Full Moon Music.
We’ve always featured darkness since our very first broadcast on Omega WUSB. By our fourth show, we came close in completing our first full-fledged darkness set in a more dis-organized era when we were still trying to figure ourselves out. Back then, ‘darkness’ meant any amount of well-known industrial, metal, and electronic acts with an evil, deviant, or negative tinge to it. Think Throbbing Gristle, Clock DVA, Whitehouse, Godflesh, NON, and etcetera. We finally achieved full force during a bonus summer broadcast (#21) and since then things evolved in how we did those shows. We’ve made a point in doing at least one but no more than two of these dark broadcasts per year, usually in the winter as it’s the best weather, and that’s not including the Halloween broadcasts we’ve done. That’s a whole other class in itself.
It wasn’t until November 2017 when I attended Hospital Productions’ 20th anniversary, a night I’ll never forget. It was the culmination of nine months of benefits and stay-at-home recovery from three life-saving shoulder surgeries. It felt so good being in my element in Brooklyn (Greenpoint) with all the industrialists, goth girls, and noise aficionados dressed in black. Ten hours of paying personal tributes to Dominick Fernow and his label made me realize there was more to look forward to. It’s something never experienced on Long Island, and don’t even get me started with what that “culture” consists of.
That event left a lasting impression on me. If the label had its’ magic on me with Cocaine Death, then I was totally mystified with its’ own showcase. Even everything surrounding it - the train rides, playlists, playbacks, the weather - felt significant to me. And then some. The following month, Omega WUSB opened up the winter broadcasting season / year with more Hospital Productions and Sacred Bones music to air. Both of those labels had their 20th and 10th label anniversaries respectively and we loved what they’ve released. Philip Best’s Alien Existence and a shipment of RRRecords’ cassettes and vinyl arrived at the residence; both which made me feel proud of myself. By Year Six, Omega WUSB was more focused in playing darkwave, synthwave, soundscapes, and even witch house. As the colder months progressed, I discovered a Brooklyn goth girl who followed me and liked my posts on the regular. She was that rare person I really identified with and gave me a serious run for my money like no other.
Through all the euphoric ups, heartbreaking downs, and greyscale steadies, the show must go on. The events of Hospital Productions and identification still surround me. They are a reminder of who I am, where I’m from, what I look forward to, and who I associate with. The darkness broadcasts still go strong and we look forward in doing them like you wouldn’t believe. By now, Omega WUSB has been more organized. Of all the different genres we play, we make it a point to do these dedicated darkness sets when the weather’s suitable and as long as the music’s current. Aside from that, we still run dedicated bonus (and even our one-and-only deluxe Leap Day) noise shows and we aim to make all of our other goth rock, black metal, classic industrial, minimal, and other midnight finds when and where applicable. All of our listeners know that organizing at least 15 different genres and making them all fit is a challenge.
This past winter, we aired one broadcast of dark electronics from Avon Terror Corps and the L.I.E.S. label, doom metal, no-tech, and some textural noise. Somehow we fell into the rabbit hole of darkwave, synthwave, minimal, and EBM and we’ve had enough for a great three-hour idea. With WUSB’s ethos of independent radio and our ethos of everything new, current, and relevant, we had a case to go off-the-board.
Here’s what I / we’ve been feeling and experiencing for the past four winters. This soundtrack supplements the pristine spectre of full moons and constellations in the clear frigid black skies, plus all the positive events that still stays with me make for a distinct spell I can call my own. No Wax Trax, no Bauhaus, The Cure, The Cramps, Siouxsie Sioux, or Depeche Mode. No doubt they’re all legends, but not every tracklist or mix has to be that way. Everything found here is current and on a different level. If at any time I need to get myself up, I’ll reach back to this and know I’ll come back to something I can call what’s mine.

Hamlet, in the park, in the pouring rain.
So, Stratford-Upon-Avon has this open air theatre called the Dell, where it puts on plays throughout the summer; they are free for anyone to go watch and they are mostly amateur productions or youth groups or the like. I’d never seen a production there before and didn’t really understand…what it was…which sounds silly but the only open air theatres I’d been to were very much full, built up theatres with seating and a stage and the only difference to any other theatre is they didn’t have a roof.
But I had been to the park that the Dell is in, and I knew it couldn’t be that.
And it isn’t…it’s just a small raised platform, with two tents either side as the wings, and people can bring their own chairs, or sit on the grass, or stand.
Now, the day I’m headed up there to see this production of Hamlet it was raining. And they had meant to be performing at 12pm and 3pm, but the 12pm performance was cancelled because of the rain. And as we are getting closer and closer to 3pm…it is still very much raining, and pretty heavily. So, I’m checking the website, it’s not saying it’s cancelled…so I head to the park (it’s still very much raining), and I’m walking over wondering if this production is even going ahead - and it did! And with a fairly decent sized audience, all of us sheltering under a tree, many with umbrellas and raincoats (I had neither), and whilst I cannot imagine for a moment it was what the cast would have chosen, the reality of watching it like this was actually sort of wonderful - it was this very communal experience…a way of experiencing Hamlet, together, in this very unique way.
