The Two Avatars au

for as long as their families could recount they were either earth or nonbenders. So when entity had bent fire, of course their father was outraged. As was a wealthy and high up man, he held a lot of power and, in a fit of rage, banished his wife and children from the community. Understanding what the fire had to have meant, their mother handed the entity to the officials to train, in hopes of getting him trained and a roof overhead. Only for them to take the entity.

“But what of us?” She asked

“Do either of you bend?”

“Well I can but-“

“Then you may”

“But what of Dwight?”

“We have a place we shall send him”

And at fourteen, Dwight is sent on a boat, alone for the first time.

The voyage was Supposed to be a quiet one, no one could have predicted the storm.The ocean had viciously beaten upon the ship as everyone scrambled to the life preservers.

No one even noticed when Dwight slipped and fell into the sea.

Nor did they notice the blue glow that illuminated from the tides.

Eight years pass and as the days grew on, entity’s sanity slowly dwindled.

The death of his twin broke him, if he hadn’t Bended in the first place then none of this would’ve happened; He never got to grieve.

“Never settle for nothing but perfection.”

‘Perfection.

Tch.

You can never be perfect in bending.

It’s sloppy.

Ever changing

You can never perfect something like it.

Something so… impure.’

Then, one day, he snapped.

“What are you doing!?” They exclaimed

“Why are you not helping!?”

“Why,I am helping, and I’m not settling for anything but perfection.”

He replied as the town slowly burned to they grown.

“Yes”, he whispered

“For too long I have made due with less, but now it’s time for change”

As his masters slowly bled out there was one thing he could think

“The time of bending is drawing to a close.”

Eight years after Dwight miraculously awoke on a beach with little more than his first name. He didn’t have much going for him as a humble earthbender who barely knew how to lift a stone. He had no memory of his past and was working a dead end job at a small tea shop.

He didn’t have anything going for him until he accidentally froze a cup of tea.

earth kingdom royalty (second prince)

Will not admit he’s royalty

found the others while he was sneaking outside the palace

Was never allowed to bend growing up

Ran away to join Dwight’s quest to ”understand himself”

really just wants to learn earthbending and thinks Dwight is too cute and doesn’t want him to get killed because he is so pure at heart

Is the mom of the group

She’s a sweetheart

Wanted to visit her cousin in the northern tribe

Ended up hitching a ride with the others and never really left

Quentin:

Laurie’s cousin

Waterbending god

Will personally jump off a bridge for anyone he cares about

Left the temples cause she didn’t like their style

Can beat anyone in a race

“Air bending is not cheating”

Is best friends with nea

Comes from a traveling nomad airbending family

Has zero fears of heights

Best friends with meg

Is good with throwing knives

Is a royal pain

Means well

Very good with hand to hand and fire bending

Very overprotective

Feng:

is David’s bodyguard

Accidentally got dragged along

The fire nation thinks she kidnapped the prince

She, in fact, did not

Could beat up anyone

Does not look like it

She uses it as an advantage

Claudette:

A traveling doctor of sorts

Worries about everyone

If Laurie is the Mom of the group, then Claudette is the mom to the second power

Ace:

gambler who hits up a lot of cities

Is surprisingly good with swords in battle

“You can’t always rely on Lady Luck to get you out of a jam”

Outside of battle, not so much

Everyone is worried that he might hurt himself

Tapp:

“everyone calls me tap”

mainly because he was in the earth kingdom army before joining the group; now they do it because there’s two Davids

was one of the few officials who were like: this dude is tiny and scared shitless, there’ s no way this is the same guy who slaughtered so many villages

turns out he was right

because the night they caught the group mayhem erupted in the neighboring village. he barely got back and freed them before the fire engulfed the entire forest.

technically, he’s a deserter of the army and is now a enemy to the earth kingdom and a criminal but he’s trying his best to ignore it.

Kate:

Airbender

Light and bubbly

Just wants to bring peace and happiness to world

Often seen playing music to locals when they stop to rest

Visits the air temples whenever possible

Entity:

part of the set of the two avatars

Real name is benedict

No one is to call him that unless they wish death

And god help anyone who tries to call him benny

Benny was dwight’s nickname for him

Was driven crazy by the lost of his twin

Blames himself

Blames bending in general

Goes on a rampage through the nations destroying anything in his path

Dwight:

The surprise second avatar

Didn’t remember his last name when he came to on the beach; came up with one when he got tired of trying to explain his predicament

Is confused and scared

In denial for the good chunk of the beginning of the journey

“W-what? Me? the Avatar?? Wow that’s rich David. L-look just because I can bend two elements doesn’t mean I’m the avatar.”

Is being hunted down by a lot of angry armies

“I DON’T KNOW WHY SO MANY PEOPLE HATE ME SUDDENLY! I’VE NEVER EVEN BEEN OUTSIDE THE FIRE KINGDOM!!”

Thankfully because the entity had been hidden from the world’s view ever since he began his training; very few outside of the armies fear him

But that also means that all the armies of the kingdoms have direct orders to kill anyone who fits his description

“he probably doesn’t even look like me!”

they are identical

Slowly starts to regain memories as they travel the land

May the gods help this poor boy
