Canadian history... Seen here is ‘Burning of Port Royal (N.S.) 1613.’ Too see this and more click through or come and visit our website! (B2-H-73a2) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 vs. 🇫🇷 to build 🇨🇦!! New Blog: Port Royal on the Annapolis Basin in Nova Scotia was the very first French settlement in North America. It served as the capitol of Acadia (the North-Eastern-most colony of New France) from 1605 until the English burned it down in 1613. The French then moved their settlement nearby (8km or 5mi), retaining the name of Port Royal until the English conquest in 1710 at the Siege of Port Royal (after six attacks by the British), at which point it was renamed in honour of Queen Anne, and still retains the name of Annapolis Royal. The town was the Capitol of Acadia until the founding of the province of Nova Scotia and it wasn't until 1749 when the city of Halifax was founded that the capitol was moved to Halifax. The French made six attempts to regain their territory with no luck. To this date, this city holds the record for the most sieges in North American History with a total of 13. The last being a raid on the town in the American Revolution. The history behind this town is quite remarkable and is now a National Landmark. The original Port Royal also houses the Port Royal National Historic Site where a replica of the original dwellings of the French can be seen. A wonderful piece of Canadian History! https://victoriacooperantiqueprints.com/blogs/news/when-the-english-beat-out-the-french-in-nova-scotia #portroyal #annapolisroyal #annapolisbasin #portroyalnationalhistoricsite #novascotia #visitnovascotia #historicsite #nationalhistoricsite #nationalhistoricsiteofcanada #canadianhistory #francevsengland #englandvsfrance #burningofportroyal #frenchsettlement #englishsettlement #englishconquest #antique #oldprints #battle #siege #burning #history #antiqueprints #walldecor #historicalart #engraving #acadia #design #learn #explore (at Port-Royal National Historic Site) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1jqLKzHmNn/?igshid=wdwvidzenbvt

and then, as you said the ehh graphics and no nat dex. Graphics are whatever to me, but if you say they are gonna be so much better and they aren't, uhhhh you got some splainin to do. And the Dex. I would gladly exchange all gigas and z moves for a full nat dex. I dunno man, I think they need to give Pokémon a year or so off and come back fresh. Won't happen, but it's been a slog. Pt. 3
Tbh yeah...I feel like the first 5 (and perhaps 6 depending on how natural you think Megas are) added things that felt natural for the Pokemon world. You learned about eggs (ie. Reproduction), more battling styles (which makes sense in a world where it’s a manor sport), mythos (or at least one branch since Arceus feels like a Sinnoh thing), etc. and Megas expounded upon the ideas that Bonds make Pokemon and Humans stronger (the Pokemon gains a powerful form that can potentially harm them but it’s their bond w/ a human that tames it and allows them to act sanely).
And Z-moves were basically the bonds thing but kinda so-so imo. Still expanding on the ideas but not as much “umph.”
And so far Gigamax is “make the Pokemon bigger w/ some changes” and yeah, they can say it’s b/c of bonds but also, it’s not new ground that they can’t cover w/ megas. It doesn’t really add anything outside of merch (and I do think Gigamax is for big ol’ plushies). They could have even said that Galar is the region that Kalos went to war with (ie. EnglandVsFrance) to explain why they have exclusive mega stones (ie. Galarians distrust/hate Kalosians and vise versa or smtg; could even make it an OldVSNew thing where its more of the old guard that holds the rivalry while the younger generation wants to move on).
But tbh, Pokemon, out of Nintendo’s main franchises, is the one that depends the most on outside accessory sales (plushies, clothes, decorations, etc.). Loz, Mario, Metroid, etc? They don’t have the backing of an entire merch line. If they fail too often, aren’t “marketable” enough, or have lackluster sales, it’s to the bench w/ them (as Star Fox, early Kid Icarus, Metroid, etc. can all attest to).
They have to innovate well or die.
Idk, Pokemon basically can run itself solely on brand name (and anime). The other titles can as well to some extent (like Zelda) b/c Nintendo but nowhere near to where Pokemon can. Enough lackluster games, and they’ll get canned.
And the sucky part imo is that there are other monster collecting games that are much better in many aspects than Pokemon but w/ nowhere the backing or namebrand.
