Highland Adventure Day 1: Culross & Inverness
Welcome to day one of our trip around Scotland! For a wee bit of background, check out my post from yesterday. Also, apologies for the unedited photos below, lol.
We left Edinburgh around noon, and after a quick stop near the airport to drop my son off at the kennel, we drove to Culross in Fife. This quaint little town has been on my “to visit” list for a while, and while it’s only an hours drive from Edinburgh, it’s not very easy to get to on public transport. So I figured while we had the rental car and since it was on our way anyway, we might as well drive through.
We had a late lunch at the Biscuit Cafe, and then wandered the streets and waterfront. For those who don’t know, Outlander filmed some scenes in seasons 1 and 2 here, and learning this promoted my dad to say “Is this entire trip just going to places from that show?”. Ahem, NO, dad. The village would be worth a visit regardless!

Me being broody or something in one of the side streets
We then drove up to Inverness, which took about 3 hours (plus stops). Everything anyone has told me about Inverness turned out to be true: it’s not really worth a visit. It’s nice enough but it lacks the old charm of Edinburgh or the spunk of Glasgow. It is, however, a good place to stop for a night on your way further north so that’s what we did. We stayed at the Kingsmills Hotel, about a 20 minute walk from the city centre, and nice and quiet. We walked to town for dinner, and though we were underwhelmed by Inverness itself, we had a good dinner at Prime on the River Ness.

This is not a very photogenic city, but I did manage this shot from the river!
Will share Day 2 tomorrow!

Information about Edinburgh Tattoo 2020 Tickets, seating plans, packages and transports
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will start from the 7-29th August of this year. It is an evening of live military performances from Regiments and Military bands that include the dancers, performers, singers, military displays, massed pipes and drums, special lighting effects and the Lone Piper.
Edinburgh Military Tattoo is just closer to its 70th anniversary that the International Festival and Fringe are celebrating in August 2020. Tattoo fans who want to join this iconic festival can buy Edin Tattoo Tickets from our most consistent and unfailing online platform.
When should I buy 2020 Tattoo Tickets?
Edinburgh Military Tattoo Tickets sale has been started from December 2nd, 2019.  Households can buy a maximum of 8 tickets. Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets can be bought from the office in York Street.
Tumblr media
For the best selection of seats that suit your budget the earlier the better. Weekdays the performances are Monday to Friday at 9:00 pm and on Saturday at 7:15 pm and 10:30 pm.  There is no tattoo on any Sunday in August.
The dates for the extended fireworks at the end of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2020 are 8th/15th/22nd and 29th August 2020.
Its great fun and the 70th birthday year, 2020 will be pretty spectacular.  It is also the last year for Brigadier David Allfrey MBE, the Tattoo’s outgoing Chief Executive and Producer of the last 10 years.
A temporary stand is erected here and the seats are outside with no cover or protection from the elements unless you are in the Royal Gallery.   These seats are of course are very expensive and can be found in the purple section.
factors must consider when booking Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets 2020.
Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets Prices:
The more you pay, get the seat better.  A rough guide to the prices is sections 1/16 & 17 (dark blue and green) are the cheap Edinburgh Tattoo tickets found nearest the castle and sections 8 and 9 (pink & purple) are the most expensive.
The only downside to the cheapest seats is that you may have slightly more awkward visibility to the fireworks display.
The other seats for The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, (metal and quite steep) much prefer sitting in the middle sections 3/4 or 13/14/15  lower down.
The Light blue section offers excellent views and is reflected in slightly higher Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets prices in these sections. Blue Sections 2-5 and 12-15.
Tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo are priced dynamically, therefore, these seat prices may change subject to demand and availability. Order as early as possible before demand increases so much that the price does too!
The seats for the tattoo start at rows A/b/c and then after the alphabet, they begin in double letters. CC/DD, these seats will be higher up. At ground level the front two rows, A and B are reserved for wheelchair users.
Brown section: Sections 6/7, 10/11 brown colors are regarded as having good views and as such the price rises Fridays and Saturdays. There are no Tattoo performances on a Sunday.
Cheap Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets:
If you apply for the preview 2020 Tattoo tickets before the official opening ceremony these are cheaper.
17-21 August 2020:
These are the expected evenings the program is being recorded by the BBC for worldwide transmission at a later date. August 12, 19, 26 August at 9.00 pm are off-peak evening shows and should be cheaper.
