I am SO GLAD for the new Ascended Astarion kiss.

Not bc I like it (or ascended Astarion, the kiss itself is disgusting Imo) but I feel like there’s even less room for “Oh!! He actually cares for you!” But I’ve see a lot more “this makes me uncomfortable” or “this is icky”

Good. That’s the point.

That fear in Gale/Tav/Durges face is intentional and raw. Larian could have put a playful smirk. But they didn’t. It is fear, concern, and uncertainty. Ascended Astarion is lost not only to himself, but the person who loves him enough to get on their knees for a kiss. Spawn Astarion would never.

(Also the body language being so different that you can immediately tell it’s not Spawn Astarion, Neil is an artist, assuming he did the mocap for these scenes. It’s the little things.)
