One of my favorite things about Yu-Gi-Oh is how a character's deck reflects on their personality. We see this all throughout the series, and it also shows up for the characters' stages in Capsule Monster Coliseum, where Shadi's stages bend the rules and what you're used to, and Bandit Keith's stage is a treasure trove of stolen riches.

Anonymous ☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚ For Marik, do you use a different voice for him as opposed to the one the dub/sub gave him or do you think either voice suits him?
Personally, this blog uses his Japanese VA as his voice, but more focused on the points where it is lower and more gravelly--so towards the later episodes. I am not a huge fan of the heavy manipulation done for the English voice. His voice in Capsule Monster Coliseum is better, but it doesn't have the same fear and charm as the Japanese voice.
So more along the lines of this:

Behold, the Blue Eyes White Dragon! My first crush of Yugioh and my childhood obsession. I woke up to the sad news of the passing of Kazuki Takahashi this morning. Yugioh was not only a huge part of my childhood but for my family as well.
Saturday mornings was a family event as we sat down to watch the newest episode of Yugioh. I also can't tell you the amount of hours we put into the games like Forbidden Memories, Duelist of the Roses and Capsule Monster Coliseum.
The cards broke the gendered toy problem my family household. I was not allowed to get Yugioh Cards at first as my mother said they were for boys and I had to use him to get card packs.
Now a days I have binders of cards and decks scattered around the house with too many Blue Eyes White Dragons to count. I get to play my boyfriend and friends when they are over and I play online with more friends as well.
Yugioh has been such a tremendous part of my life and I know it is the same for many others. His works reached us in so many different ways. Rest in peace.

So I was sad to hear about the passing of Yu-Gi-Oh creator Kazuki Takahashi today. It was a good chunk of my childhood and adolescence. I still have an 00's Shonen Jump magazine with Yami Yugi on it . Originally, it contained a Yugioh PC game demo that got me into the Yugioh video games. Of course, watching the anime was fun too. My favorite Yugioh memory is beating the PS2 game Capsule Monster Coliseum Christmas 2005 with my nephew watching me.
Today I drew my nephew a Kuriboh birthday card in my usual rough but cute style. I drew it to channel my grief and to celebrate my nephew's birthday with one of my favorite memories of us together. And it wouldn't exist without the creation of one man. Thank you, Mr. Takahashi and rest in peace.
