I love flowers. Is this a thing we know about me? It is very true. I love flowers very much, cut flower bouquets, botanical gardens, constantly trying to get the front corner of my house going, etc. Anyway.

So, morning glories are one of my favorites in a favored genre. I love a good twining plant, and they are a lot easier to deal with than most roses that trellis. They grow insane amounts in a single season, and then generally reseed themselves. Useful. Practical. Love them.

Most morning glories have flowers that only last a day. They bloom huge and bright and then are gone by nightfall. Poetic, in its way, and you can use that metaphor for your blorbo free of charge, if you’re angst-inclined. So when this says ‘They are not yesterday’s flowers” this is true, assuming that Japanese Morning Glories work along the same line most of the North American ones do.

Now, i try not to let an episode get me excited this early on, because I don’t want to be disappointed, but god knows I am a sucker for the transient beauty of love and all that nothing gold can stay bullshit. This is a weird little show, and i don’t say that in a way of dislike, at all, just...I never know what I’m getting when i sit down to it. Intense body horror? A woman being possessed by a swamp? Ear snails? The monkey’s paw of dreams coming true? It could be anything. So I have no idea whatsoever what I even think they are going to do with this.

PLease please do not spoil anything for me in your excitement. I don’t want to know anything! I don’t even want to know if something is a cultural difference, or if you can’t wait for me to get to a part. If I wonder about something, please don’t say stuff like “Just wait til…” You know what is great for all that? The discord! Which apparently has its own mushishi channel now, which must mean y’all are excited for it!
