I mentally rehearse seeing Armie. Friendly, professional, collected, distant. Boundaried.
No blushing, no looking away in confusion or holding his gaze. The eye contact has to be just right. Firm and decisive like a good handshake. My face has to stay neutral not give everything away as it usually does. Don’t let him touch me, avoid all physical contact else it’ll be my down fall.
If he asks how I’ve been I’ll say I’ve been busy. Set the tone. Don’t go there. I won’t ask how he’s been. I won’t be able to bear the answer, truthful or not.
“I’ve been fine.”
“Liar.”
“I’ve been sad.”
“Me too, I missed you. I need you.”
Both traps that I’m determined to avoid. This time I’ll protect my heart from the start, despite being desperate to see him again just so as I can breathe once more.
Part Two of a Home For Life. Please repost.
Photo for attention…because well dammit, look at him.
