Working on the next updates for my original story Hammer of the Stars:

The overall plotline is essentially an analogue of the murder of Tsar Paul I of Russia by a conspiracy organized by his son, with some details altered to reflect that Syian III, the architect of the overthrow, is based more on a blend of Nicholas the Bloody and Mikhail Gorbachev than Alexander I. That is the eagle-eye view of the story.

At the more immediate level it also sets in motion the pattern whereby noblewoman Xaderavcal H'vat H'vorxixnon begins her path to become Xaderavcal the Unifier, a change that uproots the old traditions of the Bizjarran Empire which up to this point has had almost 10,000 years of the House of Underlan after about 30,000 years of the House of Gor (and in the previous dynasty Life Extension expanded lifespans to a minimum of 1,000, maximum of 4,000+ for a statistical outlier so to them this is technically still a very long time but not quite as long as it'd be for people with merely human lifespans).

Syian III's Regicide of his father Odylin III is one of the key elements of my space opera's backstory and writing it out lets me give a trial run of writing Underlanken as an era in different points of that longue duree past.