The Best view of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo?
Everyone gets a really good view. People think that they have to sit high up to see but this is simply not the case. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is arranged and planned to enable everyone to see. The Regiments may enter from Edinburgh Castle but often other performers will enter from the center of the arena.
As the show starts, all artistes came the Royal Boxes initially (purple/pink sections 8/9) but then will move around the large esplanade.
Join Friends of the Edinburgh Tattoo:
If you are worried about getting the Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets you want, then this may be a good option. The benefits are
·        The opportunity to purchase Tickets to Edinburgh Tattoo during a priority booking period.
·        The opportunity to purchase Tattoo Edinburgh Tickets to attend exclusive Friends’ Backstage Tours (subject to availability).
·        10% discount on Tattoo merchandise.
·        A copy of Salute Magazine of Tattoo, the magazine exclusively for Friends of the Tattoo sent to you twice a year.
·        A Single membership can be purchased at a cost of £25.00 per year, or a joint membership (two people at the same address) can be purchased at a cost of £45.00 per year.
Edinburgh Tattoo 2020 Packages:
There are many packages, some include a 4-course meal, champagne, or toast to the haggis. Some packages require dress code and some offer seats outdoors and others let you choose your seat.  Be sure to check what you are buying.
Something to remember:
Restricted Access:
If you have booked disabled/wheelchair seating –  you may be able to request a vehicle pass that will allow access to the Esplanade by car, taxi or ambulance. They are subject to availability and are not available for the preview evening or for any Saturday.
If you have a vehicle pass then you will go on convoy onto Edinburgh Castle Esplanade. Be aware if you are in a taxi you may be waiting for some period of time, pre-agree a set fare, many taxi or private chauffeur will help with this.
Wheelchair Seating:
Large coaches are not allowed to join the convoy. In The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, wheelchair seating is along the front rows of sections 1-5 and 12-17 at ground level and Section 10 facing Edinburgh Castle.
These spaces allow for an attendant’s seat.  There are medical services on the esplanade if required and help can be given to push wheelchairs up the cobbled street.
Also, remember that the convoy arrives before everyone is seated which means a longer evening. If it is cool be prepared and bring a blanket, there are people to help and medics on-site if required. Hot drinks are also available to buy on the esplanade and seat cushions and ponchos.
Note:
No umbrellas, no flash photography, no alcohol, and no glass bottles are permitted. Only small bags or rucksacks under 25 liters are permitted. All bags are searched. No vaping or smoking allowed in the tattoo arena. You will also need your ID with official Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets for entry as security is very tight.
What to wear in Edinburgh Tattoo 2020?
It may be warm, it may be cold. This is Scotland after all. Always wear layers and buy the £1 padded seat cushion at the event.
Take a warm jumper over a top. Warm coat with hood, remember, no umbrellas if it rains, comfortable shoes for walking up the cobbled Royal Mile and gloves in my pocket as a backup. The temp changes dramatically around 9.30/10 pm and the later Saturday night 10.30 show will be significantly colder.
The queue to enter the Edinburgh Military Tattoo?
Everyone has allocated seating. It is a very long queue down Johnson Terrace and it’s uphill all the way back to the Castle.
There are no pre-show acts. The commentator is the only warm-up before the Tattoo starts. You may wish to be seated and enjoy the atmosphere. The entrance to the castle is narrow and cobbled and does a bottleneck. If you don’t like crowds wait till nearer showtime.
Edinburgh Restaurants:
There are plenty of restaurants around the Royal Mile and the Grassmarket offering something for everyone's purse.
Book your Edinburgh Tattoo Ticket when you Book your restaurants.  Some of the popular nearby restaurants include, Devil’s Advocate, Witchery – can’t get much closer to the Tattoo – The Tower restaurant, 5 min walk, Castle Terrace Restaurant, Amber Restaurant at the Scotch Whisky experience- beside Tattoo, Vittorio on the bridge and the lovely Divino Enoteca Italian restaurant.
Transport for Edinburgh Tattoo 2020:
Edinburgh Transport:
Trains can also be an issue if you are staying for the 10.30 late Saturday night performance which finishes at midnight.  The last Scotrail train to Glasgow is usually 11.45 and you would not catch this train after the late show.