Tumblr media
The nature of the theatre also has other quirks; a dog nearly ran on stage at one point, and it’s a public park so people are just walking past having conversations…but you quickly end up embracing that as part of the nature of this kind of performance. People were also taking photos - something I would normally never do during a play - but it felt very natural in this environment and I ended up taking photos too.
Tumblr media
The company that put on the production is called Necessary Cat Limited…and other than a facebook page I genuinely cannot find any information about them anywhere, except that they are doing the same production of Hamlet at the Edinburgh Fringe. I don’t really understand whether they are a fully amateur company or sort of semi-professional...I got a programme but it really didn’t give me much more information; all of the actors seemed to have backgrounds that were sort of “semi-professional or somewhat around the theatre world but not quite” - and I couldn’t find any of them on social media either; so really that remains something of a mystery.
Tumblr media
The production certainly had an amateur dramatics flavour - which I don’t mean in a negative way *at all*; there is something quite wonderful about that style of performance that I really enjoyed.
All of the actors embodied their roles well, I thought (and a couple were notably impressive…I’ll come to that in a second)...except for Colin Povey as Hamlet. He was…not great, to say the least. I don’t think he was a bad actor, but he was bad at playing the character of Hamlet. The problem was, I think, that he seemed incredibly pleased to be playing Hamlet, which came across as him being incredibly pleased to be Hamlet, and if Hamlet is anything it is not pleased to be himself. There was a slight smirk on his face for almost the whole play - and not in the “Hamlet is roguishly charming sometimes” way, but in a “I am just having a great time and enjoying my life and am very pleased with myself” way - and at times, particularly when he was alone on stage (watching to be or not to be when the performer doesn’t even seem remotely sad is…an odd experience), this…version…of Hamlet was so grating I found myself actively paying attention to the dogs and the passers by and things around me to distract myself because it was just such a grating performance. And honestly, I sort of feel bad talking about this guy who gave us a whole one hour and 45mins long performance in the rain but he was just so wrong for the part.
However, it says something about the pace and the energy of the rest of the cast, and about how this performance was constructed, that I still had a really good time watching a version of Hamlet with a very poorly performed Hamlet.
Because everything else was really quite good.
Firstly, the cutting was excellent; it only ran for an hour and 45mins and somehow did not feel choppy or oddly cut; I noticed a couple of cuts here and there but only because I know the script so well and mostly I couldn’t tell which lines they had gotten rid of at all. They cut the whole Fortinbras plot, which was a sensible move in a version that needed to be shorter and more contained.
The Ophelia actress, Amber Lipman, was wonderful - she brought an intelligence to the role that I feel Ophelia often does not get afforded, whilst also feeling very young, and very used, and very much the victim in a way that made you so angry for her.
The Rosencrantz and Guildenstern actor and actress - Alan Sunter and Caitlin Carter (they played them as two men, just one of the performers happened to be a woman) were also really good; they very much felt like real characters that mattered in their own right and not just as plot devices…which often happens with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern; their individual humanities as well as the relationship between the two of them and between them and Horatio was all very evident and really well done.
Also, a fun reality of the stage set up is one of the tents that acted as a wing was completely open; so you could see the actors “backstage” and Sunter and Carter fist bumped after they exited from doing their first scene and it was adorable.
Now, James Scott as Horatio. The thing is…I don’t really see a lot of Horatios that feel like my Horatio. Of course this is a character I am wedded to far more than probably makes rational sense and of course this is going to mean I am far pickier than is particularly reasonable about how Horatio is played…and I really, really loved James Scott’s performance. He captured that Horatio is complicated; that Horatio is a human caught in this absolutely mad situation; he captured how much Horatio cares…not just about Hamlet, but about Ophelia too, and about Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. He captured how Horatio is trying to do the right thing and to help and feels so out of place at court and just doesn’t quite know what to do but also can’t really quite bring himself to try and stop Hamlet because he loves and trusts him too much not to follow him…until it’s too late.
He understood all of that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he managed to perform all of that whilst acting opposite a Hamlet who, not to repeat the point, was not a good Hamlet at all. I would love to be able to see Scott play Horatio again opposite a Hamlet actor who was worthy of his performance.
There were also some really nice aspects to how Horatio was included in the play; for a start he was just included in a lot of it…he’s there for the whole of the Ophelia madness scene, not just the first part, they had him delivering letters from Hamlet to other characters in place of the side character who normally does it, which I liked; he generally felt very present and I’m always here for more Horatio.
Without being too heavy handed about it, they weaved in far more of a relationship between Horatio and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern than you get to see in most productions; little details like them talking together before and during the Mousetrap play…but then having Horatio immediately go to Hamlet’s side as soon as it moved into the play upon my pipe scene; that reality that these four were all friends, and Horatio was still going to hold those relationships in his heart in some way…but also was never going to side with anyone but Hamlet when it came down to it; I loved how that was done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I loved the care he showed Ophelia and that dynamic was just so well played.
