According to the outlet, authorities began investigating Nov. 5 when a boy and toddler were rushed to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Investigation
The investigation led authorities to the children's home, where her mother Romero was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds, the agency said.
Citing court documents, The Morning Sun reports Ashford admitted to killing Romero because he thought she was unfaithful to him. He also reportedly confessed to shooting his little boy.
According to the outlet, relatives said Ashford moved in from Romero in September 2021 and kept several firearms at the home, which police seized during the investigation.
In addition to the murder charge, authorities charged Ashford with not registering as a s*x offender, with possessing a firearm while prosecuting a violent crime, and after he was convicted of one felony, first-degree child molestation and two counts of domestic violence by a repeat offender . .
