Wayne White.
Brand new paintings by acclaimed artist Wayne White, currently on view with Joshua Liner Gallery.
The artist, art director, illustrator, and puppeteer, who designed sets and puppets for “Pee-wee's Playhouse,” imbues his text-based works with sardonic humor and distinct color combinations. For this ongoing series, which he began in the 2000s, White paints anachronistic text and phrases onto vintage offset lithographs, seamlessly integrating the letters into bucolic landscapes and seascapes. The seemingly random juxtaposition of text and vintage imagery is thought-provoking and almost always humorous.
