friendly, knowing most people have done their online homework and have arrived to finalize the deal. There will be 300 in place globally by the end of the year.
Ford is also introducing mini outlets, or Smart Labs, in high traffic main areas of malls where shoppers can view a few models and take a test drive with the small fleet parked outside. One in a mall in Turin, Italy, sells about 50 cars a month which are delivered via a dealership about 15 miles away. There will be six in total this year in the U.S., Canada, and Germany, and the first one is to open in Brussels, Belgium.
Another initiative called Ford Points puts smaller, 300,000 sq.-ft. dealerships in rural areas with the first one operating in Thailand.

Car maintenance tips to keep your car running for many years longer!
Cars may be inanimate objects but just like us they need to be looked after and cared for to keep them healthy, fit, and to deliver peak performance, which in the driver’s world is referred to as “Car maintenance”. Regular car maintenance can help you keep your car on the road longer and safer, and avoid a big hit on your pocket.
Below is a list that our mechanics at Houston Direct Auto have compiled to help you keep your car functioning smoothly, and preventing minor issues before they become a larger concern.
Take the help of the Owner Manual.
Nothing can be a better preventive measure than following the schedule maintenance in your car’s owner manual. Every car comes with an owner’s manual and it varies widely by the type and brand of vehicle you drive. If you are unable to find one you should be able to find it online on your car manufacturer’s website or you can ask for a copy from your dealer. The owner manual can give you an idea of what to look for and specifies how often to get the car oil changed, advice on tire rotation, fluids, and parts replacement, and other basic car maintenance chores.
Let your car Drink.  Its healthy!
All cars have a drinking problem and by that, we don’t just mean the fuel but also coolant, brake fluid, wiper fluid, and oil. Well, it cannot really be called a drinking problem because your car needs all of these to run smoothly, however, the insufficient supply of any of these could create a problem. Especially, you need to ensure your car has the right quantity and quality of motor engine oil which helps keep the critical parts of the car’s engine lubricated and keeps parts from grinding against each other.  It is good to change your car’s engine oil every 5000 miles. Your car’s owner manual should tell you the service and viscosity requirements and accordingly, you can choose between conventional motor oil or synthetic oil.
Do-It-Yourself.
One of the reasons why people wait till it’s too late is that they don't often have the time or don’t like spending money for their car’s regular maintenance at their car service center.  That is why it is highly recommended that you learn some basics of your car and car maintenance to save time and money by doing some auto repair and maintenance yourself. It may not really be a walk in the park, but it isn’t rocket science as well. Learn how to check Fluids, Belts, Hoses, Battery, Air Filter, Tire pressure, Brakes, Wiper blades, etc.  Some maintenance things are not too complicated and can be done at home all by yourself and at your convenience. For thorough maintenance, however, it is always best to take your car to a service center, or an auto mechanic or shop.
Pay Attention
Always be alert and listen to your instincts.  If you feel, see or smell anything unusual or weird, without delay get your car inspected as soon as possible. An unusual noise or shake from your car may be a sign that something is wrong. Most modern cars come with a variety of sophisticated warning systems help identify and fix the issues in the car easily which can sometimes go undetected. Some of these warning lights include – Check Engine light (most dreaded), Service engine light, Oil warning light, Brake light, Coolant warning light, etc.
Remember your car cannot take care of itself.  Delaying preventive maintenance or evident problems, sounds, or leaks will inevitably lead your car to more expensive and time-consuming repairs later on. Regular maintenance is essential for your wallet, your time, and peace of mind. It might seem burdensome, but the effort is worth it over time.

Customer reviews on social media can make or break a service department

Customer reviews on social media can make or break a service department
LEO MICHAEL
Online customer reviews of dealership service departments are the farthest-reaching, longest-lasting form of word-of-mouth advertising. Fixed operations managers need to appreciate and harness the power of social media, which increasingly drive consumers to — or away from — service lanes.
Scholars Tracy Tuten and Michael Solomon, authors of Social Media Marketing, conclude that on average consumers consult more than 10 sources of information before they buy a product or service. “But the most influential are reviews and ratings,” they say.
Seth Guida, senior manager of customer experience operations at Nissan Motor Co., says the automaker works with its dealerships on strategies for reputation management, including on social media. Nissan urges service departments to designate the same employee to respond to all online reviews, good and bad, Guida told Fixed Ops Journal.
When a review is negative, Guida says, it’s important that the response is respectful and well written, and commits only to what the service department can deliver to address the grievance. Civil discourse with an angry customer, he adds, goes a long way toward “fostering a long-term relationship with the dealership.”
Rapid response
Ross Berman, executive manager of Berman Auto Group, says service managers at the group’s five Chicago-area dealerships are instructed to respond within hours after online complaints are brought to their attention.
“If it’s really egregious, you want to take it offline,” Berman says. “You don’t want it out there. The whole point is to stop things from going viral. You want to make things right.”