Tumblr media
There was this beautiful moment, after Ophelia has first come on stage and is mad, when she had gone off stage, followed by Horatio, and the two actors were sorting out the flowers for her to come back on with (they also had Horatio come on with a flower in his hair which was a nice touch), and they were doing this in the tent where you could see everything and they were talking and clearly joking with each other and for a moment I basically stopped watching the play because instead I was watching what felt like this beautiful tableau of Horatio and Ophelia just hanging out and having a nice time and it was lovely and sweet and beautiful…I had a lot of emotions in that moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They rather strangely cut Horatio trying to kill himself at the end; genuinely not sure why.
They did, however, have Osric (the Guildenstern actress doubled as Osric and she played them differently enough to make that work) hold Laertes in his arms as he died so…here are some pictures for all you Osric/Laertes shippers out there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the end I went up to James Scott and said something along the lines of “I just wanted to say that Horatio is a character that means so much to me and I so rarely get to see him in a way that feels true to him and you really did that and thank you”...or something along those lines; this sounds very silly but I was amazed I managed to get through saying that to him without crying because at that point I genuinely was so moved and had so many feelings about everything he brought to and embodied about my Horatio.

As someone with sensitive and dry skin, this summer is only getting hotter and as someone who lives in a hot and humid country, I took my skin care to a new level for it to adapt to this environment! .ೃ࿐ Skin Type: Sensitive Skin (face) Dry and Sensitive Skin (body) LONG READ AHEAD! 🍯🩰🧸🪡
Tumblr media
୨⎯ MORNING ROUTINE ⎯୧(DURING BATH) 🛁🫧🌅 -Before anything else, I cleanse my skin with an anti bacterial soap. ↳Product that I used is a local antibacterial soap (Safe guard). You can use anything as long as it gets rid of the build up first.
-I use a body scrub only twice a week (Wednesday and Sunday) to get ride of the clogged dirt in my pores and remove the dead skin cells and product build up and overall just leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean and improve my skin texture. ↳Product that I used is Dr. Teal's Epsom Salt and Body Scrub/ Human Nature Volcanic Cooling Body Scrub

୨⎯ EVENING ROUTINE ⎯୧ (DURING BATH) 🛁🫧🌆 -Still the same from above! I just do not overdo my scrubbing part and keep my skin hydrated! -୨⎯ EVENING ROUTINE ⎯୧(AFTER BATH/SKIN CARE FOR FACE) -Double cleansing your skin is that it removes the make up/sunscreen as well as remove those dirt that has built up through out the day. It also helps with absorption of your serums and other moisturizing products.↳Product that I used is Banila Clean it Zero cleansing Balm and Senka Perfect whip for cleansing foam

-Another serum that I cannot gate keep is this local brand/product in my country! It's Cica Skin Repair Serum Soothing Gel from Ever Organics. You can find any alternative skin care serums/gels that has cica as I swear that this ingredient has helped me with my reddish spots and helped me stop my break out! I genuinely love love this product.
-For spot treatment, I use this only when I have breakouts (I rarely have breakouts nowadays, probably during period days only!) ↳Product that I used Face Republic Calming Spot Oint Gel (I only bought the sachet one)
I think it's essential for us to take care of our body, not just our skin. Our body is our temple and we must good care of it. It's never too late to start and take care of your body. Take care of yourself not to impress others but as a form of self love. I think we should remember and remind ourselves to love and appreciate ourselves. ₍ ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ₎˚୨୧
I hope this post has reached all of you needing inspos or don't know where to begin. I'm still a growing account after all! But I'd like to share with you all what has helped me. Can't wait to have moots too! 🎀🩰🪡

Birthday Scottish actress Siobhan Redmond, born in Glasgow on August 27th 1959.
Please note wiki give her d.o.b as July 27th, but two other sources say August.
Redmond was educated at Park School for Girls in Glasgow’s West End. She then studied English at St Andrews University, it is here she started acting in student productions and is said to have been discovered by oor Makar Liz Lochhead. She went on to complete a one-year postgraduate year at the Bristol Old Vic.
Siobhan might not be a household name, but she has some pretty impressive credentials to her portfolio, her first roles were in comedy shows, the most famous being Alfresco in 1983/84 alongside an impressive line up that included, Robbie Coltrane, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Emma Thompson and Ben Elton, as seen in the first photo.
She went on to become a regular character in the 80’s series Bulman, as Lucy McGinty. Perhaps her biggest TV role was in the 90’s cop show Between the Lines as Det. Sgt. Maureen Connell, after this she appeared with Alan Cummings in the underrated sitcom The High Life, a link to another post today, in 1997 we saw her onscreen with Billy Connolly in an adaptation of Deacon Brodie!
Redmond took on a role in the Hospital-soap type series Holby City as consultant paediatrician and clinical lead of Otter Ward, Janice Taylor. Since then Siobhan seems to have reverted to playing the role of a cop again, in The Bill, crime scene examiner Lorna Hart in 14 episodes in 2007 and in Taggart in 2010 she was Chief Supt Karen Campbell in 6 episodes. Redmond has also provided the voice of Ollie in the popular bairns animated show Nina and the Neurons. More up to date shows include, Queens of Mystery, Amazon Prime series Dark Sense and the Excellent mini series Unforgotten. We last saw Siobhan last year in The Nest and Grantchester, while she returned to Queens of Mystery this year, which also starred the excellent Julie Graham. Prior to that, there was a BBC Scotland comedy pilot, Beep, which aired earlier this year, and the opening episode of the latest series of Midsomer Murders, one of the first shows to return to filming last summer.
