Dear Evan Hansen?? More like Dear Evan Dancen: an Au in which Evan is a ballerina boy™️

evan and connor go to the same school, a school for visual and performing arts.

evan is a dance student (obviously) and connor is there for both music (he’s a piano god) and art (drawing and painting specifically)

dancing takes evan to another world, it helps him cope with his anxiety and express all of his emotions. connor plays piano because even when he’s almost too depressed to get out of bed, he remembers he has something incredible, he has a gift and it keeps him going.

evan and connor don’t know each other because they’re in different areas of the arts.

they’re both huge nerds about their arts and are always practicing: they go in early and use empty rooms to dance (evan) and play piano (connor), they practice through their lunch period, and they’re always there after school.

connor loves la la land and i will fight anyone who tries to tell me otherwise

one day connor is leaving when he hears Mia and Sebastian’s Theme (his fav song from la la land, he plays it all the time on piano) coming from one of the dance rooms.

he peeks in the room to see ballerina evan™️ doing a beautiful solo (duh) to the song he was hearing

connor watches evan, taking in every move, leaving him breathless. when evan’s done connor says something like “you’re incredible”

evan is stARTLED AS HECK

sweet ballerina boi is a blushy mess because the cute piano boy he’s seen around was watching him dance

he’s tripping over all of his words because it’s an au but he’s still evan

he manages to croak out a small “thanks” as he sits down to change out of his pointe shoes

connor walks in and sits next to him and introduces himself

evan is confused because no one ever talks to him so hes ????

he repeats connor’s name back to him quietly and then say “evan” through a jumble of stuttering

ev gets his pointe shoes off, con sees his toes and is like “wHaT tHe FuCk”

ev half sings half mumbles something like “pretty hurts”

con asks him about the song “Mia and Sebastian’s theme... you like la la land?”

ev can only nod excitedly because he’s not really sure what the fuck is happening

con gets jAZZED AS HECK and starts rambling on about his love for the movie and the music and says how thats his favorite song to play

ev looks at him as he puts away his pointe shoes “piano right??”

con is surprised but just tries to hold back his smile as he replies with a hum

ev sees the AP environmental science (or APES) book in con’s hand and asks him if hes ready for the exam.

con lets out a nervous “not really” and ev asks him when he has it, what he needs to work on, etc.

con is confused until ev quickly says “i can help you study if you want. APES is my favorite class next to dance”

con grins and says “that would be great, give me your phone” ev, although slightly hesitant, hands it over.

con types something and hands ev the phone back. when he looks down he sees a new contact labeled “connor 🎹” and he smiles.

con has already gotten up and when ev zips his bag shut and is about to get up he’s surprised to see con’s hand outstretched to him (you can reach reach out ur haand)

con helps him up like a gentleman and ev cracks a joke saying something like “thank you my good sir” and they both laugh and walk out.

before they get into their cars and leave ev says to con “i’m free tomorrow.. y’know if you wanna study then butlikeitsfineifyoudontitotallyunderstand” con chuckles a little and says “tomorrow is great.” ev is a blushy lil mess as he says “cool, um wanna study at my place? my mom is out of town so the house is quiet and no one will bother us.” con thinks ev is fuckin adorable rn and smiles as he responds “it’s a date.” before he gets in his car and leaves ev standing there redder than a fuckin tomato BONUS INFO

obvs alana jared and zoe are there too. alana is a musical theatre baby, jared does tech theatre bc hes a nerd (and im a techie let me have my way), and zoe is an aMAZING violinist.

con and zoe have a rlly good relationship !! :))

con is in a good state mentally, obviously he still gets rlly depressed and has bad days bc depression isn’t something that just goes away like magic, but he is doing good

ev is doing good too!!!

ev has like 15 succulents and he names them all bc whatta nerd

con LOVES ev’s legs (like not in a sexual way he’s just so impressed w the muscle and flexibility)

con 👏🏽 is 👏🏽 pan 👏🏽

jared 👏🏽 is 👏🏽 ace 👏🏽

alana 👏🏽 is 👏🏽 lesbian 👏🏽

ev 👏🏽 is 👏🏽 gay 👏🏽

zoe 👏🏽 is 👏🏽 bi 👏🏽

jared ev and alana have been friends since grade school. sadly they barely see each other at school but they always go to each other’s performances and go out to dinner after and cute shit like that

no one is in the closet!!! whatta concept!!!

no discrimination or bigotry from family and peers!!! another mind blowing concept!!!

ev has a dog he probs named after a famous dancer or something

con and zoe have a cat named mia because they both adore la la land

con is actually extroverted as heck!! a gr8 friendo!! knows everyone’s names!! could probs make conversation w a wall! i hope y’all enjoyed this. i might write a fic on it idk ?? if someone ur gonna write a fic or make art bc of this post pls link me when you post bc i took quite a bit of time thinking about this and i rlly care about it!!!
