Do you think shizaya will ever be canon? It’s 2022 and tokyo is legalizing same sex partnerships this year so why not take the plunge

Not in the slightest! Sadly Narita has made it very clear what his feelings on the pairing is and he even made an NSFW April Fools comic to mock the pairing and its shippers, or at least that's how it came across to me (which thankfully the fandom took with grace and just joke that he technically made a canon Shizaya fic).

I also wouldn't trust Narita to handle an LGBT relationship. Look how he treats Mairu in canon after all. He doesn't exactly write steller romance to begin with too.

The fact that he wrote Izaya and Shizuo to be unintentionally perfect for one another is very amusing to me. Their relationship is hands down the most impactful thing to come from DRRR to the point that the shippers are still around today and talking about it. None of his other pairings, his intentional pairings, have this effect and they never will.
