I'm back from raiding my pantry. Here's some more headcanons and a friendly nudge to go to bed lol

1. I think Shadow would make an excellent ventriloquist. Something about him makes me think "now that guy can throw his voice."

2. Amy is colorblind. I think that's the only way she could realistically mistake Shadow for Sonic in broad daylight.

3. Before he was turned into a weapon, Shadow had aspirations of being a house husband, with a white picket fence and two young kids.

4. Silver tried really really hard to make a restaurant last long enough to make it to his future because the food was so good. Now he can only enjoy it when he visits the past.

5. Eggman leaves a gift on Shadow's doorstep every year for his birthday. It's both very sweet and annoying, because it's mostly Eggman-themed, like a jacket with his logo on it, or a card with money asking him to please join his empire so they can rule together, or a can opener shaped like his moustache.

6. Shadow and Big are best friends and they go fishing regularly

7. Sonic is really good at using the Five Finger Discount cause he grew up impoverished. He tries not to do it anymore but sometimes his stomach will growl and his first instinct is always to sneak some food.

8. Shadow will sometimes ask to spar with others in an effort to teach them different combat methods and make them less predictable in a fight. He doesn't tell them that he's doing it because that would force him to admit to thinking about/having concern for people that aren't omega and rouge, so to the others it really just feels like "Shadow showed up and made me fight him for half an hour."

ahhh do sonic!!!

favorite thing about them: That glorious cheshire cat smile. Not only because its badass and quite intimidating, but showcases some sort of lunacy we’re not entirely aware of. Maybe it’s something he inherited from a parents, or something he developed over time from all the killing and torture, like some kind of dissociation. There’s a backstory behind it.

least favorite thing about them: the fact that he’s always presented as a weak comical joke, despite being dangerous. From our first encounter with him in the manga, he was kind of cool until he was knocked in the balls, and the fandom lost a lot of respect for him. When he attacks Saitama, it’s always an easy laugh, even though he does pretty well against big monsters like DSK and even Genos. That’s not easy. It feels like Sonic is a joke first and a ninja with a perfect ass second.

favorite line: “Doesn’t mean shit if you got caught though.” No fear at all from being surrounded by a group of big dudes with a fresh gang rape on their minds, and he just steamrolls over this loser’s ‘accomplishments’.

brOTP: Garou. I have no clue why but I always thought these two could hit it off. They’re both jealous of Saitama (though Garou will probably accept defeat), they both find heroes to be useless, and both have worked tirelessly through pain and hardship--obviously Garou had a way better life but the idea is there. I have a little hc where Garou’s past, besides the bullying at school or whatever, is much harder and darker than we’ve seen so far, and whatever it is Sonic might be able to relate.

OTP: Flash/Sonic. There’s no one else, at least no one we’ve seen so far being someone close to Sonic. He even risked punishment and sought Flash out during training. That’s cute right? I think that’s cute. The only love (platonic or romantic) Sonic ever felt in the village could have been from Flash. If not maybe next would be Shadow Ring. I don’t know why but I thought about it once and wasn’t offended by the idea.

nOTP: Saitama/Sonic, Because Saitama finds Sonic super annoying. Sure Sonic may have a very small, very gay crush on Saitama that he’s not aware of and his brain turned it into a duel so he could continue thinking about him. Maybe. But probably not. But even so, fully one-sided attraction.

random headcanon: Though Sonic had never seen his mother since she left when he was a baby, and doesn’t really know what women look like except from seeing a few drawings that the village instructors show the students to teach them the differences in human targets, he was always thinking about what she looked liked like or sounded like. And he would imagine something like love, even though he didnt know the word or feeling.

unpopular opinion: I have two. First, gay or straight, he’s a power top. Second, I have this off putting idea that Sonic was a prostitute before an assassin. Getting in good with criminals takes steps and maybe he was homeless and desperate for food and shelter. Pride and virtue probably wasn’t important to him anymore. Creepy as fuck I know but that’s why it’s deserving unpopular.

