In the spring of 1803, the village of Harashagahama discovered an odd object in the tide. It was a bowl shaped object made of wood,metal and glass. No one knew who built it or where it came from. The vessel was called Utsuro Bune. Locals apparently looked through the windows, and saw writing in an unknown language, and young woman holding a box was found inside the craft. She returned to her craft and drifted away. The event is now part of Japanese folklore, and many debate if the woman was a European castaway, or a alien from another planet. The vessel is still considered to be unidentified.
