i have a suggestion for people interested in a relatively cheap aac option. (unfortunately will only work for people with legible handwriting/the ability to write in general)

lcd drawing/writing tablets! the most popular name brand is boogie boards, but they’re pretty expensive for what they are and knock offs do exactly the same thing for half (or even less) of the price. mine was about $11.

this is mine:

it doesn’t speak, it’s basically like a reusable notepad. but if communicating through writing works for you, this is a convenient, lightweight, very practical option. it easily slides into a backpack or bag and could even be worn on some types of lanyards.