City link buses run through the night from Edinburgh to Glasgow. The bus station is beside St Andrews Square.
During the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, there are extended train services for Perth, Dundee, Fife, and North Berwick. The Edinburgh Military Tattoo show lasts one hour and 40 mints.
Edinburgh Buses and Trams:
There are buses and trams around the city to the airport.  This may be a good option if you are worried about parking. Consider leaving your car at the ‘Park and Ride’ near Edinburgh airport and take the tram in and out.
Edinburgh Trams have in the past operated an overnight service through the night to 5.30 am during the festival and tattoo making it easier to move around the city and return to your accommodation.
The nearest tram stop from the Edinburgh Military Tattoo is on Princes Street and this will take a brisk 10 min walk to reach but realistically with the crowds more like 20 mints. Walk down the Royal mile then turn right down the Mound to connect with the tram.
Lothian buses have an excellent website and run a night bus till 4.30 am. For details and to plan your route home check out Lothianbuses.com. They have an excellent app and remember an all-day bus pass costs £4.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Charity:
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a none for profit organization, to help support the many Royal military charities and veterans.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has its own fireworks at the end of the weekend performances but the locals of Edinburgh know that the best show is always at the end of the Festivals.
Glasgow Annual World Pipe Band Competition:
If you love the pipes and drums don’t miss Glasgow's annual World pipe band competition again held on August 14/15th 2020. It is an amazing day out and of course, Glasgow is a fabulous city famous for Rennie Mackintosh, stunning architecture and a stone's throw from Loch Lomond.
Where Can buy Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets?
Tattoo fans can get Last MinuteTattoo Tickets through our steadfast online ticketing market place. www.edinburghtattotickets.com is the most unfaltering source of Tattoo Ticket Edinburgh.

Jesus Christ😱😱👉"Another problem is that Arlington Memorial Bridge, which spans the Potomac River and connects Arlington National Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial, might not be able to hold the weight."
The closest Abrams tanks appeared to be a 350-mile drive away at the 150th Cavalry Regiment, a unit of the West Virginia National Guard in Bluefield, W.Va.
CLUELESS IDIOT🤣😂🤣 "Mr. Trump said that “brand-new Abrams tanks” and “brand-new Sherman tanks” would be on display on Thursday. The M1 Abrams tank was used during the Persian Gulf war of 1991 and is still currently in use by the military. The M4 Sherman was used by the United States during World War II and the Korean War, and is no longer in active service."
Trump Says Tanks Will Be on Display in Washington for July 4
By Michael D. Shear, Thomas Gibbons-Neff and John Ismay | Published July 1, 2019 | New York Times | Posted July 1, 2019 |
WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Monday that the Pentagon would put military tanks on display on Thursday in Washington as part of his plans to turn the annual Fourth of July celebration in the nation’s capital into a salute to the country’s military prowess.
The tanks will join an airborne display of the nation’s firepower, including a flight of Air Force One over Washington and a performance by the Navy’s Blue Angels jets. Mr. Trump, who is to speak at the celebration, has requested that the chiefs for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines stand next to him as aircraft from each of their services fly overhead and their respective hymns play on loudspeakers.
“It’ll be like no other — it’ll be special, and I hope a lot of people come,” Mr. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “We have some incredible equipment, military equipment, on display — brand-new. And we’re very proud of it.”
Mr. Trump’s Fourth of July homage to the military sets up a cultural clash between the Republican president and a mostly Democratic city that has for decades celebrated America’s independence with almost no public participation by presidents of either party. The City Council for the District of Columbia, which was not happy with Mr. Trump’s decision, posted on Twitterthat “we have said it before, and we’ll say it again: Tanks, but no tanks.”
The president’s decision also reflects the divide between Mr. Trump and the forces at his command. Top military officials have expressed deep concern about letting the armed forces be used by the president to advance a political agenda, and earlier resisted his efforts for a military parade on Veterans Day.
Pentagon officials have long been reluctant to parade tanks, missiles and other weapons through the nation’s capital like the authoritarian leaders of North Korea and China. They say the United States, which has the world’s most powerful military and spends more on defense than the seven next largest military spenders combined — China, Saudi Arabia, India, France, Russia, Britain and Germany — does not need to broadcast its strength.
