Something I've been working on, hopefully I'll finish it, but here's something.
Bloom/Valtor
Like a Car Crash
"Bloom finally gets her driver's license after many failed attempts. Valtor has to wonder if getting in a car with her was some sort of thinly veiled assassination attempt"
Bloom finally earns her driver's license. After many crashed cars. The parade of terrified driving inspectors. Crushed orange safety cones that somehow ended up melted stumps glued to the asphalt the following day. Through blood, sweat and tears - Bloom does the impossible and was bestowed her license.
-by the skin of her teeth.
She literally barrages into their shared home and practically shoves her certified certificate right his face to rub it in that she did it because he had the audacity, in her opinion, to criticize her driving endeavors "Ha! Shows you right!"
Bloom was beaming, oh so bright, it was almost blinding. Excited and ecstatic to finally drive on her own and buy her first car. But, for now, until she has enough money saved up, she burrows her foster father's truck or so they call it.
Which was fine - until Bloom unrelentingly, insists that he rides with her.
The issue - Valtor's seen the way she drives that metal monstrosity, barely scraping by curves, unfortunately placed lampposts and fire hydrants. Going far too fast and making sudden sharp turns. Bloom drives like she's fighting for life and ancestors have mercy on anyone that cuts her off either by intent or mistake. Bloom was a force to be reckoned with by her own merits and now they gift her 6,000 pounds of momentum and steel to maneuver through the streets like a mad woman, swerving upon blazing asphalt like hell was on her heels, forgetting how impulsive and explosive she was, while Bloom herself was none the wiser.
Contrary to popular beliefs, he was not that insane nor was he ready to die by vehicular manslaughter by virtue of sitting in the passenger seat.
Or ever.
He's seen her tear the steering wheel right off the dashboard once in a fit of unbridled rage. And yes, he had to pay for it, as Bloom's meager paycheck wasn't going to cover the exuberant price. A price even he thought was ridiculous for that piece of junk and second hand aluminum her driving school forced her to train in.
But - anyhow - Bloom was adamant, wanting to desperately show off her new found skills to him. And while he finds her enthusiasm amusing, he wasn't about to get into that thing with her. So he manages to evade her with poorly thought out excuses until he's run clean out. Until she begins to get suspicious. And he's suddenly cornered with no place to escape.
Teleporting away would only make him look guilty. Or guiltier as far as Bloom's perspective goes.
Hence the inciting incident -

The Importance of Asbestos Testing Services
Asbestos testing and sampling should be carried out whenever building materials appear to be deteriorating or prior to any construction or remodeling projects which could disturb them, as exposure to asbestos fibers poses serious health risks, including mesothelioma and asbestosis.
Asbestos-testing labs should be licensed and insured for accurate results, capable of testing crumbly, solid materials as well as dust samples with either polarized light microscopy or transmission electron microscopy techniques.
Certification
Asbestos is a fibrous and heat-resistant mineral commonly found in building materials. If improperly removed or handled, asbestos exposure may lead to lung diseases and other health concerns if not handled safely - thus making the decision to hire an accredited asbestos inspector essential.
Certified professionals complete training courses managed by third-party accreditors to obtain their credentials and obtain certifications to perform asbestos testing services in various settings.
An asbestos professional typically collects samples of suspicious materials during an inspection and sends them off for lab analysis, taking between several days and several weeks depending on the material type being tested for. Rush and emergency turnaround services are also available at additional costs.
New York City requires any construction, demolition or renovation project that disturbs ACMs to undergo an asbestos survey (ACP-5). Even simple projects like painting or demolishing walls may necessitate this inspection before receiving approval from the Department of Buildings.
Experience
Before undertaking any home renovation project, it is vitally important to hire a certified asbestos inspector. They can test for asbestos in areas like acoustic ceiling sprays, floor tiles, linoleums, insulation materials, drywall/joint compounds and roofing materials - among others.
AHERA accredited inspectors are specially trained to locate, identify and estimate quantities of asbestos-containing material (ACM). They provide thorough reports detailing their findings as well as create abatement plans to address any concerns discovered during inspections.
Asbestos testing should involve examining both solid and friable samples; typically laboratories will need at least one teaspoon of dust.
Naturally occurring asbestos found in rocks and soil poses no immediate health threat, provided it remains undisturbed. When disturbed during construction or demolition activities, asbestos fibers can be released into the air and inhaled by workers and residents in close proximity. A professional asbestos inspection firm should always be able to deliver accurate results, guaranteeing that an area inspected is safe before beginning work or demolition activities in it.
Licensing
Asbestos is a dangerous substance that poses serious health risks when disturbed. Not only can asbestos lead to lung cancer, but also mesothelioma and lung diseases like asbestosis. Therefore, testing for asbestos prior to renovation or demolition work must take place for both occupants and workers' safety.
Asbestos testing should be part of any construction or renovation activity which disturbs building materials such as floor tiles, drywall, pipes, insulation or fire-proofing materials. Furthermore, an asbestos test is strongly advised before purchasing an old home that could contain ACM.
Contractors, project monitors and professional service firms who perform activities that disturb friable asbestos must obtain a license before engaging in such activities. To do so, applicants must complete either an initial or renewal individual licensing package along with State Form 48741. Furthermore, documentation from an EPA/PA approved training course must also be provided before an onsite inspection can take place and an approval issued.
Insurance
Asbestos can be found in older homes built before the mid-1980s. Due to its durability and resistance to fire, asbestos was often utilized for vinyl floor tiles, roofing shingles, wall insulation materials and insulation materials. When these items become damaged they release microscopic asbestos fibers into the air which may eventually lead to serious health conditions such as mesothelioma or lung cancer.
Homeowners insurance typically does not cover the costs associated with asbestos inspection, testing and removal; however, this expense could be covered as part of a claim for property damage due to sudden events like storm-related roof or foundation damage, fire or theft.
When selecting an asbestos testing service, be sure that they possess both standard liability and workers' compensation insurance policies as well as adequate professional liability protection to guard against damages caused by errors of judgment or professional opinions.

