Echoes of cheeky laughter could be heard from the top of the Grand Narukami Shrine as the sun was setting and five tiny kitsune children were causing chaos that even the shrine maidens and Lady Yae herself were having trouble keeping them together. 

“No, don't put that in your mouth little one and you, gray-haired kid, stop biting everything.” 

Urgh why are kids so irritating, Miko thought to herself, mildly annoyed at the tiny kitsunes running around the shrine. Honestly, if they weren't with the creator I would've long thrown them off the shrine just for how much they’ve damaged. if there were one thing Miko hated more than Ei’s stupid idea of eternity it would definitely be children. Especially children who couldn't control themselves as soon as their guardian was gone. 

In a final attempt to gather everyone for the night Miko yelled rather loudly to get the kids' attention, “Who would like some Fried Tofu~”  Five pairs of tiny eyes, of all different colors, turned towards Miko. Their big bright eyes were shining “We want Some!” the kids said in unison running toward Miko with happiness in their eyes. 

While everyone was eating the tofu one of the younger kitsunes- a girl with cinnamon-colored hair and black-tipped ears- looked up at Miko with big bright green eyes and asked her “Auntie Miko, when are we gonna see momma?” 

 It might not have looked like it but inside Miko felt like her heart couldn't take how innocent the look the child in front of her was giving. 

“Well little one, Momma is busy doing work so she won't be here for a while. But how would you and your siblings like it if Auntie Miko read a bedtime story, Hmm?” “But I don't want to go to sleep,” the child replied to Miko with a pout,“ I promise I'm not sleepy!” A chuckle escaped Miko when the girl in front of her yawned shortly after saying that. “Yes, yes well sleepy or not it's bedtime now come on little ones it's time to get tucked into bed.”  

As the sun kept setting and the stars came out, the Narukami Shrine was quiet once more with five little kitsunes all tucked into bed. Dear me even if these kits are trouble makers I must admit they do look rather cute asleep, Miko pondered to herself. Well now I suppose I just have to wait until Their Grace get here
