Real Men don’t want lifted trucks and guns,
Real Men want
To have their tiny insignificant existence acknowledged by an ancient sea goddess of otherworldly power and indescribable beauty.

I went to see Ponyo at the theater yesterday as part of Ghibli Fest! I fell in love with this movie all over again and can confidently say that it is a beautiful film just as I remember! And for sure that drawing the sea family definitely counts for Mermay!
For the last drawing, the sentence that kept running through my mind was, “When you love the ocean so much, it might end up loving you back.”

Shout out to Ponyos dad for taking approximately two tries before deciding that Ponyo has indeed changed her name.
He never even reconsidered.
"Brunhilde, you cannot eat ham!"
"MY NAME IS PONYO!"
"PONYO?!"
*A few scenes later*
"OH NO, MY PONYO HAS DECIDED TO CHANGE INTO A HUMAN! GRANMAMARE, WHAT SHOULD I DO?"
A true icon he is.