But Mr. Trump believes that the inclusion of tanks and other weapons in the July 4 celebration, which was first reported by The Washington Post, would help to transform the capital city’s annual event into the kind of military celebration he has long wanted.
After watching the Bastille Day parade in 2017 in Paris, Mr. Trump said that “we may do something like that on July 4 in Washington down Pennsylvania Avenue.” He later raised the idea of a military parade on Veterans Day, but abandoned it in the face of public opposition from city officials, private dissent from the Pentagon and a price tag of more than $90 million.
It was not clear how much the use of the military would cost on July 4.
Mr. Trump said that “brand-new Abrams tanks” and “brand-new Sherman tanks” would be on display on Thursday. The M1 Abrams tank was used during the Persian Gulf war of 1991 and is still currently in use by the military. The M4 Sherman was used by the United States during World War II and the Korean War, and is no longer in active service.
“You’ve got to be pretty careful with the tanks because the roads have a tendency not to like to carry heavy tanks,” Mr. Trump said, acknowledging the damage that such heavy vehicles could do to Washington’s transportation network. “So we have to put them in certain areas.”
The president did not say where those areas would be.
Pentagon officials declined to comment on Monday as they wrestled with how to accommodate the president’s tank request only a few days before the event. Among the logistical concerns was how to transport tanks that weigh more than 60 tons into the popular downtown area where tourists gather to see the monuments. Moving and guarding the tanks would require staffing at a time when many troops are at home for the holiday.
Another problem is that Arlington Memorial Bridge, which spans the Potomac River and connects Arlington National Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial, might not be able to hold the weight.
It was also unclear on Monday where the tanks would come from.
The closest Abrams tanks appeared to be a 350-mile drive away at the 150th Cavalry Regiment, a unit of the West Virginia National Guard in Bluefield, W.Va. If the military wanted to use assets under federal control, it would most likely have to bring tanks from the Marines’ 2nd Tank Battalion at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
Either way, the tanks would have to be transported by rail or flatbed truck.
Mr. Trump is scheduled to deliver his Fourth of July speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, becoming the first president in decades to participate in the annual Independence Day event. Mr. Trump announced the speech via tweet in February.
“We will be having one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington, D.C., on July 4,” he wrote. “It will be called ‘A Salute To America’ and will be held at the Lincoln Memorial. Major fireworks display, entertainment and an address by your favorite President, me!”
Critics of the president say his involvement amounts to a partisan hijacking of the Fourth of July event for his own political purposes.
“He’s taking an American — a national — holiday and making it about himself. And that is fundamentally wrong,” said Representative Gerald E. Connolly, Democrat of Virginia, whose constituents live a short drive from downtown Washington.
Mr. Connolly said that some of his constituents who normally celebrate in Washington may choose to attend parades and fireworks in other parts of the metropolitan area this year.
Washingtonian Magazine offered some suggestions in an article titled, “Avoid Trump’s Fireworks This Fourth of July and Celebrate in These Small Towns Instead.” Among the options it offered: marching bands, pie-eating contests and weenie roasts in a half-dozen cities well outside Washington.
But supporters of the president scoffed at the idea that Mr. Trump’s involvement is a reason for concern. Newt Gingrich, a former House speaker and vocal Trump booster, said the president should have the right to celebrate the Fourth of July as he sees fit.
“What kind of idiot do you have to be to complain that the president wants to celebrate the founding of our country?” Mr. Gingrich said, adding that he supports the idea of having tanks and other military vehicles at the celebration to honor the country’s military.
“Other than the fact they have to pay to fix the streets, who cares?” Mr. Gingrich said.
Washington has hosted a Fourth of July celebration on the National Mall for decades, often bringing musicians and other entertainers for a performance at the Capitol before a fireworks display over the Washington Monument. This year’s celebration will include a longer fireworks show after two companies offered their services for free, a donation that officials said is worth about $750,000.
A parade down Constitution Avenue takes place in the afternoon and will include marching bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military units, giant balloons and drill teams, according to the Interior Department, which oversees the events.
This year’s concert will be hosted by John Stamos, who starred in ABC’s “Full House” sitcom. The entertainment will include the singer Carole King, who will be joined by the cast of the Broadway musical “Beautiful.” And Big Bird, Elmo and Grover — of “Sesame Street” fame — will also perform, officials said.