Remedies can range from a free oil change to a loaner vehicle while a repair dispute is resolved. But often, Berman says, “we don’t really have to give people much by way of free things. They just want to vent.”
If service departments don’t address poor or mixed reviews within 24 to 48 hours, the chances of resolving a disgruntled customer’s concerns drop significantly, says David Brondstetter, CEO of SureCritic, a Seattle company that helps dealerships gather consumer feedback and alerts managers to negative reviews.
“An upset customer that you fix is more loyal than customers you never hear from,” he says. “Dealerships will be rewarded with an increase in customer-pay retention when service managers get involved in concern resolution.”
The worst thing a service department can do is ignore a bad online review, says Jamie Oldershaw, general manager of dealership review site DealerRater.com, a subsidiary of Cars.com.
“When a dealership hasn’t met the expectation of a customer, it’s important they respond and take a diplomatic tone and explain the situation,” he says. “It’s the three A’s: acknowledge, apologize and act.”
At the same time, a service department needs to cite positive reviews, Oldershaw says, because “the service lane is really what makes or breaks the dealer’s reputation.” Service reviews for dealerships are “like gold,” he adds.
“It’s a lot harder for a dealership to earn a [good] service review than a sales review,” he says. “There has to be something about it that makes you want to share with other consumers that your expectations were exceeded.”
Although fixed ops managers may not like negative feedback, many say customer criticism can identify areas of needed improvement.
“Social media helps us get better,” says Doug Ikner, service director at Helfman Ford in the Houston suburb of Stafford, Texas. “If no one ever lets you know where you’re weak, how are you ever going to better yourself as a company? I would rather hear that than not hear it.”
Adds Jeff Smith, the dealership’s general manager: “When we see somebody saying something negative about us, I say, ‘Let’s go pull [the repair order]. Did we do something wrong? Was there a misunderstanding? Let’s get in touch with the customer.
“Our managers have the authority and the ability to make a decision on their feet,” Smith adds. “I tell them all the time, if a hundred or two hundred dollars will resolve an issue, then resolve it, even if you feel like you’re 100 percent right. Resolve it and move on.”
More transparency
DealerRater’s Oldershaw says service departments can avoid a lot of negative online reviews — and the costs of addressing them — by becoming more transparent and candid about their operations.
“If you advertise a 45-minute quick lube or tire rotation and it takes two or three hours, you must do a better job of setting expectations,” he says. “When the service department doesn’t do a good job, the consumer leaves upset and will seek out a place to vent.”
Brondstetter says there’s not much a service department can do about so-called trolls who often use anonymous user names and try to make trouble by posting inflammatory comments and even false accusations.
“There are people who are just going to flame you no matter what,” Brondstetter says. “But if you have a review strategy to put your good customer reviews out in volume, they’re going to have a greater impact and the negative reviews will have less weight.”

