#How can we build bridges and talk about feminism with younger people and men using this album as a story we’ve both heard?
Text
I keep thinking about one of the many articles written about eras tour (maybe the wsj or nyt?) that talked about how Taylor is a symbol or patron saint of womanhood and just the way that some people are reacting to the break up and Taylor daring to speak about her experiences really drives the point home- when people say that she shouldn’t speak about her experiences, they are saying that women shouldn’t speak about their experiences. That even suggesting that a man have done something wrong is just as bad if not worse than whatever he is being “accused” of. That preventing a man’s embarrassment is more important than a woman being honest. That women who do this are bitchy liars with no morals, and that they should shut up. And allll if those messages are what makes Taylor releasing this album anyways brave, radical, and powerful. Regardless of whatever she actually says in there!