The site plan should also show utility layouts such as water, sewer, electricity, and gas lines, which are critical for assessing the project's feasibility and impact on existing infrastructure.
Floor Plans
Floor plans are the blueprint of the project. They need to be detailed and clearly labeled, showing all dimensions, the purpose of each room, and the placement of windows and doors. These plans should reflect the current building codes and accessibility standards, including details such as the width of hallways and doorways, especially in commercial buildings where public accessibility may be a requirement.
Elevation Drawings
Elevation drawings provide a vertical depiction of the house or building from various angles—front, rear, and sides. These are important for understanding the aesthetic of the building and its impact on the neighborhood's character. Elevations must detail exterior finishes like cladding, windows, roofing, and decorative elements, which help the planning department assess whether the project's design is in harmony with local standards and zoning codes.
Cross-Section Drawings
Cross-section drawings cut through a structure to show internal components and are crucial for visualizing the building in three dimensions. These drawings must include wall construction details, insulation, flooring layers, roofing details, and ceiling heights. Cross-sections can also highlight unique architectural features and complex structural elements, ensuring that these are well planned and within code.
Structural and Engineering Details
For projects that involve substantial modifications or new constructions, detailed structural drawings and engineering calculations are necessary. These should outline the structural integrity of the building, including foundation plans, framing plans, and details about load-bearing walls. This part of the drawing set must be prepared and often certified by a licensed engineer, ensuring that the structure will be safe and stable.
Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Plans
MEP plans are essential, especially for larger or more complex buildings. These drawings show the layout of mechanical systems such as HVAC, electrical wiring including lighting fixtures, switch locations, and power layout, and plumbing schematics indicating water supply and waste lines. These detailed plans help inspectors ensure that all systems are designed according to current codes and are safe for future occupants.
Fire Safety and Evacuation Plans
Depending on the type and size of the building, fire safety and evacuation plans may also be required. These plans should show the placement of fire alarms, extinguishers, smoke detectors, and fire exits. They play a crucial role in ensuring that the building's design considers the safety and quick evacuation of its occupants in case of an emergency.

[ad_1] Navigating the Home Inspection Process: 5 Tips for Homebuyers Buying a home is an exciting and nerve-wracking process. One crucial step in the homebuying journey is the home inspection. A home inspection is a thorough examination of a property's condition, typically conducted by a professional inspector. This process can uncover potential issues that may not be visible to the untrained eye, allowing buyers to make informed decisions about the property they are considering purchasing. Here are five tips to help homebuyers navigate the home inspection process: 1. Hire a reputable home inspector When choosing a home inspector, it is essential to do your due diligence. Look for a reputable inspector with experience and a good track record. Ask for recommendations from friends, family, or your real estate agent. Make sure the inspector is licensed and certified, and inquire about their qualifications and expertise in inspecting homes similar to the one you are considering purchasing. 2. Attend the inspection While not required, it is highly recommended that buyers attend the home inspection. This allows you to ask questions, get a firsthand look at any issues identified, and better understand the inspector's findings. You can also gain valuable insights into how the home's systems operate and learn about any potential maintenance needs in the future. 3. Review the inspection report carefully Following the inspection, the inspector will provide a detailed report outlining their findings. Take the time to review the report thoroughly, paying close attention to any repairs or issues identified. Consider discussing these findings with your real estate agent to determine the next steps and whether any negotiation with the seller may be necessary. 4. Prioritize safety and structural issues When reviewing the inspection report, pay particular attention to safety and structural issues. These can pose significant risks and may require immediate attention. Common safety concerns include electrical hazards, faulty wiring, and mold or water damage. Structural issues such as foundation problems or roof leaks can also have serious consequences if left unresolved. 5. Consider the long-term implications In addition to addressing any immediate concerns, consider the long-term implications of the inspection findings. Will the property require ongoing maintenance or costly repairs in the future? Are there any potential hazards that could affect your quality of life or the resale value of the home? Factor these considerations into your decision-making process and weigh them against the overall value of the property. In conclusion, the home inspection process is a critical step in the homebuying journey. By hiring a reputable inspector, attending the inspection, reviewing the report carefully, prioritizing safety and structural issues, and considering the long-term implications, homebuyers can navigate this process with confidence and make informed decisions about the property they are considering purchasing.