Siobhan Redmond has also been very busy treading the boards, as a regular member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, playing among others Beatrice in “Much Ado About Nothing"a nd in a play called ‘The Trick is to Keep Breathing’ which debuted at The Tron Theatre Glasgow, before touring all over the country and in Canada. She also starred in "Look Back in Anger” that followed a world tour in 1990 with Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson.
Siobhan recently appeared in the omedy-drama series Rain Dogs , she also turnedup in the sitcom Two Doors Down, whicha new series is in production just now.

What are some things you did visiting the places that influenced the Arthurian legends? Museums, tours, workshops? 🤩⚔️
Is there something you wish you had brought with you? 🧵
Did you buy any books, or one you already have but in a special edition/in British English? 📚
Did you get sunburned? 🫠
Did you visit/do anything Harry Potter related? 🪄
Could you share something that's not in the questions above about your experience? 🤩
Thank youu~ 🎠👑
Of course! ☺️💕
I went with a small group of 14 people. One of the English lit professors and his wife arranged the trip every few years.
Yes and no. During the week, we had scheduled events in the mornings, but the afternoon/evenings and weekends were ours to do whatever.
Far more luggage than I needed. 😅
London, Glastonbury, Tintagel, Cardiff, York, Carlisle, Stratford-upon-Avon, Edinburgh, Inverness, Dublin
A lambswool sweater 🐑, books (mostly on history/arthurian legends, and a couple of Brian Froud art books). A few trinkets as gifts for others. I'm not much of a souvenir person. Pictures are my souvenirs and took a ton of them. I also mailed myself a postcard from every city we visited.
The trip made me realize how much I'd love to travel the world. Be a nomad for a couple of years.🧳✈️
We traveled by train everywhere. 🚞
Jet lag kicked my ass once I got home. I slept for three days straight. 😆😴
Proper fish and chips. Wrapped in newspaper and drenched with malt vinegar. Good stuff. 😋
The plane ride wasn't too bad. Long and a little cramped. But, I had a window seat, so that was nice.
Musuems, tours, etc. Oh dear, where do I start? We got to go behind the scenes at the British museum to see the original 9th century manuscript that mentioned Arthur for the first time. (Also got brief glimpses of other things rarely on exhibit, like original compositions by Beethoven and Mozart.) Tours at Tintagel, hiked up to Glastonbury Tor, Stonehenge, Hadrian's Wall, Richmond Castle in York
I'm happy to say that I didn't get sunburned.
Sadly, I didn't do anything Harry Potter related. Also, didn't manage to go see the Beefeaters at the Tower of London or Buckingham Palace. (Who goes to England and doesn't do those things? 🤷‍♀️). Next time, definitely.
A few non-Arthurian things we did: toured London on a double decker bus, went to visit Loch Ness (didn't see the monster), a few of us took a weekend trip to Dublin, visited Stratford and saw Shakespeare's birthplace, and a production of Macbeth. Saw Phantom of the Opera on West End.
I would've loved to have spent time in The Lake District, but I only got to see it as we passed through on the train. Breathtakingly beautiful. 🏞
That's all I can think of in one sitting. 😆💖

Rebecca. By Daphne Du Maurier. Avon, 2002 (first published in 1938).
Rating: 4/5 stars
Genre: suspense, Gothic
Part of a Series? No, but there is a sequel
Summary: Ancient, beautiful Manderley, between the rose garden and the sea, is the county's showpiece. Rebecca made it so - even a year after her death, Rebecca's influence still rules there. How can Maxim de Winter's shy new bride ever fill her place or escape her vital shadow?
A shadow that grows longer and darker as the brief summer fades, until, in a moment of climatic revelations, it threatens to eclipse Manderley and its inhabitants completely...
***Full review under the cut.***
Content Warnings: blood, Orientalism, suicide-baiting
Overview: This book has been on my TBR list for ages, but I decided to pick it up because I was in the mood for something Gothic. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Rebecca; I enjoyed the prose style and the ways Du Maurier created suspense, and the main character - the unnamed second Mrs. de Winter - was the perfect archetype for a Gothic heroine. While I do think some things can make modern readers uncomfortable (the age gap and power dynamics of the protagonists, for example) and I have some minor observations about the prose, I also think everything about this novel ties together very well, and for that, I'm giving it 4 stars.
Writing: Du Maurier's prose is very descriptive without being too dense, and I think most of the effect comes from the fact that we see everything through the eyes of the second Mrs. de Winter. Mrs. de Winter is in utter awe of everything around her, and with the first person narration, it's hard not to feel some of the same emotion. While nothing about the Happy Valley, for example, is particularly unique, it feels like a special place because of the emotions that Mrs. de Winter associates with it. Personally, I found this technique rather effective because so much of the book is about memory and emotion, so it would make sense that those thinks seep into the very atmosphere.
