Hello, sorry for the wait! Once again, no new named characters in Chapter 4. So instead, let’s focus on the Gryphea royal family. Rayed Slug is Falcogona Gryphea’s late wife, and it is she and her husband who founded the Gryphea kingdom together. Together they had six heirs, Mustilizans Andracoides, Blue-Stripe Nettle Grub, Andraca Oliviacea, Perola Clara, Black Cup Slug, and finally Kentish Glory.

“Son in Yokohama came across this today—with what looks like eggs. What is it? Thanks!”
Hello, thanks for the submission! For an enthusiastic amateur like me it’s a great feeling to come across something I can ID with confidence.
This fuzzy green and brown moth is a
Parasa lepida lepida, Blue Striped Nettle Grub /  ヒロヘリアオイラガ (”Hiroheri Aoira Ga”) (Limacodidae)
and she is indeed laying eggs! It’s a very bad spot for them, but she must have mistaken it for tree bark.
The caterpillars are distinctive, as the English common name hints. Like most Limacodidae, the caterpillars of this moth have stinging hairs and shouldn’t be handled without protection.
You can see another view of the adult moth and caterpillars on this post.
Thanks for the submission and feel free to submit more bugs any time.
