The dragon's breath hitched at the simple question. Somehow, Kaede outright asking for permission was so much worse, and it was impossible for Zhifeng to ignore the heat that seemed to explode across his face in a dizzying inferno. Everything that Kaede did seemed to have that effect on him, no matter how simple or seemingly unintentional (because Zhifeng wouldn't put it past the man to have asked just to see what kind of reaction he could elicit from the squirming dragon).

It took every bit of willpower not to cover his undoubtedly red face in embarrassment, and it took whatever little bit was left after that not to let a hiss slide from his lips as his heart thudded heavily in his chest. "Y-you don't have to ask," Zhifeng finally muttered, unable to meet Kaede's gaze regardless. ...Dammit, he felt like he was going to melt away under that infuriating stare.

"You...can do whatever you want." And this time, his hands did raise to cover his face, it was growing so difficult to focus and it was all that man's fault! "Just, agh! Don't ask questions like that!" It was so much more embarrassing to have to actually say yes!