I also really appreciated the pace of this novel, and was surprised that everything felt suspenseful without being rushed. Du Maurier tends to describe a lot of things as they happen without skipping forward in time too often, but to my surprise, it didn't feel like the plot was plodding along. Instead, I found there to be a lot of tension in even the most mundane tasks, and I kept reading in hopes of discovering some clue that would make everything crystal clear.
The main critique I have of Du Maurier's prose is that it can get repetitive. I can't tell you how many times I saw a comparison of something to a "schoolboy," for example, and found it distracting, though to be fair, I don't know how much of that is due to Du Maurier's style or my own sensitivities.
Plot: The plot of this novel follows an unnamed young woman, who meets and marries a wealthy and mysterious man named Maxim de Winter while employed as a companion in Monte Carlo. After their honeymoon, the couple returns to Maxim's home in Cornwall - a mysterious old house named Manderly. While there, Mrs. de Winter must contend with the challenges of marrying outside her class as well as the memories of Maxim's first wife - Rebecca.
This book was a Gothic delight and played with some of the tropes in ways that i found very productive and interesting. We had all the hallmarks of the genre - a naive heroine, a mysterious love interest, a mysterious house, and a questionable housekeeper - but instead of the supernatural, memory was the "ghost" that "haunted" the halls of Manderly. I very much enjoyed how out-of-time Manderly felt and how memory could affect the present. I also appreciated the way certain things just felt "off" and kept me engaged.
The only thing I would have liked to see is a more deliberate progression of events. As it stands, a lot of the things that happen in the book feel a bit random, like they don't necessarily build on one another. Granted, most "scenes" do link up with others, but on a macro-level, I wanted a little bit more of a build-up. This could be entirely my personal preference, however, so take that as you will.
Characters: Mrs. de Winter, our protagonist and narrator, was the perfect candidate for a Gothic heroine. She is young and naive, which makes everything feel more impactful, but she also has some social anxiety, which heightens the emotion throughout the whole novel. I really enjoyed the way Du Maurier crafted her inner voice, and I could completely sympathize with Mrs. de Winter's frustration and powerlessness. I do wish, however, that she had been a little more agentive towards the end; though we do see her "grow up" a little, I wanted her to be more assertive and take some command. But alas.
Maxim de Winter was meant to fill the role of the dark, brooding love interest, and I think Du Maurier pulled it off well. The power imbalance that results from Maxim being not only older than Mrs. de Winter, but also more wealthy was at once frustrating (because we want to see them on equal footing) and fascinating (because it created great literary patterns); while I hated that Maxim treated Mrs. de Winter like a child, I also found their dynamic to be interesting given the genre of the book, and I was intrigued by the way Mrs. de Winter tried to navigate their ups and downs. The only thing I wish was different was Maxim's allure; as it stands, Maxum doesn't really come across as an irresistible love interest. He's not very sensual or considerate, and it's hard to see why Mrs. de Winter is so devoted to him. To be fair, though, this also creates some interesting literary implications - if Maxim is rather bland, that tells us something about Mrs. de Winter's naivite and her desperation to escape her employer at the beginning of the book. But still, I would have liked to see more out of Maxim.
Supporting characters were surprisingly likeable from a contemporary lens. I adored the friendship that formed between Mrs. de Winter and Frank, Maxim's solicitor, and I half wished they would get together. I also loved the warm relationship that sprung up between Mrs. de Winter and Beatrice, Maxim's sister. At first, I expected it to be hostile, but it turned into a genuinely caring and loving bond, and I was so glad that there was at least one character who could reach out to our protagonist and read her emotions.
If there's anything like an antagonist, it would be Mrs. Danvers, Maxim's housekeeper. Mrs. Danvers was also the confidante of Maxim's late wife, Rebecca, and shows extreme devotion to her even a year (or more) after her death. While I liked how unsettling Mrs. Danvers was, I also think she showed her hand too early. Instead of laying out everything for the reader, I would have liked to see Mrs. Danvers continue to be mysterious, without us completely knowing the reason why.
TL;DR: Rebecca is a well-crafted suspense novel that plays with and executes its Gothic conventions effectively. While there are things I would have changed here and there, I think the book has endured for a reason, and I would recommend it to people who like Gothic mystery but are perhaps put off by the genre's dabbling with the supernatural.

Now, over the last few years, I have been using a few of Avon’s skincare products, and the one that is in…

January: 73 fanfic (7 of which DNF) and 986.912 words June: 56 fanfics (0 of which DNF) and 970.201 words May: 56 fanfics (5 of which DNF) and 962.930 words
HOW AM I DOING?
Compared with previous years

All in all, I think I can still at least hit the 9.5 millions words I reached last year, if I manage to deal with the seasonal depression that always hits me the hardest in late summer/fall.
Challenge tasks
Regular Mode:
Tasks: 107/125 done (86~%).
