It was only a matter of time before I brought the horses into my next fandom, because this is a thing I think about. So, here of my headcanons for the Tales of Zestiria and Berseria characters if they were horses/for a centaur AU.
Tales of Zestiria
Mikleo – Camargue horse Native to southern France, lives in the marshes down there, semi-feral.
Sorey - Mustang  Feral horse from the American west, descended from the horses that the Spaniards lost while exploring and semi-cultivated by the Indian tribes and cowboys, usually on the small end of the horse scale so usually no more than 142.24 centimeters (about 14 hands) in height to the withers [the little bump where the neck meets the body on the top of the horse].
Lailah – Andalusian horse Very old breed, been around since around the 1400s, used in dressage and trick shows now, very powerful, very Baroque style horse with a big neck and big muscles in the haunches but very graceful.
Edna – Welsh Cob (section A) aka Welsh Mountain Pony Originated from Whales, section just denotes a type and height range, section A is the smallest, really old horse breed but refined over the years as the need for the breed has changed.
Zaveid – Rocky Mountain Horse American breed from Kentucky and not the Rocky Mountains, used for overseeing plantations/ranches, pulling carriages and for riding, gaited horse because windstepping would totally be a specific gait.
Dezel – Tennessee Walking Horse American breed actually from Tennessee, used for the same thing as the Rocky Mountain horse, also gaited because windstepping.
Rose – American Quarter Horse This is the cowboy breed if you will, used for work on the ranch and range, got its name from being able to sprint a quarter mile, very robust and stocky horse, generally really good all around/any job horses.
Alisha – Arabian Originated in what is now Arabia, oldest breed in the world meaning that we have records of stud books and purposeful breeding long before the others, very elegant horse, great endurance, used today in most other breeds to “lighten then up”, purest breed still in the world, used as a riding horse and formerly as a warhorse.
Sergei – Belgian Draft/Heavy Horse Originally from Belgium, strongest horse in the world, cart horse so a very steady and placid temperament, very dependable.
Tales of Berseria
Velvet – Friesian From the Netherlands, used in the late medieval period as a warhorse then turned over to harness and pleasure riding, beautiful and majestic as fuck, usually black, have a distinct action with their front legs at the trot that looks wonderful, once again a very classically Baroque looking horse, often used in medieval movies and/or for the bad guy’s horse.
Artorius – Lippizan From what is now Slovenia, another Baroque looking breed, used as a warhorse but now mostly for pleasure riding, famous in Vienna for their Airs Above the Ground, basically for old military movements, born black and turn white but a few stay bay their entire lives and those are considered good luck.
Eleanor – Connemara Pony From Ireland, hardy native pony used for various jobs over the years, now known for being excellent children’s ponies.
Magilou – Shetland Pony Native to the Shetland Islands in Scotland, used to be used as pack and then pit ponies for the mines, very small and hardy breed, because of size they are generally used for children’s ponies which is a bad idea because they are stubborn as fuck, I’ve known two in my life and they don’t give a damn they’re 1/4th your size they will take you where they want to go.
Rokorou – Kiso Horse/Pony One of the 8 remaining breeds of Japanese horses and is critically endangered like most of them, nearly destroyed in the Meji era because the army wanted the horses taller and gelded all of the males, because one escaped gelding efforts are being made to restore the breed to original type, couldn’t find what they were used for.
Eizen – Welsh Cob (Section D) Tallest of the Welsh Cobs/Ponies.
Laphi/Phi – Akhal-Teke From Turkmenistan, another old horse breed, used for warfare and now for show, distinct upright neck and lanky frame, very well known for their metallic looking coat, I swear these are real horses that actually exist, they look so fucking beautiful.
