S U M M A R Y

When the crew of the Unreliable learns that a mysterious virus has overtaken the neutral space station GroundBreaker and turned its inhabitants into frightening feral facsimiles of their former selves, Captain Alyx Taylor makes the painful decision to abandon it to its fate until the Board sends aid. But Parvati finds out that Junlei is still aboard and will stop at nothing to rescue not just her love but also every survivor on the GroundBreaker. She's done being the peacekeeper of the good ol' Unreliable - the meek may inherit the earth but she'll be damned if she loses the woman who holds heaven in her smile.

ALYX TAYLOR --|-- the nonbinary captain of the Unreliable, Alyx was thrust into a world she was not prepared for when mad-scientist-slash-fugitive Phineas Welles woke her from cryosleep and dumped her on Terra 2 with no weapons, armor, bits, or warning. Since then, she's made quite a name for herself in Board-controlled space (well, technically she made a name for Alex Hawthorne, but whatever) and will take almost any job that comes her way. She is logical and straightforward, but do not mistake her calm exterior for a lack of passion - just wait until you've seen her debate the quality differences of boarstwurst and saltuna.

PARVATI HOLCOMB --|-- asexual lesbian disaster. Empathetic to a fault, her desire to help everyone she can is often overshadowed by her lack of confidence and fear of confrontation. She's a sweet little thing with a smile for everyone, but very few people get to see the true eye-twinkling beam when she us truly, unashamedly happy. Even though she's a clumsy mess, she's a hell of an engineer too - there's a reason a craphole like Edgewater is still functioning with equipment older than dinosaurs.

MAXIMILLIAN DESOTO --|-- a former vicar of the Order of Scientific Inquiry, Max is a bitter, jaded, and tired man who has perfected the art of pretending to give a fuck. He may seem unsympathetic when he offers advice, but he really does have your best interests at heart. Just don't get him angry. You won't like him when he's angry...because he'll rip you limb from limb with words like daggers before punching you in the face really hard.

NYOKA --|-- is not an alcoholic, no matter what Vicar Max tries to tell you. She's a booze enthusiast and definitely not trying to drown the memories of all her dead friends and family. Her hobbies include drinking, hunting, drinking, shooting things, drinking, and sassing everything in earshot.

SAM --|-- will not be in this story because I love him too much.
