“IF I WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND”

When Drew Merritt’s murals of women began garnering public attention, he recently told @Co_labs, he decided he’d continue painting them but on his own terms. “I don’t want to known as the pretty girl painter.” Merritt probably didn’t lessen the temptation to categorize his work in 2016 when he partnered with British artist INSA to create this immense portrait of @daniellealcaraz on New York Ave for Pow!Wow! Washington DC. With the figurative work left in Merritt’s capable hands INSA, who’s work comments on pop culture and consumerism, draped the model in yards and yards of fabric immediately recognizable to fans of his designs for Insa Leggings.  @drewmerritt/  @insa_gram/  @powwowdc/
