After kraken era, and reunion, Izzy stops sleeping. Stede notices, concerned as he observes it affecting his health, becomes determined to make the cranky man to nap. Schemes at first alone, fails, with aid of the crew, fails, eventually after mounting escapades there is a confrontation.

Endgame Steddyhands — Izzy leaves, dramatic fake breakup to bring him back

Stede/Ed have reunited and are in a strong, stable relationship.

Izzy thinks Edward no longer needs him, no longer wants him, and Izzy doesn't feel like he has a place with the crew either. So when another captain offers him a position on their ship, Izzy accepts. Izzy only sends a note or message with a crewmate, "Take care of him Bonnet, if you leave him again or hurt him I'll find you and rip your throat out".

Ed's devastated by Izzy leaving. Stede too, depending on how you want to write the Izzy/Stede dynamic.

No matter what they do they can't seem to get a message to Izzy on the other ship.

So after a conversation about relationships, bearing Izzy's last message in mind Ed and Stede concoct a plan for an elaborate, over the top, fake breakup, which they stage to lure Izzy back. Like the drama teacher theater directors they are. Possibly with help from the whole crew.

Bonus for Izzy going after Stede with a knife for "breaking" Edwards heart, only to be met by "unhand me or bleed" Stede.

Just Izzy slowly coming to the realization that now he has two utterly unhinged madmen (affectionate) as boyfriends, he's in love with two detached from reality people, in love with them, trying to manage their moods and keep them alive. Oh god he's got two of them now, and Bonnet is somehow worse.

He used to wish Edward would be willing to kill people. Now that he's seeing what that's like with Stede he has... regrets.

No major injury/character deaths, no breakups, just Izzy struggling with being the functional reasoning one of the triad of emotionally broken idiots.

(All with love, but all three have serious issues and too often Stede gets written as the reasonable one. I love soft Stede. I also love absolutely bonkers Stede and frustrating Izzy.)

Sometime post reunion, established Stede/Ed, Izzy is romantically or sexually with someone other than Ed.

Maybe Izzy/Ivan/Fang happened while Stede was gone and Izzy was emotionally vulnerable. Maybe Izzy/Lucius or Izzy/Roach. Maybe Jack turns up again, alive, and Stede throws a fit because he's banned from the ship, and Izzy offers to go "distract" him because Jack's a big ol Izzy simp. But Izzy doesn't react as expected, accepting anything from Edward and desperate for his attention. Instead, Izzy is mad as hell about it. Did Ed think about thier relationship or care to ask Izzy's opinion when he was pining over Stede? Has Ed looked twice at him in fucking years? What, so Edward's allowed to move on from the horrible unhealthy thing they became as Blackbeard but Izzy isnt allowed to try and find happiness of his own? Fuck off Ed.

Ed/Izzy, Izzy + Everyone — No one listens to Izzy so he simply stops talking, selective mutism

Post-Kraken where everyone's seems to have made up but there's still lingering tension among the crew.

Despite doing his best to keep the ship running, everyone (even the Captains) is giving him the cold shoulder. Add that to Ed's hair-trigger temper to the slightest mistake Izzy does (proof that the Kraken hasn't really gone away), Izzy's anxiety skyrockets.

In an environment where speaking is met with either silence, mockery or punishment, Izzy just stops talking altogether.

It takes a while before everyone catches on and become worried. The final straw to everyone (especially the captains) realizing how it's them who've fucked up this time is when Izzy gets cornered in a raid and he's unable to call out for help out of anxiety.

+ Izzy's mutism does get treated but whether the recovery is slow or not is up to the author! + Ed/Izzy or Stede/Ed/Izzy endgame! + Bonus points if Izzy's anxiety (outside of mutism) is acknowledged.
