Day 6 — Confessing feelings (Gunter/Leigh)
This is one of my favourite scenarios to think about from Leigh’s perspective; admittedly I haven’t figured out the ideal confession for Gunter yet but I’m sure I’ll figure it out someday!
So for Leigh, they kinda come to the conclusion that they have a small crush on Gunter towards the end of book two/leading into book three. They were always going to keep this information to themself (aside from a few heroes they are close with) as they want to give Gunter the time he needs to properly grieve his wife, and they don’t want to step on his toes in the process.
When the Order of Heroes enters the dream in book four however, those feelings soon change. Leigh dreams of him, but they dream of him in his old life, with his family in Nohr, when he was once happy. That kinda cements the feelings for Leigh that they don’t wanna intrude on those fragile memories of his, and so they swear never to tell him of their crush.
As the dream progresses though, Leigh starts to feel very ill in that the more they assure themself that these are just fleeting feelings, the more they start coughing of flowers and leaves and vines. Little do they know this is all Freyja’s plan, where if Leigh ultimately chooses to bury their emotions for him, the dream and flowers will consume them. And that’s when they realize they really love him. If Leigh decides to give up their love, never mustering the courage to speak from their heart, the flowers (bleeding hearts) will consume them, and Leigh will become dökkálfar.
Should Leigh gather the courage to tell him, they wake up from the dream. Gunter is there, standing guard before the glass doors to the balcony of their room. It brings tears to Leigh’s eyes. After they’re no longer drowsy, the pair go for a walk in the castle’s gardens together. They talk: of what just happened with the enemy they faced, and what they dreamt about. Gunter tells Leigh he dreamt of his old life, and how it healed him to see his family again.
Amongst the flowers, Leigh says that they dreamed of him, of their unending love for him, and of how they long for nothing more than spending the rest of their days together.
I hope to finish the fic for this confession someday ^^