Digimon (story, Callbacks like Mameo that aren’t relegated to one post-game area and are incoporated into story, weirdly addicting gameplay like in OG World), SMT and its related Persona games (the granddaddy of monster collecting; fantastic gameplay, fun moral conundrums w/ actual meaning the majority of the time that’s not just “pick the best ending,” Lucifer, etc.), Spectrobes (dead franchise but it was really fun imo but I was also ten so idk), etc.
There’s also the PersonaVsMainline debate but let’s not get into that can of worms.

Traveling alone- England Vs France
I’ve been to France somewhere around fifteen times now staying with various families and in different types of hotels all around the country. People often ask would I prefer to live in France or England. I chose to buy my flat in England so I’m pretty much stuck there now. But there are lots of things that I prefer about France too.
Things I like better in France
The food!
Home cooked food is my favourite in England, a Sunday roast with roast potatoes and yorkshires, but the food in France at restaurants is always good. I didn’t have one bad meal and I ate out twice a day. And I’m not really a foodie. I’m quite fussy and a bit of a germaphobe. But they just kept bringing me food! Here’s some bread, here’s a salad, here’s melon balls- I only ordered some chicken! The food is rich but good. Small but with all the extras they keep bringing it is enough.
The dog culture
Everyone has a little furry friend. And 9% of all dog owners have a poodle. And dogs seem to be welcome everywhere, restaurants, shops… You can jut strike up a conversation with someone because of their dog. Every restaurant has a “dog bar” (bowl of water) and the waiters carry treats in their aprons. All the dogs seemed really well trained, no barking or fighting or jumping up at the table.
The wine
French wine is good. I mean I’m not a massive wine brain box but I have enough knowledge so far to decide what I like. And it’s so cheap! Even the most expensive on the menu is cheaper than at home. I visited vineyards and learnt about the types of grape and of course sampled my fair share.
The dessert!
Okay so I know I can’t have everything food and drink related but the crepes and Creme caramel and Creme brûlée, and little petit fours of things I have no idea what they are but they’re good!
The clothes shops
I know we have some good boutiques in England but there are so many in France, all the clothes and jewellery is beautiful and the fabrics and stitching are really well made for the price. You can get dresses tailored to you for a fraction of the cost compared to home. And the shoes!!! I’m not even a girly girl but the shoes are lovely!
The houses
Parisians would probably disagree but the houses are huge! Spotlessly clean and full of beautiful furniture and artwork. High ceilings and wide staircases, everything is very natural. I have stayed in few French homes and they are just much more alive than English homes, everything seems to have a story. The patterned flooring, the ivy up the garden walls, the large wooden wardrobes, pretty ornate rugs, the little metal teapots and silver spoons. Dust doesn’t seem to be a thing in French houses. That or they are very good at hiding it.
What I like better about England
The humour
I think British humour is in a world of its own. I know I am British so I might say that but I have travelled a lot and spent a lot of time in France and our slap-stick, farce, comedy and sarcasm just seems much more flowing.
The customer service
Eating out in France is slow. You’re supposed allow a full evening for the dining experience. It might be because at home we are so busy rushing around but every place I ate this weekend took about twenty minutes to get service. Maybe I just expect too much, or maybe my French isn’t good enough, but there was very little waiter to customer conversation. Everyone was polite, but I just felt I was missing some contact.
Our sporting culture
There was a massive league rugby game on this weekend. It just wasn’t the same feel as it would have been at home. The bars did make a special effort to promote the rugby but it just wasn’t the same jolly environment as I was used to. Maybe football would have been different or a different part of France would have been more lively.
The Highway Code
I won’t start with the who drives on the correct side of the road debacle but driving in France confuses the hell out of me. I’ve driven in lots of countries but I just don’t understand the lack of signs, parking restrictions, turning across pedestrian crossings when the light is red, not stopping at crossings at all… I might be being massively ignorant but I’m just so confused!
Sunday opening hours
With the exception of Paris and other main tourist areas most shops are closed on a Sunday. There is also often no fresh bread in the smaller supermarkets and busses are on an extremely restricted timetable. I appreciate it’s a day of rest but I am a very busy person and don’t have time to get things done in the week. Just my opinion.
The chips!
Lots of people might say- the tea- but I’ve had some very lovely fresh tea in France so going with chips. Nowhere has chips quite like the U.K. I had some really good fish and chips in Iceland- the fish was amazing but the chips were still not quite right.
So there we go, I’m sure that there’s plenty to pick holes in but there’s my very basic, and mostly food and beverage related, preferences. I’m sad to leave France now but I know I will be back soon.