Categories: 6/11 done (AUs, Content, Minorities, Ships, Title, Tropes)
Still left before completion: completion at 80%, so I am technically already done.
Hard Mode:
Tasks: 56/87 done (65~%)
Categories: 3/12 done (AUs, Minorities, Ships)
Still left before completion: completion at 85, so 20~ still left to go. I think I can manage it.
Extreme Mode:
Tasks: 31/65 done (48~%)
Categories: 0/11 done
Still left before completion: completion at 95%, so 47~% still left. Time wise it can be managed then, since I'm halfway there. Not sure I can actually do it since I'm left with all of the actually hard ones to do.
Tasks I'm struggling with:
Author's unger age 20: I have a friend that turned 48 this year that writes in Italian, so the 45+ task I could manage easily. But I have yet to find someone younger than 20.
Reading from rec lists and bookmarks: it's something I usually don't do, because I'm super picky already and sorting through other people's favorites is tedious for me. Also, I'm one of those "forever alone" people when it comes to fandoms. My fandom friends (which are few) and I don't really do the suggesting fanfics thing. Mostly because we don't ship the same things unfortunately.
Reading from ff.net: I tried multiple times opening ff.net in these months... I have yet to read even a single fic. I'm just too used to how much easier it is to both find and read on AO3.
"Character has the same profession as you" task: can be done easily, right? Everyone at a certain point was a student... Yeah, problem is I don't want to consider student a profession. And I had very few jobs so far (was an avon "lady" when I was still in high school before I learnt what an MLM was, tutored a bit after high school, was an intern in a couple of companies and did a little bit of freelance proof reading). None of which I really care to read about even if I manage to find fanfics with them. Don't know, this task in particular is almost triggering for me, apparently.
Reading from different fandoms: while I did read from more than 30 different fandoms, for most of my minor fandoms I read short things, mostly under 5.000 words. Which makes the Fandom tasks the hardest for me. Also, I don't know if I should consider all of the Star Wars content as just one fandom, or if each trilogy should be considered it's own (same for each animated show and each disney+ series).
Numbers category in general: I literally keep this one category always closed in extreme mode (and I skip it quickly in hard mode). Seeing those numbers I already know I won't reach apparently make me very anxious. Which means I'm ignoring even those tasks I could probably complete.
Reading WIPs specifically: it's just something I usually don't do because of memory issues. But I have one author in particular that I love that has plenty of WIPs. I'm just procrastinating on this one I guess.
Titles from song lyrics/books: despite my love for titling fanfictions with lyrics, I struggle finding titles referencing songs from the 80's and the 90's. And don't even get me started with books.
The "Childhood friends to Enemies to Lovers" Trope: I know one ship in particular that fits this trope. And it's my damn NOTP for that specific fandom. (I mean, if anyone know of an Obikin/Vaderwan with Obi-Wan the same age as Anakin, the two of them being friends, then Anakin falling then the two of them becoming lovers, I would read the fuck out of it. But I still haven't found something like this so... For now this damn trope is killing me.)
Relay fanfics: even if now I know what they actually are, I stumbled into only one. There's a second one I'm not sure about, because there are not tags or notes that make it obvious that it's a relay. otherwise, multiauthors fanfics are apparently something I struggle to find.
5 fanfics each from 5 fandom events: I managed to do this for 2 events so far. Like I mentioned already, I'm picky, so for me it's hard to be so restricted. I guess I just have to get over it and actually search for events collections...
Tasks I surprising didn't struggle with at all:
25 different soulmates AU: I'm literally missing just 4. Maybe it's because I consider different some of these AUs on "technicalities". Like, I think it counts as a different soulmate AU if both have marks but they work in different way. Like, maybe one the mark appears when you meet, another has the mark that works more like a compass, or things like that.
AUs in general: I am am literally 7 fanfics away from completing even the extreme mode AU category. And it's mostly because I'm waiting for being in the mood to read the AUs I'm left with and I need to stumble into the 4 aforementioned different soulmates AUs.
Minorities: I never realized how much I read about minorities apparently, because I'm only 3 fanfics away from being done with this category in all extreme mode (already done with them in the other difficulties).
Ships categories: I'm 7 ships away from being done with the first of the 2 tasks from extreme mode. It'll probably be a little bit harder to complete the second task. But I was surprised by how quickly I managed this, considering I usually stick to my 10 usual ships. This one really pushed me into reading more into my minor ships and exploring ship I found interesting but never read about.
"one of each for every letter of the alphabet" tasks: I had to specifically search for letters like K, X and Z, but all in all it wasn't hard at all, especially since you can sort fanfics easily on AO3. (And there are alphabets challenges apparently!)
Tropes: other than the previously mentioned trope in specific, I'm basically missing only 4 total tropes tasks. Three because I'm very anal about finding the right fanfic about said trope otherwise I get annoyed with them and the last one is the tropesgiving event task. Because I haven't bothered looking for it yet.
Kinky stuff: another thing I found out about me because of this challenge. I'm more into reading kinky fanfictions that I realized at first.
Fandoms under 2000-1000-500-100 fanfics: I'm into niche things. Didn't know some of the things I like are actually this niche.