song i associate with them: Alice and Chains - “Man In A Box”. Because I think Sonic should be compared to a veal calf and/or being censored/hidden from people by the government.

hc + food

sonic has the fastest legs and the fastest metabollism you have EVER seen. he goes through a lot of energy and needs a lot of food to keep up with his body’s usage of it. it’s why hes always so thin, he just sheds pounds like it’s fur or something. he generally has a Big appetite and just..... naturally loves food. he’s an anime protagonist in how food motivated he is. he just enjoys eating! its one of his fav parts about getitng to travel so often, he gets to eat so many different foods from so many different cultures he LIVES for that shit. 

along the same lines of his metabolism, getting him drunk + under the influence of meds or drugs is. hard GFRDECFV he needs a particularly high dose of painkillers for it to dull any pain so his pain tolerance is pretty damn high. he often times will just turn down painkillers if he ends up in the hospital bc he doesnt want to waste resources, so if he DOES end up asking for the doses that actually put a dent in the thing you know that shit hurts

so the way sonic’s head works through traumatic events is just to reflexively ignore > repress them. not a conscious thing, it’s just how his head works bc it’s what he’s always done? he’s always prioritized something else over actually working through his emotions for one reason or another, so it just became muscle memory. not to mention that while some moments during the 6 months mia he had during forces were A Lot, he kinda goes through A Lot every other week? all modern sonic games up to forces happenned in relative quick succession for him (he’s 11-12ish when sonic 3 ends and 15 when lost world starts), so while sonic Knows that some parts of what he went through in forces do affect him, the same can be said for stuff like station square flooding, shadow suppossedly dying, thinking he indirectly Killed Lost Hex And His Three Best Friends, so he just... thinks it’s no big deal. like hey just another tuesday

and for right now, it isn’t. he’s more restless and alert, but he’s been calming down lately, and he has bouts of insomnia, but that’s always been a thing he deals with. he has anxiety attacks but again he’s had those at times since his dad died and his mom got sick. it’s all just so normal to him that now that it shows up because of the months he was in captivity he thinks it’ll fade away. he didnt allow himself to process most of what happenned either during or after the six months, because he had to make sure he didnt give eggman what he wanted (sonic losing his grip and showing that this WAS all affecting him), and he stepped out of the space cell to fall right into a literal war so, yknow, he had bigger fish to fry.

most of the reason why the six months messed him up is that sonic is Entirely based on the pursuit of freedom, physical or emotional. for six months (which is a WHILE) he really had no agency of his own and really was over and over reminded that he had no say in what happenned to him (every attempt he made to change that didn’t end well), not to mention that there was a war outside and sonic didn’t even know if any of his friends were alive. it was six months of constantly made to feel useless and like his attempts were always futile (he tried to get out several times but the bracelets/cuffs eggman kept on him sapped his energy and he also kept him on low food intake so he was kinda always weak). sonic hates being powerless and trapped and he was stuck in a constant loop of it which wasnt fun. constantly feeling weak and useless for half a year and stuff

so going back to forces because there isnt. anything else i can think to put here

eggman didn’t want to kill sonic primarily because he wanted him around to see when eggman managed to conquer 100% of the world, but he also wanted some karma for all the times he lost to sonic. so what he did was essentially set up occassional cage matches between sonic and a bunch of robots. under normal circumstances sonic would have no problem dealing with them but since he was being kept at low power levels + hungry and sleep deprived, he usually ended up getting beat up and eggman would call back the robots when sonic couldn’t fight anymore for one reason or another. sonic heals really fast and really well, but it was more than anything a reinforcement that eggman is the one who makes the rules, not sonic for once-- disempowerment and all that. a Lot of sonic just getting hit with failure which he in general uhhhhhhhh doesn’t like! it got particularly violent once but ill. probably write abt that someday
