Naomi was still in the kitchen cooking, but the rest of them had moved over to the living room. Michael was sitting on the floor, playing with Carter and Will and Nico were cuddled on the couch. Will still had an arm around his shoulders possessively and Nico couldn’t find it in himself to complain. He liked that Will was basically claiming him as his. Jealous Will was kind of hot, he couldn’t lie. “It’s all in good fun,” Michael replied.
-
“Don’t you have someone else to terrorize?” Will asked, pulling Nico to his side again. Nico settled against him comfortably. “Nope,” Michael grinned, tickling Carter when he crawled back over to him. “I’m all yours today so you and your gorgeous piece of eye candy get to have me all to yourselves.” Will rolled his eyes, clearly used to Michael’s attitude. Nico had to remind himself that this was just how Michael’s personality was.
-
"Well, he's mine," Will says, wrapping his arms around Nico. Nico smiles, detecting the subtle jealousy in Will's actions. "I know, bro, but I appreciate beautiful things." Naomi sighs. "Feel free to tell him off," she says to Nico. Michael looks like he wants to respond when Lee walks in. "Hey, guys." He hugs Naomi before flicking Michael's ear. He ruffles Will's hair. "Oh, and Nico this is Katie. Katie, Nico. And the kids. Charlie and Beck." Katie grins. "Oh my gosh, that was your cake recipe!”
-/-/-
Nico blushed and ducked his head. “I heard that cute baby of yours had a birthday!” Lee said with a laugh. Nico nodded and smiled, introducing Carter to everyone. It was loud and boisterous, and Carter took it as well as Nico expected he would. The boys wanted to play a little too roughly, but they figured out something they could all do at their own pace together. Nico was so happy to see Carter interacting and enjoying the time with family.

Commentary: Food Shows are the Comfort Food During this Crisis
For the last month, since the COVID-19 crisis has hit our country pretty hard; I knew that I had to change some things in my daily route that was for the best and not. Yes, stay home and stay quarantine is the best way to keep the situation contained. But I'm talking about how I have added less of news coverage and added more food shows that have really put a comfort.
You could ask my family members, friends, that I don't start off my day or morning till I watch my Today Show to get my news, weather, and pop culture news; but during this COVID-19 crisis going the news coverage has been one giant of a news cycle. So I've at least taken their own advice by staying positive and finding distractions and that's where I come to food shows.
Whether it's the Food Network, Cooking Channel or old show that you could purchase on Google Play; it is the utmost positive thing that I could have ever add in my daily route. While my weekend mornings are all Food Network shows from The Kitchen, Valerie's Home Cooking, The Pioneer Woman, and more. And I've added the fun and thrilling competition shows like Chopped, Guy's Grocery's Games and Beat Bobby Flay.
I've learned a lot from these shows and even cooked dishes as well. I've been pretty much the cook in my family since being my grandmother's home care aide.
While The Kitchen helps you show the fun, healthy, and excitement in cooking in your kitchen. The co-hosts of Jeff Maruo, Katie Lee, Sunny Anderson, and Geoffery Zakarian (aka G-Z) all bring their own method, techniques, and recipes that I've enjoyed so much.
The Pioneer Woman, Giada Entertains and Giada in Italy, Valerie's Home Cooking, and Girl Meets Farm cook fun and simple dishes that you could do. Also, their family stories are so good. I've really connected with them.
I do get my education with the classics like Good Eats and Good Eats Reloaded (both you can watch on Food Network and Cooking Channel). Good Eats stats Alton Brown who happens to be Mr. Wizard of food and helps dissect and educate the process of how to cook something like a steak, eggs, or even making shakshuka (for which I have made and blew my family's mind).
But maybe fun and excitement need to turn it up another level for you. That's where Guy's Grocery's Games come to play when Guy Fieri brings in chefs from around the country to compete on three tasks to make outrageous dishes under the minutes while Guy pulls off his tricks of the trade to make things really spicy and good.
While hearing the stories of the chefs that come to play are heartwarming; you just want to root them on. I do get a kick when Guy brings his friends to play and sometimes plays with their minds during April Fools episodes. It might keep your toes at times but you'll get a belly full of laughs.
And if you want some good old thrills and OMG moments, that's' where Chopped comes into play. At first, I wasn't into Chopped too much but since checking it out it's pretty good and wild on how some of these chefs get a task with what's in the basket. Right now there are two shows; the original Chopped is bring back former winners and going up against one of the judges. Last week's episode was so good; as four chefs had to beat each other to go against Scott Conant.