Every Morning Skincare routine
Tumblr media
🌞 Rise and shine! Let's dive into my invigorating morning routine, the ultimate bathing extravaganza! 🚿✨
First things first, I kick-start my day by giving my skin a thorough cleanse using a trusty antibacterial soap. I personally opt for a local gem called Safe Guard, but feel free to choose any soap that effectively eliminates the gunk and grime. Get that buildup out of here!
To achieve a fresh and revitalized complexion, I indulge in a body scrub twice a week—Wednesdays and Sundays are my go-to scrub days. It's like a mini spa session, banishing impurities from my pores, bidding farewell to dead skin cells and product residue. You can join the fun with Dr. Teal's Epsom Salt and Body Scrub or the refreshing Human Nature Volcanic Cooling Body Scrub.
Ah, can't forget my shower gel! The scent of the one I use from Bath and Body Works, the Strawberry Pound Cake Moisturizing Body Wash, is simply irresistible. It's not only affordable but also indulges my senses with its delightful gourmand fragrance.
Now, let's talk scars. As someone who's dealt with childhood battle wounds and bug bites, I understand the struggle. Hydration and knowing the right ingredients to fade those scars are crucial. Personally, I swear by the magical powers of Niacinamide and Vitamin C in lightening those marks. Avon's Green Papaya and Calamansi Lotion or Vaseline's UV Extra Brightening Nourishing Niacinamide Lotion have been my trusted allies in this scar-fading journey.
A touch of fragrance completes my morning ritual. I adore alternating between luscious gourmand scents and delicate floral and powdery notes. My weapon of choice? Fragrance mists! Spritzing myself with Fairytale, JOY, and Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte by BnBW adds that extra touch of magic to my day. Oh, and I've fallen head over heels for the oil-based perfume called Cassiopeia—it's pure enchantment in a bottle!
Now let's move on to my face skin care routine—because glowing skin is always in, honey! 💁‍♀️
To keep things simple, I've been washing my face with just water instead of a cleanser since my teenage years. I know, it's a bit controversial, but it has worked wonders for me.
To combat those pesky eye puffiness, I employ a nifty trick—I glide an ice cube over my eyes. Trust me, it's like a mini wake-up call for your peepers!
Next up, it's time to lavish my skin with some much-needed hydration. I've discovered a moisturizer that's perfect for this summer—it's the Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream. This lightweight marvel not only quenches my skin's thirst but also infuses it with youthfulness and radiance. It's a summer dream come true!
Sunscreen is a non-negotiable step in my routine. The one I swear by is the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ PA++++. It's the only sunscreen that has never caused me to break out. Remember, folks, sunscreen is your best friend!
Now, let's refresh and invigorate our skin with a glorious face mist or facial spray. The Evian Brumisateur Natural Mineral Water Facial Spray does the job perfectly, leaving my skin hydrated and oh-so-fresh!
When it comes to my evening routine, I stick to what works. I maintain the same steps as in the morning, ensuring not to overdo the scrubbing part and keeping my skin well-hydrated. Consistency is key!
After my relaxing bath, it's time for the ultimate face skin care routine!
Double cleansing is the name of the game, folks. This powerful duo—Banila Clean it Zero cleansing Balm and Senka Perfect Whip cleansing foam—removes makeup, sunscreen, and all the grime that has accumulated throughout the day. It paves the way for better absorption of serums and moisturizers. It's like a fresh canvas for your skin!
Now, let's talk about serums, my secret weapons for combating dark spots. The Axis Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum is an absolute game-changer. With its 5% niacinamide, it's like a brightening elixir for my skin. It has worked wonders in banishing those pesky spots!
Speaking of serums, let me introduce you to a local gem—the Cica Skin Repair Serum Soothing Gel from Ever Organics. This little miracle worker, packed with cica, has been a savior for my reddish spots and has prevented pesky breakouts. Trust me, it's love at first application!
For those occasional breakouts (hello, period days!), I rely on Face Republic's Calming Spot Ointment Gel. It's my trusty spot treatment that swoops in to save the day. The sachet version is my go-to.
Remember, taking care of our bodies is not just about the skin; it's about nurturing ourselves as a whole. Our bodies are temples, and it's never too late to start showing them some love. Let's prioritize self-care, not to impress others, but as a genuine act of self-love and appreciation.
I hope this post has provided you with inspiration or a starting point. As my account continues to grow, I look forward to connecting with more like-minded individuals! Cheers to bathing bliss and self-love! 🎀🩰

After-sun Products Market To Robust Growth with Future Assessment and Revenue Expansions by 2030
Tumblr media
After-sun products are designed to soothe and moisturize the skin after exposure to the sun. These products are typically used after spending time outdoors or after a day at the beach, and can help to alleviate the discomfort and dryness that can result from sunburn or prolonged sun exposure. Some common types of after-sun products include:
Aloe vera gel: Aloe vera is a natural ingredient that is known for its soothing properties. Aloe vera gel can help to cool and hydrate the skin, reducing redness and inflammation.