Last week, Ms. King tweeted a cartoonto say that she was not performing at Mr. Trump’s event. “To be clear — I am appearing in ‘A Capitol Fourth,’” the cartoon said, adding, “I am not participating in T’s political rally.”
The Federal Aviation Administration said that it would suspend normal operations at Reagan National Airport during the president’s remarks and the flyovers by the military aircraft. It will also close the airspace over the capital during the fireworks displays.
Such airspace closures, which disrupt normal flight operations, happen occasionally, officials said. A similar closure took place when historic planes took part in a flyover of the National Mall in 2015.
City officials said traffic on the roads in Washington is likely to be snarled throughout the day because of numerous road closures.

Taxis are essential for people to travel on a daily basis as not every other person has their own car. The entire taxi service industry has evolved a lot and it has become a lot more convenient and easier for people to get a cab. People have this idea about airport taxis that they are certain taxis that are only found at the airport.

Blog: Scotland; where ideas become legend?
Our Scotland Sales Hub at Pitreavie Business Park, Fife, opened as a direct result of the high volume of business we conduct north of the border; did you know around 30% of our business is generated from our Scotland based clients? However it is increasing in popularity as a destination for meetings and events for our clients outside of Scotland too; clients in the Retail, Association and Education sectors have all been looking to Scotland for their events due to the quality and scope of venues, as well as value for money.
VisitScotland’s first social medial campaign especially for Business Events, Legends, was designed to showcase Scotland’s knowledge economy and give organisations worldwide reasons why they should choose Scotland as their next events destination, so we thought we’d take a look at what’s new and share with you what’s so special about it. With its unique geography Scotland is like a global village – you don’t have to travel very far from the main cities to find unique venues and locations; castles, mountains or even ships are all within reach. Great transport links into the country by road, air and rail make the country really accessible and the recent investment into the trams in Edinburgh ensure travelling from Edinburgh International Airport into the city is fast and easy. The country doesn’t just rely on its rich history to offer venues with a wow factor. New spaces such as The Cow Shed in Crail, which opened in 2016, provide original features and a truly unique setting to which clients can add their own personality for a range of events. On the other end of the spectrum The V&A Dundee, Scotland’s first design museum, is due to open on the 15th September this year and promises to offer a range of atmospheric settings for unforgettable events. V&A Dundee Glasgow, with its edgy urban culture, has had new office spaces popping up everywhere and venues are hot on their heels; the studio chose The Studio Glasgow for its first Scottish location back in the summer of 2016, and the new Radisson RED Glasgow, which is due to open in April this year, will be another stylish addition to the city and will have a fabulous large rooftop terrace and bar. Artist’s impression of the Red Sky Bar, Radisson RED Glasgow Edinburgh has seen a huge growth in new venues; The Ivy on the Square was the first Ivy to open outside of London in November 2017, the brand new five star Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square also opened at the end of last year and Brewhemia, the city’s largest restaurant and bar opened directly opposite Waverley train station boasting five separate areas across two floors to choose from. Brewhemia, Edinburgh There are more new venues and developments planned for Edinburgh too; the Edinburgh Grand, 50 luxury serviced apartments are due to open later this year and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts have announced plans for their fourth property in Europe to be built in the former Royal High School in 2020. The Edinburgh St James, from the luxurious W Hotels brand, is also to be part of a major redevelopment in 2020. Scotland really is the land of the diverse, or indeed of legends – the venues we have mentioned only scratch the surface of what is available! If you would like more information about these

Edinburgh Tattoo 2020 Tickets and Transport suggestions
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2020  will start from the 7-29th August of this year. Edinburgh Military Tattoo is just closer to its 70th anniversary that the International Festival and Fringe are celebrating in August 2020. Tattoo fans who want to join this iconic festival can buy Edinburgh Tattoo Tickets from our most consistent and unfailing online platform.
Edinburgh Transport:
Trains can also be an issue if you are staying for the 10.30 late Saturday night performance which finishes at midnight.  The last Scotrail train to Glasgow is usually 11.45 and you would not catch this train after the late show.
Tumblr media
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a non for profit organization, to help support the many Royal military charities and veterans.
Where Can buy The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Tickets?
Tattoo fans can get Edinburgh Military Tattoo Tickets through our steadfast online ticketing market place. www.edinburghtattotickets.com is the most unfaltering source of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Ticket 2020.
