No one asked for my ocs back story but listen:

Doran had to see his parents being killed in front of him as a child. The murderers had some mad body augmentations so his parents couldn't do anything. He tried to stop them but they probably just kicked him away and laughed at his attempt

Since then he just carried the survivors guilt with him and an wish of 'getting stronger' and getting more power

After the incident he got adopted by some reletives part of V's nomad clan, they were around 8-10.

He was never open with any of his pain and thoughts, so really his obsession with getting stronger (with body upgrades mostly) was not anything known.

Doran and Violet (V) was friends along with another person (still not sure who they are but I know their fate rip). I say they were all friends but it was majority V being the bridge between those two. Doran and the other friend only spent time together if V was present, and they were pretty... Different and overall didn't get along + mostly played nice for V's sake.

Somewhere in their early teens V and Doran started dating. Often going out to do (dumb) shit, V was pretty rebellious and Doran honestly just wanted to find opportunities to 'grow' (and to keep V safe)

Fast forward to them being 18-20... Doran have secretly managed to get close with some members of maelstrom. Mostly he was rubbing their backs and they finally trusted him enough to give him some sort of 'joining' ritual mission.

Which, being maelstrom, was kinda fucked... They wanted him to prove he was willing to leave his clan, so they wanted him to make 'an grand exit'. Cut all ties and all that. Doran spent some time trying to think up what would satisfy them enough to let him go with them... And came to the conclusion he had to do something big.

Yeah, he was going to kill off his friend + gf. But since Doran did actually have some feelings for V, he wanted to not actually kill her, but hurt her enough so maelstrom would be impressed/think she died.

V, Doran and the friend had their own secluded 'base' (abandoned building/factory) where they spent most their time at. So Doran called both of them over with some excuse or lie. (good to note is that Doran is sort of an tech freak, so ofc he's set up surveillance around their place so he can monitor when the others arrive etc)

I'm thinking Doran probably told them that he was hurt or stuck/in danger around the facility, so that V and the friend came asap. He rigged an specific room with explosives (my dude is also a fan of explosives, oops) and while keeping eyes on them as they searched for 'him'. Once he saw they were relatively close, and would find the right room soon, he called V from a secret number. And made her basically stop the searching as she was trying to understand wtf was going on as they talked. Meanwhile the friend continued to look.

He probably was cryptic about the phone call and gave her some instructions to 'look out the window' or something, to get her further from the explosives. Also... He probably said 'I'm sorry' as his final words to V as he seconds later detonated the explosives. V got that stomach drop feeling that something was happening that was Bad ™ and just as she called for the friend... The explosives blew.

After that was done he basically took some evidence from cameras he set around the place (outside the facility) and showed the footage to maelstrom people. (who thought it was hilarious he killed his gf and best friend, since that was what he claimed he did) They were amused and convinced of his loyalty and he got to come with them back to night city to begin his criminal career

And V + the friend? Well uh... The friend died on impact, nothing left of them to find/bury. V was in bad shape, she almost died. She lost an eye permanently from the blast but otherwise the clan was able to get her back to health. Her recovery and all that probably took close to two years. Then she finally left to Night city to find Doran