Moisturizing lotions: After-sun lotions are designed to hydrate and nourish the skin, replenishing moisture that may have been lost due to sun exposure. Look for products that contain ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, or coconut oil.
Cooling sprays: Cooling sprays can provide a refreshing burst of mist that can help to cool and soothe the skin. Some sprays may also contain ingredients like menthol or camphor, which can help to provide additional relief.
Hydrocortisone cream: Hydrocortisone cream can help to reduce inflammation and itching caused by sunburn. This type of cream is available over-the-counter and should be used as directed.
Vitamin E oil: Vitamin E oil can help to reduce inflammation and scarring, making it a good choice for people who have experienced severe sunburn.
It's important to remember that after-sun products are not a substitute for sunscreen, which should be applied regularly and liberally to protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun.
The after-sun products market is a growing industry that includes a wide range of products designed to soothe and protect the skin after sun exposure. The market includes a variety of products such as lotions, sprays, gels, creams, and oils, which are formulated with ingredients that provide hydration, cooling, and relief from the symptoms of sunburn.
Key players operating in global after-sun products market include L'Oréal Group, Beiersdorf AG, Christian Dior SE, The Estee Lauder Companies Inc., Shiseido Co., Avon Products, Inc., Johnson & Johnson Services, Inc., Kao Corporation, Unilever PLC, and The Procter & Gamble Company.
The demand for after-sun products is driven by a variety of factors, including increasing awareness of the harmful effects of sun exposure, growing concerns about skin cancer, and a desire for products that can soothe and protect the skin after spending time outdoors.
During the summer months, when people tend to spend more time outdoors, there is typically an uptick in demand for after-sun products. However, the market for these products is not limited to the summer season, as sunburn and skin damage can occur year-round in many regions.
Additionally, consumers are increasingly looking for after-sun products that are natural, organic, and free from harmful chemicals. This trend is driven by a growing awareness of the potential risks associated with synthetic ingredients, as well as a desire for products that are environmentally sustainable.
The COVID-19 pandemic has also had an impact on the after-sun products market, as more people are spending time outdoors and seeking products to protect their skin from sun damage while practicing social distancing. However, the pandemic has also led to supply chain disruptions and economic uncertainty, which may impact demand in the short term.
The after-sun products market has been experiencing steady growth in recent years and is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. Several factors are contributing to this growth, including increasing awareness of the harmful effects of sun exposure, rising concerns about skin cancer, and growing demand for natural and organic skincare products.
The COVID-19 pandemic has also had an impact on the after-sun products market, as more people are spending time outdoors and seeking products to protect their skin from sun damage while practicing social distancing. This has led to increased demand for after-sun products, particularly in regions with high levels of sun exposure.
Additionally, there is growing demand for after-sun products that are natural, organic, and free from harmful chemicals. Consumers are becoming more aware of the potential risks associated with synthetic ingredients, and are seeking out products that are environmentally sustainable.
The after-sun products market has a wide range of applications, as these products are designed to soothe, hydrate, and protect the skin after exposure to the sun. Some of the key applications of after-sun products include:
Sunburn relief: After-sun products are often used to relieve the symptoms of sunburn, including redness, pain, and inflammation. These products can provide cooling and soothing relief to the skin, and may contain ingredients like aloe vera, chamomile, and menthol.
Hydration: Spending time in the sun can dry out the skin, so after-sun products are often used to provide hydration and nourishment to the skin. These products may contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and shea butter, which help to restore moisture to the skin.
Protection: After-sun products can also help to protect the skin from further damage, as they may contain ingredients like antioxidants, which can neutralize free radicals and prevent oxidative damage.
Anti-aging: Sun exposure can accelerate the aging process, so after-sun products may also have anti-aging properties. These products may contain ingredients like retinol, vitamin C, and peptides, which help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and promote collagen production.
Skincare maintenance: After-sun products can be used as part of a regular skincare routine to maintain healthy, hydrated, and protected skin. These products can be used year-round, not just during the summer months when sun exposure is more common.
The after-sun products market offers a range of benefits to consumers, including:
Sunburn relief: After-sun products are designed to provide relief for sunburned skin, with ingredients like aloe vera and chamomile helping to soothe and calm irritated skin.
Hydration: After-sun products can help to replenish lost moisture in the skin after sun exposure, preventing dryness and keeping skin feeling soft and supple.
Protection: Many after-sun products contain antioxidants and other ingredients that help to protect the skin from further damage caused by sun exposure.
Anti-aging: Some after-sun products contain ingredients like retinol and vitamin C, which have anti-aging properties and can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Maintenance: After-sun products can be used year-round as part of a regular skincare routine to maintain healthy, hydrated, and protected skin.
Natural and organic options: There is a growing demand for natural and organic after-sun products, which offer consumers a safer, more sustainable alternative to conventional products that may contain synthetic ingredients.
Convenient: After-sun products are easy to use and can be applied quickly and easily after sun exposure, making them a convenient way to care for the skin.
Overall, the after-sun products market offers a variety of benefits to consumers, from sunburn relief to anti-aging properties, and provides a range of options to meet the growing demand for natural and organic skincare products.
