"They think we're what?!" Hughie's voice reached a severely shrill pitch, but he was freaking out too hard to care. The idea of him doing anything even remotely romantic or sexual with Homelander was abhorrent, but it seemed that hatred could easily be misinterpreted for something far more cordial.

One of the photographers from the Seven movie premier had caught photos of his and Homelander's antagonistic interaction, mistaking it for something romantic; and going by Homelander's reaction, this wasn't the bad news that it was to Hughie.
