hi!! feel free to ignore this but when did you start writing reader inserts? i want to start writing reader inserts for the DC fandom but weirdly enough, fanon ships seem more popular here. and i'm not a fanon shipper myself much. and i know i should write for myself first but i want my work to be appreciated too, as every writer does. so how do you motivate yourself to keep writing reader inserts? thank you very much in advance!! (and happy new year!! ^^)
2/2 Hi again! I am the anon who sent you the ask about writing reader inserts. I didn't see it on your bio that you were on a writing hiatus. So I wanted to say that I'm sorry if my question made you comfortable, I should have been more careful. Please don't hesirate to ignore it or delete it if you'd like. 👍🏻

No, it's alright! Sorry I didn't get to this earlier, I'm lazy and my brother was here so I wasn't really in my inbox all that much. Plus, I was thinking about your ask in general of how I wanted to respond to it!
I started writing reader inserts back in 2018? 2019? I think? It's been a while, honestly, but the first story/one-shot/imagine I ever wrote was a Batsis-Reader-Insert; I wrote that story for me because I hadn't, up until that point, seen a Batsis fic where the reader was at odds with the Batfamily and I wanted to read it. Most of my works are reader inserts because I've always enjoyed putting myself in the world of whatever I'm interacting with. Where's the fun in enjoying a world full of complex characters if you're not putting your own spin/character into?
Fanon ships are mostly popular here in the DC fandom. DickKori, DickBabs, BruTalia, BatCat, etc., are the main ships, but when you look at reader inserts, Batfamily x Reader, Dick x Reader, Jason x Reader, etc., are ones that rival them. I've seen BatCat fics that have just as many notes as a Bruce x Reader one.
Here's the thing about writing for yourself vs having your work valued: you have to set a boundary between the two. If you get to the point like I did where you're writing for everyone else and not yourself, you're going to become burnt out and tired of writing, even if the ideas you're getting from people are really good ideas and you want to write them. There's no motivation to do so. That's why I stopped taking requests in October/November. I got to the point where even though I enjoyed writing for my readers, I wasn't writing what I wanted to write. And I had a thorough conversation with multiple teachers on how to get out of burnout and how to set myself a boundary.
My advice is this and I've seen it to be true: Write what you want and readers will come to you. You may not get 1K notes immediately and even I don't unless a particular fic is just really popular and reblogged a lot, but don't feel discouraged by the amount you do get. You'll find your loyal readers who will stick with you when you're at 15 followers to when you're at 2K or 20K. Put your works out there and the rest will come to you. But make sure you set the boundary for yourself so that you're writing for you and not for others. And it's not a bad thing to do requests. But do so sparingly. Set specific times you'll take requests and close the window when you're not.
In all, if you're thinking it and writing it, someone wants to read it and they'll follow their nose to find it. But write what you want and don't let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn't be writing!
Hope this helps dear! Let me know if you have any other questions! And a Happy New Year to you as well! <3

Is there a good source of info that summarizes the series of conflicts Sol has had with that man leading all the way from late 1990's ? The story has come to the point where i'm not sure whether the conflict is there anymore, which, i believe, isn't the case.
If, by conflicts you mean fights between Asuka and Sol directly, then no, there really isn’t per se because they’ve only actually fought each other twice so far, during GGXX events and during GG2 Overture.

As for their other ‘indirect skirmishes’ (Sol dealing with Raven and I-No), those happen more frequently.
After 2016 when he escaped, Sol preserved what little humanity he had left by creating the Headguard he is almost never seen without called a Gear Cell Containment device.
After 2045 the Gear Project was restarted, Sol began his personal war against all Gear Research (not just “Than Man’s” but anything related too).

It wasn’t until 2074 when the Crusades began in earnest and Sol had an even harder time tracking Asuka down.
After saving Kliff’s life when he was a child, Sol eventually decided to join the Sacred Order around 2172, though that was more so that he could learn more about the Conclave.
Around 2173 I-No appeared for the first time and swore allegiance to Asuka shortly thereafter after she changed the Timeline.  After that, she and Raven became consistent thorns in Sol’s side, blocking any hints or clues to Asuka’s location.
After 2180, when Justice was killed, Sol sniffed out Raven during the events of Lightning the Argent, as Raven was running an errand to help Asuka learn about the girl Gear Solaria.  Raven took everything Sol threw at him, but Sol couldn’t catch him and he escaped.
2181 a year later, after the events with Dizzy, I-No plotted a scheme to catch Dizzy but Sol stopped her and tracked her down to one of Asuka’s hideouts.
By then, Asuka was too strong for Sol to handle (Sol didn’t know Asuka was studying the Backyard for many years at this point).  Asuka taunted him and escaped.
After that Sol couldn’t find him for another 5 whole years until the Baptisma 13 Incident with Valentine, but even then he couldn’t beat him or Raven.
Things came to a head in late October 2187 through November, and now Sol has plans to accept Asuka’s challenge and settle things.