How to Use Predictive Analytics for Mobile App Development
It’s among the most common wishes: the ability to predict the future. You’re probably one of the millions to think, “If only I’d invested in stock in 1984 when Apple first became a publicly-traded company!” The power of prediction is something we’ve been dreaming about and attempting throughout history, as evidenced by Nostradamus’ eerily prophetic quatrains in the 1500s.
As technology gives us new abilities bordering on superpowers, this could even include the capacity to predict future events. In fact, the EMBERS Project, based at Virginia Tech, has been using publicly-available data—including social media posts, news articles, financial market data, meteorological data, satellite imagery and restaurant reservations—to predict social events since 2012. From protests and social uprisings to weather events and disease epidemics, EMBERS has been on-point several times, demonstrating the power of predictive analytics.
Predictive analytics take typical mobile app analytics to the next level. They pull from many areas of modern technology, such as traditional stats and user data, data mining/modeling and artificial intelligence. You can leverage predictive analytics to offer user recommendations and forecast the future of your business in order to increase engagement levels, drive sales and make more informed business decisions. In a marketing context, predictive analytics are extremely useful for fine-tuning your sales strategy. Companies are even blending predictive analytics and mobile app technology with the IoT to develop cost-saving preventative maintenance programs.
Predictive Analytics to Make Recommendations and Pinpoint Hot Products For E-Commerce Apps
E-commerce mobile apps can increase sales by monitoring user activity and making recommendations for songs, movies, games, books or other products. Amazon reported a 29 percent increase in sales after integrating product recommendations at multiple points in the browsing and purchasing process.
One Forrester analyst indicated that “Amazon’s conversion to sales of on-site recommendations could be as high as 60% in some cases based off the performance of other e-commerce sites.” And the same dynamic could happen with e-commerce apps. In fact, the impact could be even greater for your app since studies indicate a higher conversion rate when you integrate product recommendations. E-commerce apps perform, on average, 120 percent better than mobile websites and 20 percent better than desktop websites.
Predictive analytics programs gather data on user habits and actual sales to determine which products are gaining momentum. A sophisticated algorithm could even draw from other data sources to identify popularity indicators on e-commerce websites, social media platforms and the web as a whole. Hot products (or soon-to-be-hot products) generate a lot of “buzz.” The algorithm could evaluate all this data to predict which products you should promote and feature in your e-commerce app.
Predicting User Behaviors and Recommending Service Offerings
Service providers, such as banks, are leveraging predictive analytics to identify high-risk areas in terms of fraud or other losses. But with your mobile app, service providers can use analytics data to make recommendations or decisions that increase customer satisfaction, such as:
Monitoring the customer’s purchases, including the amount, location and frequency. An algorithm can detect unusual activity and predict potentially fraudulent transactions. The app then asks security questions only the customer would know. This keeps the account secure while helping the customer avoid unnecessary security-related account freezes.
Using a mobile app to communicate with an IoT-enabled vehicle, collecting data that can be used to make recommendations for vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs. The app could offer information on the closest service center and suggestions for when maintenance should be performed. An app could even make general preventative maintenance recommendations for older vehicles that lack the “smarts” of new cars. After all, many maintenance needs, like oil changes and tire rotations, are based on mileage—data that’s easy to gather with basic GPS technology.
Using GPS data to determine which bank branch or ATM is closest to a customer’s office, home or other location. The app then generates an alert on the next app launch to point the customer to the closest ATM or bank branch. Algorithms can even identify when a customer travels to a further ATM or branch because they didn’t realize there was another one nearby. A “did you know…” alert may be generated in response, delivering a better customer experience.
Using mobile apps in conjunction with monitoring devices to predict a driver’s risk level. The insurance industry is already using in-vehicle monitoring to evaluate driver risk levels, but most insurers use IoT-enabled monitoring pods, which are costly to operate. A less expensive solution is to use a mobile app that gathers and beams out data using the driver’s smartphone. Mobile apps can even collect data from the vehicle (like RPMs, speed and steering and braking data) since most new cars feature Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities. The app sends this in-car data through an algorithm to predict the driver’s risk level in order to ensure the driver pays an insurance rate representative of their actual driving habits.
Insurance apps could also make predictions on which forms of coverage and service recommendations you’d be likely to purchase. For instance, if the app taps into your device’s GPS and browser history, it may see you’ve Googled “dog training tips,” and your GPS indicates you spent two hours at a vet and three hours at a dog park. Based on this information, the insurance app could predict you own a dog and recommend pet insurance.
Of course, this degree of data sharing may exceed some users’ comfort levels. Younger users tend to be more comfortable with information sharing, while older generations are more reluctant to trust technology in this way. You should evaluate what percentage of your user base will actually grant permissions to access the data your predictive analytics interface needs to make accurate recommendations.
Leveraging Predictive Analytics to Identify Trends in Device Usage
Mobile app developers invest a lot of time testing apps to ensure the application performs well on the devices people actually use. Of course, each app’s user base is different, so it’s challenging to predict what new devices and operating system versions to focus on when updating, testing and improving your app’s interface.
Your developer can configure your analytics interface to gather data on each user’s device, hardware and operating system. Based on this information, an algorithm identifies emerging trends and makes predictions. For example, if your predictive analytics indicate 15 percent of user will use a specific device in six months, your development team should ensure your app delivers a smooth user experience on that device.
Predictive analytics are an emerging region of the mobile app development world, so it’s vital that you work with a cutting-edge mobile app development company.