And there are Chopped Sweets hosted by Scott Conant as chefs come in to make desserts out of the mysterious box. It's enough to get me to eat chocolate and cupcakes after 9 pm. But why to stop there, there's  Supermarket Stakeout hosted by Alex Guarnachelli; as four chefs get $1000 and try to make a dish by taking shoppers groceries at the local grocery stores. And there's Beat Bobby Flay. Now, who doesn't want to see Bobby Flay get beat by other chefs?
But during this COVID-19 crisis taking away our March Madness; Food Network and Guy Fieri brings in the Tournament of Champions in the style of March Madness. 16 best chefs in the culinary and food network world going against each other to win it all. I disappointed not to get college basketball march madness. But the Tournament of Champions was the perfect replacement; as it had twisted and turns and moments that I thought one chef would win but didn't. I got my march madness thrills!
I've probably gone a little bit long here, but I'm just telling you what has helped me through this COVID-19 crisis. I've cut half of my news time for something that I could find that is helpful: cooking. I'm not looking to make a seven-course dinner. I'm just looking for something that could take my mind off of this chaos crisis not only by watching television shows; but cooking shows can make you laugh, cry, and even have some fun. Because isn't that what we need right now?

Food Network Kitchen brings live, interactive cooking classes to Echo Show, Fire TV & more
Someone is finally putting the Echo Show to good use. Today, Discovery announced the U.S. launch of its Food Network Kitchen subscription service which will bring daily live and on-demand cooking classes as well as on-demand classes, step-by-step instructional cooking videos, and more to Amazon Echo devices, including the smart screen Echo Show, as well as Fire TV, Fire tablets, and smartphones.
The service was initially unveiled in September at Amazon’s hardware event in Seattle, as a demonstration of how Alexa devices can be useful in the kitchen.
At the event, Bobby Flay spoke (via video) about his involvement, saying he was excited to be able to enter “basically any kitchen in the world, anywhere in the world,” to teach people how to cook.
Flay isn’t the only celeb chef or on-air personality involved with the new service.
The first month of live cooking classes will also feature Valerie Bertinelli, Anne Burrell, Giada De Laurentiis, Ree Drummond, Amanda Freitag, Katie Lee, Michael Symon, Buddy Valastro, Molly Yeh, Zac Young, Geoffrey Zakarian, and others.
In addition, the app will provide access to talent including Rachael Ray, Guy Fieri, Martha Stewart, Alton Brown, Ina Garten, Andrew Zimmern, Daniel Boulud, Sunny Anderson, Jonathan Waxman, Nancy Silverton, JJ Johnson, and more.
The Food Network Kitchen app itself is something of a mashup of live programming, on-demand video and a more traditional recipe app.
The live class schedules will be posted a week in advance, so you can make plans to tune in. But if you can’t make the daily classes, there are also hundreds of on-demand classes including 500 beginner courses, 395 international cuisine classes, and 75 family-friendly classes.
There are also hundreds of step-by-step videos as well as a curated selection of Food Network TV shows available.
Helpfully, the new app will integrate home delivery for all the ingredients used in the classes, recipes, and other instructional videos and shows so you can be ready to cook.
But what’s most interesting is how the live classes will work. The classes aren’t just being live-streamed to devices, like a live TV show. They’ll actually allow for two-way interaction between the users and the chefs, in real-time. This is, by far, one of the more original use cases for the Echo Show, in particular, to date.
Often, using devices while cooking can be difficult because fingers get messy or your screen shuts off.
Plus, today’s recipes sites are overrun with extra stories for SEO purposes and bogged down with ads and other clutter. And while there are plenty of great recipe apps, not as many have integrated with grocery delivery. They generally just provide a “shopping list” in the app, expecting users to go to the store to buy the ingredients.
In addition to modernizing the cooking experience, Discovery is also tying together Food Network’s TV channel and the Food Network Kitchen app, at times. For example, Rachael Ray’s 30 Minute Meals will return to Food Network with new episodes on November 9, 2019. The app users will be able to view all 10 episodes and tune in to take live classes with Rachael Ray every day during the week of Nov. 11th.
At other times, the app will offer seasonal series, like Christmas Cookie Challenge, Holiday Baking Championship, and Ultimate Hanukkah Challenge.
The service will offer a free 90-day trial and promotional pricing of $47.99 per year ($4/mo) at launch. This seems reasonable for anyone who regularly turns to cooking apps and videos, and wants more hands-on instruction. The price includes the hundreds of on-demand classes, 25 weekly classes, plus all the other recipes and shows.
Food Network Kitchen isn’t exclusive to Amazon devices at launch, because it’s also available on smartphones. But Amazon does have the exclusive in being the first “smart-speaker-with-screen” platform to support the app.
At launch, Food Network Kitchen will be available across Amazon Alexa and Echo Show, Fire Tablets, Fire TV streaming media devices and Fire TV Edition smart TVs, as well as iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android mobile devices.
