Today's ridiculous wardrobe pondering: is the 13" silk bow on this enormously wide brimmed sun hat ridiculous ENOUGH? Or should I pull out one of the other sun hats and make an even larger bow?

Ms. Venters--where do you get your wonderful collection of big floppy goth hats?

The floppy wide-brimmed ones, not the slightly more structured, elaborately decorated wide-brimmed hats? The wool one is a vintage piece that was an INSANELY lucky find on eBay. One of the straw hats was from H&M two summers ago, and the one that has a slightly upturned brim and giant bow was a present from a friend, who found it at an estate sale; the original owner wore that hat to a Kentucky Derby back in the late 80s.

The elaborately decorated wide brim hats all started out as assorted wide-brim “church hats” that I found at thrift stores or eBay, then spent a couple evenings adding more tulle, ribbons, feathers, and bird skulls. :)

Yoooo, where’d this come from? And do they have a black version?

I got mine from Amazon, and I’m almost certain they have a black version. The hat is by Greatlookz.

Evolution of a hat.

Plain hat.

Add tulle, stitch down.

Add feathers. Add more feathers. Stitch into place.

Add antique jet buckle and silk millinery leaves, attached to a lace band. Sew everything into place
