Lufthansa-Vorstand entschuldigt sich für Beförderungsprobleme Der Vorstand der Lufthansa-Gruppe wendete sich mit einem Brief, genauer mit einer E-Mail, am 27. Juni 2022 an die Kunden. Darin entschuldigt sich der Vorstand für die Probleme im Flugverkehr und bei der Abfertigung der letzten Tage. Dabei werde "sich die Situation kurzfristig kaum verbessern. Zu viele Mitarbeitende und Ressourcen fehlen noch, nicht nur bei unseren Partnern, sondern auch in einigen Bereichen bei uns. Nahezu alle Unternehmen unserer Branche rekrutieren derzeit neue Kolleginnen und Kollegen, allein in Europa sind mehrere Tausend Neueinstellungen geplant. Dieser Kapazitätsaufbau wird sich allerdings erst im kommenden Winter stabilisierend auswirken können." Nicht nur fehlende Kapazitäten sondern auch der anhaltende Krieg in der Ukraine schränken den nutzbaren Luftraum stark ein. Das führe in der Folge zu massiven Engpässen am Himmel und damit zu weiteren Flugverspätungen. Eine deutliche Verbesserung erwartet die Lufthansa erst zum Sommer 2023. Dann will die Airline auch wieder ihre noch verbliebenen acht A380 in Betrieb nehmen. Boeing 787-9-Passagierflugzeuge kompensieren verspätete 777-9 Die Boeing 787-9 „Berlin“ wird die Registrierung D-ABPA erhalten. Das erste interkontinentale Linienziel des Lufthansa „Dreamliners“ wird die kanadische Metropole Toronto sein. Die „Berlin“ ist die erste von insgesamt sieben Boeing 787-9 „Dreamlinern“ für die Lufthansa. Die hochmodernen Langstreckenflugzeuge verbrauchen im Schnitt nur noch rund 2,5 Liter Kerosin pro Passagier und 100 Kilometer Flugstrecke. Das sind rund 30 Prozent weniger als bei ihrem Vorgängermodell. Seit 1960 ist es bei Lufthansa Tradition, dass Flugzeuge nach deutschen Städten benannt werden: Willy Brandt taufte erstmals eine Boeing 707 auf den Namen „Berlin“. Zuletzt trug ein Airbus A380 mit der Kennung D-AIMI den prestigeträchtigen Taufnamen. Die sieben 787-9 Passagierflugzeuge sollen die Kapazitätslücken schließen, die durch die verspätete Auslieferung der Boeing 777-9 Modelle entstehen (ursprünglich geplante Auslieferung 2023, aktuell avisiert 2025). A day trip to Woollongong & the HARS Aviation Museum

85km south of Sydney is Woollongong, an industrial port city. The drive down is very scenic through the Royal National Park.

Our main destination was the HARS Aviation Museum at Shellharbour Airport, but first we stopped by North Woollongong for lunch by the beach.

The HARS Aviation Museum has an extremely impressive collection of aircraft across a number of hangars. They are all packed in quite closely which makes it difficult to photograph but seeing them in person is very cool. You can go inside several of the planes too!

The airport is home to an old Qantas B747-400, still kitted out on the inside which you can tour. There are also wing-walks but I've done one of these previously at the Qantas Founders' Museum in Longreach.

After a lovely couple of hours being guided around by the volunteers, we started the drive home, stopping off at Stanwell Tops for this spectacular view looking back south.
